What are we hoping for? they can't go wrong with adding a Rito child and adult Link dungeon to the game, in addition to the long lost temple of light dungeon for the medallion.
I'm hoping that the OST gives me chills like playing the Star Fox Remake. The only thing I don't want to see is what they did to the story of SF but for OoT, because unlike SF64 Ocarina of Time has a fully functional narrative where the text and your imagination of what the characters sounded like, on top of the amazing music/atmosphere in the original created the whole picture.Add in "professional voice acting" and you're just sure to get something that feels overzealous and cringy, and if you start rewriting the script it'll probably have decent dialogue like in SF64 but be such a 'woosh' moment on what the original story meant. There's a very dangerous misreading I often see of OoT that it was good because it was "epic" and that its story was really basic but well liked because it was "the first 3D fantasy game where it felt REAL and Dark and epic!!" etc.And to me none of those are true. It feels epic, but not because it's "real" or "the first ever" whatever. It feels epic through its poetic scriptwriting, and the story amounting to a really well executed Hero's Journey style of arc. Saria almost doesn't interact with Link, and yet the game still communicated a feeling of importance, because of its context. Link was no Kokiri, but he grew up with them and Saria, and she cares about him, so when they have to leave each other she finds a way to stay connected to him even though they don't belong, and that's just one of several subtextual things in the game that relates to its "Time" and "growing up" theme. And if you miss those aspects by rewriting it either as a millenial goofy and quippy piece of shit, or as an overly tryhard serious "fantasy EPIC" you're going to create something that doesn't feel good. Breath of the Wild is already warning enough for me, that even if this is done by the real Zelda team, there's a huge risk they just don't get what made OoT feel special.
unique outfits for the tunics would be neat
>>744699372>they can't go wrong with adding a Rito childThat completely diminishes the sense of 'lost' and space between OoT and Wind Waker. The Zora become the Rito, or the Zora went extinct, and in a spiritual manner, the Rito developed instead in a future 100 years apart.Things are not truly Darwinian in Zelda because most things are mysterious and created by goddesses, so there doesn't need to be thousands of years of evolution between the games to explain why one prequel has 1 species and the other sequel has 1 other species in its place. What matters is the strong sense of "succession" with Wind Waker, where the whole game depends on the world of OoT/ALttP/TLOZ being "gone" and "all these new things in its place".Like, the story of Wind Waker relies upon there being a completely un-zeldalike present, that the King of Red Lions can drag Link and Tetra away from, to indulge them in his nostalgia for Zelda stuff of olde, just so he can confess at the end that the antagonist of the story was Ganon AND himself, for being old men who don't see that children don't grow up with the same reality as they did, because that's the whole point of the story, and the Rito only exist for that specific reason, rather than Zora, so them coexisting in OoT would be a big mistake.
>>744699372The light temple being added back in as a surprise. Other than that, nothing. Leave the game as is and just add in the biggest piece of lost content as a full circle moment
>>744700178Zora dont seem to turn into Rito though, they both coexist
>>744700301I completely agree, but I wouldn't mind remixed or reconsidered dungeons design either (as long as it sticks to classic dungeon tradition & good design) and also just like they're reframing the story as some type of "story book for children" thing I wouldn't mind seeing the cutscenes and story genuinely reinterpreted in a slightly new manner, which still has all the same tone and mood of the original, but just done in a more modern way for kids who don't need to feel like they're playing a "90s game".There's actually a clip from E3 1998 where Miyamoto presents OoT for the first time and says it's like an interactive "Adventure Book". He seemed very ambitious about this aspect of the game, so maybe he gave pointers to the Remake team about what the original impetus of the game was.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7z9iPIOo_o
>>744700496No they don't. The Zora die, and the Rito are made. They serve a great thematic purpose in Wind Waker where this seperation is important, because the "old world" doesn't exist anymore, and the "new world" is a sort of recreation of the old world but different. By having them coexist you're diluting the world of the series. In BotW it's okay because it's sort of a "Greatest Hits" game, but Ocarina of Time actually matters to Wind Waker's plot, and there's a sense of impossible vastness to the scene when Medli sees that she is a descendant of a bygone species's sage, and us the gamer, recognizing that this is a Zora, and that they probably vanished along with Hyrule.
Put them in a MM remake instead as the weird mirror world anomaly
>>744699372>hoping forsomething even more transformative than REmake2 was. a game that stands on its own and can be considered great by its own merits>expectingthe exact same game but with modernized (worse) combat, some added side content, and a bunch of stuff censored
>>744699372They are doing the remake so today's children can experience the game in modern consoles.Get the fuck out children related products, pathetic nintendos who refused to look in the mirror.
A new ending scene that leads directly into Majora’s Mask
>>744701194>something even more transformative than REmake2 was. a game that stands on its own and can be considered great by its own meritshell yeah
>>744699808a good post on this shithole?
>>744699372>What are we hoping for?
>>744699372Is that the actual logo??
>>744699808Effort posting deserves a (You).
>>744699372I'm not going to hope and be let down. It's going to be another soulless jeetslopped bastardization like Star Fox where they change absolutely nothing content/gameplay wise, but shit up everything else.
>>744699808I actually hope they voice act all the characters and make the combat like Twilight Princess, all I want is Oot to feel more like TP, but more freeform and less restrictive overall.
>>744700178>>744700651The Golden Goddesses basically rapid-evolved the Zora into Rito because they called for a mass exodus of Hyrule to trap Ganon down there and they didn't want the literal fish people swimming down and messing with anything.>but what about the fishmenFUCK thwarted again
>>744707009If I remade Wind Waker I would just fix that lore, just have Zora and a dungeon at Great Fish Isle, and put an entire fishman family in underwater coral reefs to rescue and they mark the map and give a hint, ect.
Post yfw this screen shows up in a month. With current remakes shitting the bed thanks to outsourced incompetency, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if this gets pushed back to next year.
I'm hoping for an expanded version but realistically, Nintendo doesn't really do those. All their Remakes stick fairly close tonthe original versions. I'm not expecting them to do anything fancy like adding the Light Temple.Only remake where they really expanded on the original was Mario 64 DS. Always wondered how that happened. They never did anything like it ever again.
>>744708504They literally always add content to rereleases. Link to the Past got Four Swords, Mario 3 got a whole world of levels, Ocarina of time got master quest and boss rush, Twilight princess got a new 50 floor gauntlet, Skyward sword got hero mode, 3D World got Bowsers fury, New Super U got new characters, Starfox even got challenge mode and online multiplayer, it's crazy to think they never add stuff when you yourself cite Super Mario 64 DS
>>744699372They already fucked up the 3ds remake, what makes you think they won't fuck this one up?
>>744699372>What are we hoping for?I hope the switch 2 gets cracked because i'm not spending $600 just to play one game.
