When was the last time you made the trek, anon?
Last week. I made it to about 1/2 through the red path and just uninstalled. Game doesn't strike joy.

Do you use followers? Which one is the best?I just found out they have different stats and perks and level caps so they 'are' different in combat, but also personality matters a lot I assume. Also most of them may die but some are marked as needed characters and will only pass out for a while instead of dying. For me, a new player, at first it was only for carrying my burdens (suck it Lydia) but ended up giving some weapons and realising they can be actually useful, at least in taking the aggro.
200 IQ move is to fast travel to riften from the whiterun stables then just walk straight to ivarstead

>>744685146I start from Riften to get to Ivarstead, it's a much more direct path with fewer enemies
I will never forget my first trek to Ivarstead. I went a route even further out than the red Apprentice route. It took me past Nilheim as a detour where I ended up getting fooled by the guy pretending to be injured who led me into the bandit camp ambush, and I eventually arrived at Ivarstead from the south, which is the nicest way to arrive, avoiding the uphill trek and troll den in the north. You can just about see the southern bridge entrance on OP's pic.
>>744688961My fav ever follower was Illia who you can pick up in a random quest into Darklight Tower, she asks to follow you during it to save her mother, and then becomes a potential follower after it. She just nukes everything with frost spells. Eventually my game was bugged so that if I ever ordered her to unfollow me, I would never be able to get her as a follower again. So I ended up keeping her around permanently.
