Conner had no interest in even joining the Assassins or being one, but he knew he could use it to his advantage to take down Haythem. Conner's entire story was one of revenge and personal grudge. It had nothing to do with "furthering assassin values" and "being an assassin" you play as an edgelord native American hunting down his estranged edgelord templar grand master father. The writing in 3 was shit.
