this game is fuckin' awesome
why do I only get trade points with corps after some successful missions? does it depend on mission type?
any other bro tips I need to know?

Companies will try to pay you in items, anything they can't cover in items you get in credit.

>>
>>744685658
What's the power concentration?
The skull rating is largely irrelevant
>>
>>744684507
Yeah I think they produce the human tech quasi weapons at high tier
>>
>>744685658
Skulls aren't an indication of difficulty, power concentration and enemy tech level are. But that tutorial mission is a challenge yes.

>>
>>744685750
Holy shit.
Well then, it's time for a change.
>>
I really hope the difficulty interface that the devs are going to fix just straight up removes skull ratings so then we dont have to keep seeing people complaining about skull ratings because they dont understand how to read the difficulty.
>>
>>744685658
I think they're going to adjust the skull ratings to make them reflect the true difficulty more accurately. The civil resistance guys have shit armor 95% of the time so you can pretty much just shoot them (or packs of them) to death in one burst with any guns. Watch out for guys carrying big guns though, might be a sawblade launcher or a flamethrower.
>>
>>744686000
But before I do this
What are the actual benefits besides that? I'm reading from posts online that it stops certain attacks. So does it make quasi's ally with you? The pirates?
>>
>>744685747
>>744685760
>>744686378
Okay, I had just seen people talking about getting BTFO by four skull missions and thought either I was doing something wrong or the game bugged.
>>
>>744686390
Well when you proxy a corp they you can go around to their stations and get everything they produce for free. You can also defend those stations from enemies, or raise your proxy corp power so high that your power level will beat the power level of the attacking enemies and you win them automatically when the timer expires. If you proxy a corp that is attacking your other corps you like all the time it does stop them from fucking with you and taking over valuable stations.
I don't know about allying with the Qs I haven't done it, but there is a quest for it.
>>
>>744686549
sounds like it would be really nice with the warp drive
but by the time you get the warp drive you are basically already done upgrading your ship
>>
>>744686549
So do corps stop attacking them then? I got a ton of missions where coven is getting fucked over right now.
>>
>>744685658
It dumped me from the tutorial into a fucking 5 skull mission. I spent four hours getting my shit wrecked before I gave up and started a new save on easy. But now I don't see any story missions.
>>
>>744686731
No, they will still get attacked once you proxy them, and if you don't defend them or their attackers are too strong they will lose stations.
>>
>>744686759
if you skipped training you will have the ancom data in your cargo hold and you can just go trade it to ancom or realware or some other corps to start a questline with them
>>
>>744686825
Shit. They're the second least powerful now since my takeover apparently nuked their strength. Fuck, I may just let them get fucked over while taking their shit for free.
>>
>>744687002
that's definitely probable, but you can build them back up quick by beating their attackers and taking over new stations for them
>>
>>744684446
if you went beyond mars too much before getting the quasimorph engine then yeah you let them power creep over you.
>>744684837
Food is no joke. It takes a real minmax master to do evasion light builds, I feel naked and scared if I am not a pack rat.

For you new to the game people just pray you find the RPG7 bluprint. It's always amazing when I get that shit unless they nerfed it.
>Ammunition is literally just gunpowder and oil, no explosives
>You can make the RPG7 reload in one turn.
>Just nuke the map and nuke the hallways and nuke everything.

>>744686680
The warp drive is so essential I consider it the #1 priority, since a lot of other stuff is gatelocked (good luck upgrading clones if you can't fly to the saturn/jupiter stations to buy their medical supplies).

>>744686759
Stories are complicated. off the top of my head for the two I know of: (1) Give ancom the starting data (2) Go to Venus and get negative rep with Quetzlcoatl bitch teclan or whatever his name is (3) meet Spider wife (4) Continue that story line.

I think that's essential to the warp engine quest anyway.
>>
>>744687047
That is also something I'm thinking of since everything I can ask for is free. It's a tough damn choice. And I still have no idea whether or not changing its type will be worth it.
>>
>>744687104
I think changing type just changes diplomacy? It seemed underwhelming. Each time I played before I chickend out of who I wanted to back since I am not sure if you can un-proxy them, and my dilemma was usually between the two energy companies and the church.

I'd favor energy companies if you like energy weapons just because it'll be free ammo, and crafting for energy is annoying (glass is not expensive but it's laborious to loot).
>>
>>744687104
I'm not sure what the types do honestly, perhaps it makes them target certain types of stations to produce those types of goods.
>>
Are people getting dumpstered in the tutorial mission even after they take the stairs? the 1st floor elevator is the only area with proper guards.
>>
>>744687232
I haven't had a problem, you can even cheese out the turrets near the elevator easily if you just use sprint to pop in shoot and pop out

Awww yeah
>>
>>744688002
They've always been pretty quick to fix bugs and whatnot, I think they deserve a little slack because they've had the same audience the whole time during EA and we all know how to play. Now that a bunch of new people have the game there are clearly going to be complaints that fresh eyes will think are obvious. Good on them for jumping on them.
>>
>>744687232

Yes. Over and over.

Then the one time I actually made it down and got the objective, the game told me to get to the elevator. So I take the elevator up, the doors open, and two turrets immediately light me up.

Defense missions against Tez are reasonably tough, you have to bring a lot of ammo and medical because the Qs don't really drop any. You don't have to bring drugs to lower qmorphosis though

Why are Quasimorphs immune to shotguns but not rinky-dink pistols? So fucking mean. I'm never taking a VIP escort again, retard ran right into them.
>>
I'm curious about people's opinions on this.
Which factions are your favorites? Which are your least favorites?
>>
>>744688776
If you've got a turret dump it in an open area and stay close. Otherwise I dunno bring shotguns, they like to get close.
>>
>>744688909
Leave the VIP in some room with only one door until the floor is clear and then rush him to the elevator. You can control their behavior in a tab in their inventory (and steal their gear if you want)

Every fucking mission there's this Nobilis guy that fucks me up. I'm about to drop this game because of this shit. The quasimorph mechanic is such bullshit, makes everything unfun.

>>

do you mean the guys covered in spikes that rush you? they are immune to slashing but pretty weak otherwise
your shotgun must just be doing slashing damage
you should always have multiple damage type weapons just in case

>>744688989
I didn't know that, interesting.
>>
>>744689102
I'm thinking of just turning off quasimorph shit in difficulty options (if it exists). It's just not fun when every mission is against quasimorphs regardless of which faction you fight.
>>
>>744689208
Work mars a bunch until you get bored and then branch out, the different baramfutras have different cool unique types of Qs and learning to exploit them is really fun. Plus the moon dart guns are great.
>>
>>744689208
There are several quasimorph "factions," so there's variety in that too. It depends on the planet you're on.
>>
I think I'm gonna be a little bitch and start a run with the option to restart the floor if the clone dies and with lower tech progression for factions. I'm stuck in a loop of losing francis and starting a new run.

Just wait until you see the better backpacks, Buffalo is good for capacity but doesn't offset weight very much, lowering your dodge if it's full. I recommend carrying two if you want to be real leet, one that offsets weight well (handy or fighter) and one buffalo. Then every floor there's nearly always a container near the elevator you can throw heavy shit into so that your dodge is good for the fight, and then afterwards you can make a pass to steal everything off the corpses before heading downstairs.

How come you starve to death just walking around in this game

what's the point of this
>>
>>744692613
I just go with 2 meat cans, if I really fear hunger I'll pack an MRE. A lot of my regulars right now are very calorie efficient though, scouts of hades is a hell of a drug

same reason you heal in seconds
>>
>>744692720

>>
>>744692717
your clones presumably have a hyper metabolism to allow them to heal so quickly
it also starves them to death
>>
>>744692623
Tongkong is good for starting fires, phoenix brigade is good for surviving them. Ideally you unlock both and move the fire starting perk to phoenix brigade, but obviously you don't know when you're gonna unlock that one.
>>
>>744692717
You're a metabolic monster designed for ultra-fast hyper-violent military raids. Just eat pieces of people if you get hungry.
>>
>>744692762

>>744691116
It's deceptive because if you go to the moon really early on you finish missions quickly enough when you have a scanner and fight scavs. Then one tech level up on a 3/4 floor mission and it's flavourtown.
>>
>>744692863
yeah, it doesn't add anything to the game

it's a time pressure mechanic that could be done a thousand different and better ways
>>
>>744692779
my last strategy was

>open door
>give them burst of fire

no need to survive fire if I'm not ever near it

Changing food requirements isn't a ground up change, it's already 90% there with the calorie slider, it should have an option for total removal

and rather than tell me what the gameplay purpose is, you've just seethed over it being questioned, which means this is something you've been trying to defend for some time and it really upsets you that people keep questioning it and what it adds to the game, which it clearly doesn't add anything.

i think phoenix brigade is wasted being used as a lolfire class. It's better off replacing flame in the dark and scholar with heavy weapons and dirty shot or war crime. Now ammo saving matters because you fire the volcano or thunderstorm and use the damage boost for overcharged batteries. both are useless for a firestarter who either uses a flamethower or literally any fire ammo. exploding 9mm, dragons breath shotgun. agni missiles.

There's a point value attached to every piece of gear, enemy unit, the length of the mission and other stuff I'm sure I don't know about which determines how hard the mission is, the numerical value of the power concentration for the enemy team represents that. Power concentration is also used to determine which side wins on missions that expire without you doing anything about them. Over time if you just sit there and do nothing the various corps will capture property from each other and grow in power as they develop new technology that allows them to produce higher level armor and guns and other gear.

the trick is to use the demons against the enemies. the humans will mostly always shoot at quasimorphs instead of you which leads to a snowball of chaos. if you intend to profit from this type of interaction you might want to be prepared to either kill a baron (not that hard really) or use a ton of drugs to lower the quasimorphosis so you can get out of the station after the demons have wrecked everyone for you
>>
>>744694982
That might explain the trouble I had.
By the time the demons are flooding the map I've already butchered an entire floor and its just me soloing them until the Baron kills me in one shot.
>>
>>744685103
I do that once I have that module upgraded and then when I have to switch regions I make sure everyone is in training so they are maxed out when we jump into the new region.
>>
>>744695090
Yeah, if they get on top of you it's a problem, but at least the Tez barons aren't so great against bullets. Since you know they'll be coming for you as soon as they spawn, getting as far away from a doorway as possible and making sure you have two full guns to unload on them usually does the trick. I think they might be strong against blunt damage so pick rifles or SMGs over shotguns (or check their armor by right clicking them). In desperate times I've even seen people shoot wall open to dig back behind cover to give themselves a few extra free turns of shooting. Good luck!
>>
>>744690407
Is it real-time or turn-based?
>>
How do you choose what missions to take? Basically any mission in a different part of the system is too far away for me to get to before it expires. Do you just travel somewhere blindly and hope to find something good there?

pick 1-3 companies to support, and try to prevent anyone else (especially the demons) from growing too powerful. try not to travel much, because companies grow stronger over time, based on their number of bases and other things. So the game gets harder as time passes, both in terms of actual mission difficulty and in terms of actually shifting the balance of power. you can use the time options in the top right to accelerate time while you hang around a particular planet and its moons, but feel free to travel long distances sometimes
>>

So how does portal travel work? Do I have to do a dungeon to use the warp since the upgrades have stuff like starting floor and distance to portal.
>>
>>744695427
characters have action points based on their speed than can be used for attacking or moving or other actions on their turn and turn rotate between teams, usually 1v1 but sometimes multiple groups are fighting each other
>>
>>744695527
Don't travel too much, companies grow in power while you do and can end up being a bitch much for your underequipped ass. Honestly you're better off speeding up time and waiting in orbit for like a week, you should only travel if you specifically want to change the setting you're doing jobs in. You unlock the ability to forcefully spawn missions with a ship upgrade eventually also.

I tried to make a pure melee build valable but it just has too many downsides that I kinda gave up for now

modified eclipse blade to dodge stack and extra AP with a naked bob for extra regen and ability cooldown

my second run with him actualy was kinda successful, managed to win the mission but then a quasi morph teleported behind me and ate my ass

the bigest flaw with this build is, appart from the obvious ones like no range options, is that your abilites trigger so often that you need to eat entire fridges worth of food to sustain yourself, not a problem abstencia planets, you can just cannibalise, but on quasimorph planets you run into problems, all the food you bring lowers your dodge and some kinds of quasimorphs are realy difficult to deal with in melee, either due explosions or other abilities

hitrates are also a problem, most melee weapons I've encounterd have absurdly low hitrates, I never hit something with a higher probablility than 75%

maybe later when I got more resources to play with I do another build but now I stick to guns

I've never seen techs regress tech levels just progress. So once they hit milestones they always have permanent access to that tech. Its interesting too because the tech tree is semi misleading. The tech tree is just guaranteed what the corporation will payout to you at the end of a mission you can still loot those same higher tier items from corpos before they are unlocked its just a little bit more rare.

I've played this game for like 2 years now and seeing new anons play it and get easily filtered by the very abusable mechanics that the devs clearly left in for you to use is hillarious.

Though I'll never forgive them for nerfing vision to where you couldn't see bloodsplatter outside line of sight. I used to prefire long hallways like crazy back in EA
>>
>>744702386
Interesting but makes sense.

As far as I have been told there are a few notable enemies that have a chance to have equipment that is not yet unlocked. Elites enemies, scientists and VIPS all sometimes have items 1-2 tech levels above the faction's ability.
It makes assassination missions worthwhile, as it's sometimes a VIP surrounded by a squad of elites.

At a certain point it will. The sixth hexarch says some shit to show you have passed that threshold, but I am trying to find when that is.

From quasimorph.wiki it mentions the reputation locks without spoilers as being mid-arc. All I can tell you with xiomara is that it should be not locked if you make the phase bomb. Like you kind of have to in order to get the warp drive? But if you use that phase bomb in a certain mission in a certain way (not just on random mooks, if you catch me) I'm fairly sure it will lock you in.

Make a notepad, either online, desktop or Bramafutra forbid discord. When you encounter a new Quasimorph biome check the stats (Right click or something on them) of the enemies and note down their vulnerabilities vs strengths. That way you learn (learning is half the fun) but also don't forget that Duggers resist cut and such and such resist lasers.

>>744689208
Alcohol reduces Qmorph as does smoking and other stuff, but make sure you have the means to mitigate the addiction else the addiction sticks with you the entire mission. If you are tailored to their weaknesses (and maybe also tailored to resist their strength IE Tezclan is poison and void?) then they can be easy. At one point I think against the celtic demons out by Jupiter they were weak to a weapon I had in abundance, so they were easier than humans to fight.

Customize campaign - combat - set QMorph Growth and effects to 50%. It can't go lower than that. I'd encourage you to try playing 100% though. One area I will encourage cheating on with the customization is increase stack size by x2. It's stupid how low it is on 1.

Protip
You can lock doors, forcing enemies to bash it down if they want to get to you.

Set a room on fire and lock the door behind you.
Fire off a shot outside the room, lock the door and place a mine outside the door. Good chance they'll all clump up beside the door waiting to bash it down.
>>
>>744703118
What makes Tunnel Rats good?
>>
>>744690868
Sunlight Coven. Lasers are really stupidly good unless someone is set up to resist them. They are also miserable to fight against as they cause a debuff malus that doesn't go away unless you drink alcohol(?) and something else.
Church of Revelations gives alcohol and shotguns and shotguns are often best in slot
Dilthey gets the ARC and other shock weapons and if you want misery you will go up against shock weapons. They also have proprietary batteries.

My permanent bully-bait are
Civil Resistance (lol)
Grasshopper Technology (their shit generally feels like ass aside of the RPG77)
Coreward MG (Unless you are heavy into a nail/industrial weappons build)
Planetbridge to a degree (the no ammo guns are nice but ammo isn't usually my concern).
Franche Comte sometimes, their guns are nice but I usually can get better.

Learn armor values and learn what each damage type Braumfuturas and Corporos Favor and dislikes
Example: Tezlcan is weak against Piercing and favors at Ranged Posion and Piercing Damage and does a little bit of everything at Melee range. Spiders are Posion so a good hazmat suit keeps you from getting oneshot.
Shartamakhum, the Mercury Baron and Bramfaturas are weak against Blunt damage so they are probably the best Quasimorphs to start off fighting since 9mm is freely available.

Looting perk that increases level as you loot more, which means more useful stuff drops. Especially if you are limiting yourself to Mars for lack of gear to deal with Qmorphs then it makes it far more likely you'll get important upgrade items like cloning machines, labratory machine, ectera.

Shotguns are very good weapons in the early period and they get a buff to that too. You will eventually be able to completely change every ability in a class for any class you have unlocked.
>>
>>744702104
it's been early access for a while and felt complete for years, but the devs autism didn't allow them to announce 1.0 until now. and already there have been multiple updates this week from the reviews/requests from everyone who just started playing
>>
>>744703385
Yeh, since that'll mean a permanent -1 to the ambient level so even if it spikes because of murder all the turns you spend meandering around might reduce it.

yeah if I have smoke grenades I'll give them to Isabella, along with stun grenades as possible. you don't have to play the corner game or the knife throwing game, just stun or blind everyone and rush in there to kill them quickly

look here in the stock market screen. you have the most choices in the beginning, you can't do everything in one run. some other story branches can't be discovered until later. if you travel somewhere and get dialogue, read it. there's not a quest journal usually, sometimes you just have to remember what was said.

you need to progress the story by pissing off tzeclan. Xiomara will contact you and tell you to go to venus and hit 1000 on the qmorph meter. She will then give you a pact and you need to use it to access her storyline. Then follow that storyline until you build a phase bomb to awaken the mars bramfatura . The bomb is an ingredient in the phase drive. You really need to prioritize getting all the previous upgrades though.
>>

>HEXARCHS DON'T FIGHT EACH OTHER
If you find yourself getting filtered by the mid game its because you are likely not managing faction power. From the early game all the way on you should always try to Kneecap the top 3 factions so there's always a revolving door of power in the solar system you can exploit. For every Hexarch Mission you do, you honestly should do 3 independent corpo missions to offset their power. If you REALLY want to kneecap them always take conquest missions for Independents and CR to take over Hexarch stations. I got into the late game having Realware be at the bottom of the food chain.
>>
Is it normal for quasimorphs to appear after a ritual saying it was too late or did I fuck up?
>>
>>744704115
Tech tree mentions in in navigation or research. I think it requires the phase bomb. Just keep going either realware, ancom, or xiomara and you should reach it. What you do with those bombs is up to you. Actions have consequences*.

Fire was dealing something like 40~ damage, per tick. With 110 hp, that is a whooping total of 3 ticks (if I took no damage before burning). So how much fire res should I have? 50% is pushing it and that would give me 6 turns before I am a charred to crisps. Considering most things that burn you also seem to inflict damage first, I don't think fire resistance would do much there. Especially since resistances seem to be log scaling.

the very limited footage i've seen is generally a dude walking around and then shooting gun to defeat enemies. Are there classes that get multiple abilities like a get-over-here grapple, or a teleport or a telekinesis thing or do you pretty much just shoot gun all the time?

Some implants and pacts give you cool abilities.
Classes are VERY reliant on gear that you may or may not procure.
If you don't have your ship upgraded and some specific production recipes unlocked you are have, like, two class options that aren't sub-optimal.

that's a fun way to play but it's much harder than usual, I'd suggest it if you are good at classic roguelikes (DCSS, Nethack, DoomRL/Jupiter Hell)

Gannix is poison immune and their ranged units deal poison and entropy(fire+cold). So far I've seen melee and ranged variants of the baron, ranged baron also does entropy damage. Since the baron can pact Gannix pacts also deal entropy when they damage and avoid places with lots of spilled blood.
>>
>>744701354
Melee would be godly in absentia since you can use the quasi-arms and overgrown muscles without penalty. Or you embrace insanity and splice in the perk to grab some of the qmeter buffs for yourself.

Here's an unpopular opinion, go straight for Unfair.
The first missions can be a bit tricky, but there's really no sleep lost over restarting if you fuck up either since it's just the beginning.
Once you get it going, it's not that much different from normal run.
If you go down custom game route... that's a slippery slope that will lead you into becoming Rimworld dollhouse faggot who's waiting for his regular HRT shipments.
It's also the reason why it sucks to ask for advice here, because most of the faggots in this thread play some custom faggotry and their knowledge doesn't really apply outside of it.

Honestly, if you're just about to restart... take percy, give him food and all your bandages and splints and send him on suicide missions in melee. I managed to win two 3-4k power concentration missions in a row, with only the emergency gear they gift you when you die and a knife, Salvaging my run even though I lost my realware buffalo after 3 missions.
if you die on the mission with percy, that's when I would restart

>>744723119

Using it costs 150 calories, if you're on a mission starved for food this could get you, plus it takes you two hours to manufacture.
I'd skip that shit asap and get antibiotics, since they are incredibly easy to produce and have no cal. drawback + many healing benefits+ anti poision etc.
>>
>>744723246
>plus it takes you two hours to manufacture
you can manufacture while you're traveling, it pauses the game
in one trip to earth or venus you can make a ton of them for the foreseeable future, if you're going further you'll make so much you won't ever need to craft them again anymore

I prefer onions to antibiotics because It gives me the reassurance of meds without taking up the item slot that meds usually do since I can drop them guilt free at any time. But I'm not late game yes so I really value that extra inventory slot.
>>
>>744723352
>it pauses the game
what are you talking about, the game is continuing while traveling and that's precious time wasted crafting something that should be obsolete after 2-3 missions when you hopefully got yourself 20-30 man steaks.
Why do you think so many ship perks reduce crafting/researching/genoming time? It's because enemies scale with time
>>
>>744723446
You just gotta pray for to find an espionage mission, yeah. I wouldn't worry about doing it any time soon because actual story missions are hard as fuck so you might as well get yourself established first.
>>
>>744723554
I'm saying that while you're in the crafting menu it pauses the game, so use that time to launch as many productions as possible during the trip. On a 30 day trip, crafting 20 or 40 sorbent is a drop in the water.
>>
its very annoying that a fucking knoife takes over so much space.

Trust me I get that item slots are important, but antibiotics are a super early game item and easy to produce. Cutting up corpses gives you the meat needed and each antibiotic has 5 uses before it goes empty. They're so abundant I drop them too when I need a item slot.

>>744723792
>crafting a useless beginner trap item that you should never craft because you shouldn't be using it in the first place is justified because it doesn't take much time while you make a game ending 30d travel without even owning antibiotics.
Yeah now it makes sense

Please, don't pretend you are crafting something every minute, and doubly don't pretend that if you don't maximize your crafting it means you auto-lose.
There is plenty of time to craft some sorbent if you so wish to absolutely no detriment even if it is worse than antibiotics.

>Please, don't pretend you are crafting something every minute
But I am crafting something at all times, that is the intended use of the crafting system. There is never a time where I'm not crafting ammo, medkits, food or gear.
>don't pretend that if you don't maximize your crafting it means you auto-lose.
Never said that. I said if you can't even produce antibiotics then yes, making 30 day trips means you've probably gimped your run unless you're playing on easy or know exactly what you're doing.

Now can you stop being such a disingenuous faggot. I'm trying to help people by warning them of beginner traps like sorbent while you apparently travel for 30 days without antibiotics in your inventory. And no, there is no reason to have both since in combat you can only use either or.
And both are infinitely abundant, but one of them is actually useful
>>
>>744724892
I had to run missions for commies because they controlled ore on Mars and I didn't want to spend 70 days going to outer fucking rim to buy ore for upgrades

>>
>>744724969
Obviously making 30 day trips just for sorbent is retarded but that anon was simply saying that if you are traveling somewhere far then you could spend some of that time making more than enough sorbents that you could possibly use.
Calling it a noob trap is an exaggeration because the little time you spend crafting it is negligible in the grand scheme of things.

>>
>>744725174
The noob trap isn't wasting time on making sorbent, the noob trap is using sorbent in the first place.
My entire point is, with antibiotics being so easy to obtain by just grabbing the meat of the corpses, why would you ever use sorbent for healing purposes? The fact that you waste precious time crafting sorbent is just the cherry on top.

If people want to use sorbent over antibiotics because it's "free" to craft they can do so. But I don't want to hear them argue about how it makes sense when it doesn't. Especially when they even say shit like "you don't craft all the time" as if there isn't a queue system just to make sure you craft at all times.

>>744725654
I'd pick whatever is most fun to your build. But if you're min. maxing then I'd take health, accuracy if you need it or dodge chance in extremely specific builds
