What happened with xbox recently?
It made the front page of orange reddit

you mean truth social?

>You can't play games you own on disc.
Clearly you don't own them if you require phoning home to Microsoft for permission to play.
>>
>>744694527
Basically, if Nutella disconnects Xbox services from its hosting location, you can't play any of its games, disc or no disc.
>>
>>744694527
Just Transbox reminding everyone that they're the worst around as usual
>Buh buh buh muh Gay Day beta!!!!
No one cares
>>
>>744694527
Are you seriously telling me before this outage no one tried to play games on XboneSeX while not connected to the internet to find this out?
>>
>>744694527
What? How does this happen?
You can play games offline with no internet connection so how the fuck did this actually happen?
Is it some switch they flipped on their side that disabled your discs from being read?
This comes across as purposeful to me because I cant understand how it happened otherwise.
>>
>>744698841
Games did work without an internet connection so idk how the fuck this happened unless microsoft did it on purpose with a new update.

This disc part is true.
Something frightening is occurring.
Xbox became always online without anyone knowing it

>Why can’t I play physical disc games during the Xbox outage?
>Xbox requires a connection to its license validation servers to confirm your right to play games, including physical disc-based titles. When those servers experience an outage, discs cannot be launched even though the game is physically in the console. This is a consequence of Xbox’s always-online architecture for license verification.
>>
>>744699392
When did this happen tho because the Series X was capable of playing games offline. I know because ive done it myself before.
>>
>>744699452
How long were you offline for? There may be a period where a previous license for a game check allows you to play offline. Like 30 days or something. But then after that the game tries to check for the license and spits out an error if you're offline.
>>
>>744699672
Not longer than afew day at a time, however I have installed games and played them without an initial server verification for the game, so it shouldnt be a timed thing or else initially running the game offline for the first time wouldnt have worked
>>
>>744700000
That is suspicious though. I wonder if they snuck this in in a firmware update somewhere and didnt tell anyone

That would be my first guess.

>People didn't assume this was going to come from Microsoft.
Don't act like you weren't warned.
I don't want to see a single person bitching and complaining about how this was "unexpected".
You can complain that it happened, you can even complain that it's unfair, but if you genuinely sit there and tell me you didn't see this coming, I'm going to call you a liar until you can prove you're merely retarded.
Not that it matters, for as much as you all bitch about it, you'll keep paying for it, because you're all good little paypigs more concerned about X brand being better than Y and playing the latest bingbingwahoo than you are how much they're fucking you for it.

You deserve this shitty future, and no amount of retroactive cope bullshit is going to change that.
>>
>>744700191
Are you the same guy defending flock on /pol/?
Fuck off glownigger.
>>
>>744694527
no one cares snoy, paystation is garbage and will be down for 2 months soon, billions will be paid out
>>
>>744700292
>mocking people for brainlessly paying for licenses to things they don't own
Do I sound like the kind of person that would actively defend a data collection company masquerading as a remote security firm?
>>
>>744700368
You care enough to try to counter signal people being pissed off about it.
How's the weather in tel aviv jew?

>>744700530
Yeah you sound very similar to the glowniggers on /pol/ defending flock security cameras and age verification laws.
>>
>snoys cant play their own games on disc unless its connected to PSN
>now xbox too
What the fuck is even the point of a console?
>>
>>744700587
>Yeah you sound very similar to the glowniggers on /pol/ defending flock security cameras and age verification laws.
Well my statements come from a place of spite, not one of satisfaction.

There is none. They're closed off DRM boxes for people who don't know how to torrent.
>>
>>744700692
This happened to playstation too?
Do we have a date for this one because again that wasn't true at the ps5's launch.
>>
>>744700692
It used to be
>cool box full of highly specialized hardware for playing games
but now it's just
>DRM box for retards
>>
>>744697704
They're not the worst. They're awful, but they aren't able to hold on to the title of worst console. They can't be because that title belongs to all consoles.
>>
>>744694527
>recently
That was last month and we appreciate that you cropped the date.
>>
>>744700938
Idk when but any time PSN would go down I would see screenshots of people being kicked out of their games after losing connection.
>>
>>744701138
>Last month
We're 4 days into this month, last months was less than a week ago.
>>
>>744700938
Not quite. The current situation with playstation is that after you buy a game, about a month later it needs to make a one-time check to verify and upgrade your license, after which it can be played offline whenever. That was supposedly done to close some sort of refund loophole or something, and I'm not actually sure if it even impacts disc-based games or only digital ones.
>>
>>744701730
Is that for both ps4 and ps5? Also what about the games i bought before the 30 day limit? My ps4 hasnt been connected to the internet in a year and the games play just fine.
>>
>>744701730
Thats just for digital games.
Altho it wont matter in a years time as sony is ending production of disc based games.
>>
>>744702140
Yes its for ps4 too, but its only for digital games.
>>
>>744701138
it hit hackernews today :)
>>
People who bought xboxes deserve this. They actually deserve worse but this is a good start.
>>
>>744694527
>Xbox could really profit from Sony's no physcial games on the PS6 plan
>this happens
Cursed and retarded company.
>>
>>744705689
You know how both of the government parties conspire as a uniparty.
Well fact is console companies do the same thing. Its stupid to assume they didnt collude on this digital only future.
>>
>>744694527
They were allegedly supposed to start beta testing their disc-to-digital system in July. I wonder if the outage had something to do with that and that's why physical games stopped working.
>>
>>744706174
True enough, but that didn't stop Sony from capitalizing on Microsoft going full retard with the Xbone uno.
