IIRC he claimed that his writing for Demon's and the first Dark game were inspired by him trying to read Western fantasy novels as a child and not really understanding anything beyond the names of things, so he was left to fantasize in his imagination about who Sir Roderick is and what the Holy Grail could possibly be or whatever. That's why the story for them is basically mad libs fantasy edition.

The stories were always ai generated slop that peaked at Dark Souls 1. I have never understood how people love this kind of storytelling past the initial novelty factor. It was clear past a certain point that they stopped giving a shit and were playing "Write 50%, the retarded obsessed autists will fill in the rest for you". The Souls series has hit a critical mass where the fanbase will make up ANYTHINGYou know how easy it is to cope around everything?
