>>744694467Yes the PS1 was the last great gen for JRPGs.All we have now is cinematic casual slop with writers that are too afraid to take risks when creating characters and stories because they don't want to hurt some snowflake's feelings. Modern JRPGs are ugly, safe and boring. They're corposlop made for no one.
If you include everything referred to as "JRPG" under one genre, they're by far the most varied genre in existence.
turn based games are uironically great but /v/ is mostly too grug brained to enjoy them.

This isn't necessarily bad because modern games are homogenous and gay in their own ways.But they feel like a dreamcast game that just added a few polygons and a resolution bump. There is no physics to speak of. Everything feels like an animation sliding across the ground. Stuff like that. You can feel it.It's sort of charming.
