What's the Animal Crossing appeal?
The first game was actual comfy. The music was great and the villagers could actually be mean spirited. It wasn't a hug box.
>>744702206>That Chris Chan video were All the villagers just Ignore himKino
>>744702206Animal Crossing used to be about adapting to a magical world that you can live in. Then a woman named Aya took over the franchise and it became a game series about creating the world, a virtual dollhouse.
>>744702206Cute animal neighbors.
There was just something magical about population growing. It was just the most comfy game ever and it didn't feel the need to jerk itself off or pretend to be a gacha like NH does. New Leaf was the only game that came close to matching it.
>>744702206Fighting Tarantulas and Scorpions so I can sell them in bulk.
>>744702206I use the game more or less like a collectathon. Trying to capture all the bugs and fishes. Getting all the furniture and clothes. Also I like staring at the naked butts of my villagers
It's hard to explain the appeal, I guess because it's cute but with a nintendo vibe.>>744702665I've been playing nh lately I was a fan of the gamecube one, nh is a lot like it I actually think people complaining that it's so different are actually retarded or autistic.
>>744702531>Then a woman named Aya took over the franchise and it became a game series about creating the world, a virtual dollhouse.>never heard of her>before I looked her up I knew she started with New LeafkekIt's sad we'll never get a game like the original but let women have their designated women franchise I guess. The only game I played directed/produced by a woman was Space Channel 5 and it was good
Having to time travel over and over again just so I can finish my kitchen sucks ass.
The first GCN one was I was enjoying my little town and villagers and my NES games, the later games, I enjoy building my little garden town and home. It's not that deep, it's just a comfy game about world/house building, until you don't play for a week or two and the weeds overtake everything and you get frustrated and stop playing before you get the itch to play again.
>>744702842nh is literally so much like the original that's the real problem with it.
>>744702842I know it fucking sucks.>>744702902Fuck off faggot. You have no idea what you are talking about. NH is a dollhouse simulator. It’s absolutely nothing like the original.
There's no games like the first one in terms of atmospherehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJHuq_-0kLQ
>>744702376>and the villagers could actually be mean spirited. Not just the villagers, EVERYONE in that game could be kind of a dick, you yourself included. It honestly made it a lot more immersive, since it wasn't just a sugar bowl - villagers could say off the cuff asshole shit to you, Tom Nook made it clear he thought you were a fucking idiot for moving to a town without any money, Chip was a condescending dickhead about the fishing tourney rules, the list goes on. And not once did I ever think any of this was a problem, because you could very easily match their energy by whacking them with nets and shoving them into pitfalls. It was fucking awesome.
People are weirdly defensive about letting others onto their islands in New Horizons. I feel like I'm being screened by the TSA. I'm white, it's ok, I just need to visit a place for some Oranges.
>>744702902NH is a game about crafting, building, and creating your ideal world. AC on the GCN is about LIVING in the virtual world. You adapt to it and learn to love the cards that you were dealt. There’s no designing your town.
>>744702882the gcn one I enjoyed the rest I didnt. simple as
>>744702902Bullshit, Nook hasn't threatened me once with breaking my legs in New Horizons.
>>744703001trannylators cooked with that one
>>744703046Nothing wrong with that either.
>>744702968it's the same game just with more features and better graphics
Even the Animal Crossing movie got it right. One of the most memorable scenes in the movie is when the protagonist’s best friend villager moves away without telling her. Aya the stupid bitch completely removed the aspect of animals moving away from your town without telling you. Because all she knows how to make are stupid dollhouse sims and has no idea why the first game was so magical.
>>744703001I wonder if they'll put the GC Animal Crossing on the NSO?
>>744703181NTA but I really hope so. I’m worried Nintendo won’t do it though because the game’s calendar doesn’t go beyond 2030. It would be so cool if Nintendo edited the rom and fixed that.
I've been playing the games since GameCube and New Horizons is the best one. I literally stopped giving a fuck about villagers when I found out they're all under templates and are not actually unique characters like Shenmue. The only thing I miss are the NES games cus I used to use a separate player 2 house as my arcade where I would have all my NES games.
>>744703356>New Horizons is the best oneDo you actually like the terraforming shit?
Tomodachi Life suffered the ACNH treatment. You can customize virtually anything, but the series most memorable or deeper features were gutted for it, like having to raise the baby miis, and the music hall etc. ACNH and BOTW did massive damage to soulful nintendo
I wish New Horizons felt like the GameCube game. I’d actually play it more if it did.
>>744703181probably cant because mike tyson or some shit>>744703356>The only thing I miss are the NES games cus I used to use a separate playerHalf of the NES games by themselves are better than NH base game
>>744703549I didn’t play the new Tomodachi game but from what I knew about it I felt like something was off compared to the one on 3DS. Glad I didn’t buy it then.
out of all the games animal crossing is the only one I play lately I can spend hours just doing dumb shit in it like collecting things the appeal is nostalgia for the original
>>744703440I've seen some people some fairly creative stuff with small curved waterfalls and in-river islands that I want to try, but that's about it.I just left the back half of my island raised for the sake of variety.
>>744703549if you complain about nh you are probably mentally ill at this point
>>744703549>ACNH and BOTW did massive damage to soulful nintendoThat's true, but I think it goes further back than those two.
>>744703739Or maybe you just care about the franchise and are sad to see what it has become in its current state?
>>744703440Yes I like terraforming but I wish it was better, like block by block truly is a pain in the fucking ass but it's something that you out time into to get your outcome. Like the other anon said, there are some very creative people out there who do wild shit but for me I just designed my island so it takes advantage of the scrolling/curved horizon effect. Meaning my entire island is meant to be traversed from left to right and you see the silohouttes of buildings in the distance. And when you go up and other row of horizontal silhouettes appear. I have my little campsite mountain, my main "town", my shipping district, my beach area, and my farm house.
>>744703739?? There's a lot of things to criticize ACNH for. They didn't add bulk crafting until this year when everyone was well over the game, for one. And the multiplayer loading times are attrocious. The freedom of terraforming and outdoor furniture is nice but that's really all it has going for it
>I finally found my sister Fruit island>It's PeachesBleh, why can't it be something cool like Limes. Limes are bitchin'.
>>744703997your house can have rooms in it
>The freedom of terraforming and outdoor furniture is nice but that's really all it has going for itNo. That’s one of the biggest flaws of NH. I liked when you could only plant flowers and trees. Anything else ruins the entire fucking vibe.
>>744704050They could have rooms since like wild world
I bought New Horizons like 2 weeks ago. I just wanted to try it before they reveal the new one, probably sometime late this year. Why can't I customize my Axe?
>>744704179i only played gamecube and the latest
>>744704126>Anything else ruins the entire fucking vibe.I can see the argument for outdoor-specific furniture like lawn chairs or even basketball hoops, but for the most part I agree. 98% of the furniture in NH makes your island look like a trailer park shithole if you actually put it outside.
I do not want crafting or exploding tools back for the next game
I got the nh complete guide nh has bamboo in it I want some bamboo
>>744704570same but I know for a fact there's a zero percent chance they walk either back
I agree with Anon about the first Animal Crossing. There's a certain joy of going to a new town, meeting everyone there, and slowing building a life that you don't quite get with New Horizons. In that way, Stardew Valley feels more like Animal Crossing than New Horizons does.>>744704570No one in their right mind likes breakable tools. Unless it's breaking them over someone/something you hate at the moment.
>>744702206you're gay/a woman and like organizing and decorating things
>>744703291They've been known to edit some of the roms. A lot of them have e-reader and transfer pak content, and editing the time cap would be a simple fix.
>>744703739This is what dollhouse sim fans believe
>>744704821Maybe Nintendo will show off the next wave of GameCube games in the supposed September Direct. The only GameCube game left on the current roadmap is Pokemon Colosseum.
>>744702206ohhhh crossing those animals unnnnnghhhhhh yeahhhhh
Animal Crossing on NSO would be a lot of fun if people use things like the passwords to exchange items. I don't know how they would handle the actual town visiting though since that required a memory card in slot 2
>>744703039>AC on the GCN is about LIVING in the virtual world. You adapt to it and learn to love the cards that you were dealt.Give me a break
>>744705238He's right. Wild World was pretty good as well.
I'm going to get all the animal crossings and play them all all the time
>>744706041Good luck with that. I get tired after playing for more than one hour
>>744702842>It's sad we'll never get a game like the original but let women have their designated women franchise I guess.Every nongamer touching a series ruins it>Ac ruined by a woman >Zelda ruined by a casualEtc
>>744706592>Splatoon ruined by Charger mains.
One of my major complaints with New Horizons could have been solved if Gold Tools didn’t break.
I find it really funny there's a safety barrier in the water surrounding your island, yet you can fish up Great White Sharks and Hammerheads. The same waters you can swim and dive in.
let's say you were to get another animal crossing game closer to the original in tone and mechanicswhat mechanics would you like to see added? Not terraforming or villager choice, but stuff that fleshes out the original design philosophy of living in a virtual world that plays out in realtime.
>>744706892I honestly don’t even want a new game. Just let me play the original on Switch 2.
>>744706892Running a small shop or a stand, playing music in the Town Square, or even just working in the museum.By the way, holy fuck is the New Horizons Museum nice. Major Cities would kill to get one of these built.
>>744702206The eye candy villagers
>>744702617The New horizon game customization are to top notch but the content really lacking.
>>744702206I guess this would be the thread to pass along this information. The OOT PC guys are making an AC1 port.
I would sell my soul for a animal crossing game where you can marry to villagers.I want a slice of life X animal crossing game.
>>744708203Is it promising?
>>744705238
>>744704225I think you need the item that lets you color stuff.
>>744706925Sorry chuddie but it will be 59,99$ the base game and 19,99$ the game emulator
>>744708247Well I do like SOH quite a lot.If you can stomach 'that' app, here's a dev polling interest in future features.
>>744706892Dunno don't care. I want to be able to make a little town like City Folk's city area. That's why I really like NH cus I can really make a little town. I want to be able to build roads and see villagers on their bikes or little chibi cars going shopping. I wanna see villagers interact more with the world you build.
>>744704225>probably sometime late this yearpress X to doubt. We got an update for the horizon, what it mean they won't throw out new game for a few years.Btw I don't even know it's a good or a bad thing. The next game gonna be even more sterile, that's for sure. Nintendo really playing for safe. They remove everything what it even a slightly "offensive" for anyone....
>>744702206The first game and New Leaf are good games. The others, not much.
Post more cute villager.
>>744703986Cuck mentality.Others having creative islands you can't even explore or interact with don't make the games or the mechanics any better, it just gives you a half interesting thing to scroll by and showcases how some people have too much time to burn.
>>744708654Holy fuck. All of those are terrible
I like the original to a point but realistically you see everything the game has to offer in like 10 minutes.
>>744710095you can play the game for years and never uncover everything
>>744710095It’s one of my favorite games because of how simple it is which allows me to really focus on collecting things without any extra bullshit.
>>744708939Wild World was ok for when it came out. Added hats at least. The only bad rep it had is grass die too much because they wanted you to make natural pathways and hackers screw online over. If you were playing single player and watch your step it wasn't the worst thing ever.
>>744702464That video would've been really cute if he wasn't 30.
>>744710195You have holidays and visitors but the foundation of the game is collecting stuff, decorating your house, and talking to villagers. You can grind out finding specific items but that's no different than getting any item. The game punishes and berates you for not playing every day when there really isn't any point in playing it every day.
>>744703291Hasn't this been fixed already? I don't see why Nintendo themselves couldn't.
>>744708654>first three choices miss the point of the first game entirely>will probably be the most popular choices
>>744708203I played Animal Crossing Deluxe mod for a few months last summer. It's a guy adding all the Japanese Animal Forest e+ content plus some features and QOL stuff from the later games into the Gamecube Animal Crossing. Haven't played it in a year, but I really liked seeing all the "new" content from the japanese version and things like the watering can and flower breeding backported in. The discord where he posts all his updates is full of furry trannies and I'm not sure how much, if at all, they have affected development the last year
