Why does every AAA game have this soulless UI?
who is this semen seductress
>AAAi’m playing it too but it’s $25 pal
>>744711164muh minimalism
>>744711164This is what they teach in college. Also probably a default preset in UE5.
>>744711164Because the UI is literally designed in powerpoint.
>>7447111644K TVs
>>744711164Which game popularized it? Destiny?
>>744711623I'm pretty sure the first was some ubislop game.
>>744711164We lost the ability to have art direction and UI design, art direction is lost technology that can never be reclaimed and stop asking about it because we fired him and he found a job that’s actually good so he won’t come back.
>>744711164What gayme?
>>744711164>Why does every AAA game have this soulless UI?a combination of retarded players and basedllennial designer
>>744711164The real reason is because art directors don't design UIs any more in those types of companies. Most studios have a dedicated UI specialist, who typically is a graphic designer who has experience with software visual design. So all their training is meant to help them design apps as tools to be intuitive and lead people to interact in specific ways. "What would be fun or visually interesting?" is the last thing they would ever ask themselves.
>>744711164because that's what they teach at college as good practice and then it's enforced by female dei hire scrum masterno creativity allowed
>>744711164It is the current consensus in UI design to try and make things as clear and minimalistic as possible, like the others have said, in order to facilitate the user experience. They hire a designer, who is probably afraid to deviate from the norm. This fear of deviating from the norm/what is trending affects every single aspect of AAA game development, not just design. This is the reason why they often don't feel innovative at all. It's a mega, multi-million dollar production, so they fear trying new things.Making highly-produced video games is an extremely overstudied thing nowadays. In the past it wasn't, so people weren't afraid to try new things. usually only indie games try to innovate now.
>>744711164they're taught wrong on purpose,as a joke
>>744711164studios bring in accessibility and UX consultants that push for cookie cutter, homogenized UI designs that scale well across every display type, are easily readable and elements / menu's should be recognizable across titles. It's hideously visually unappealing and soulless but the goal is for a player to immediately know how to navigate the UI upon playing the game for the first time
>>744711213visas marr
I'm fine with eschewing gratuitous live action 3d menus but something like diablo, with some embossed accent would be nice and not too distracting.
>>744711213>>744711786I think it's Mistfall hunters
>>744711523If you go to college to learn how to make games instead doing it on your own then you are not the game dev and artisans you are soulless npc and ue5 mine slave worker that can never create art
>>744711164because the modern developer lacks creativity and the modern consumer does not give a single fuck.
>>744711164>image of comparison between old architecture and modern building and text of about minimalism
>>744712319nah blame the unieshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46a6TtN2z88
>>744711164I could hardly care less about the UI when you have armor designs like that and devs that bother to include polearms. But to be fair, it's probable that whatever led to having such a bland UI is affecting the game in other places too.
>>744712438Ok why are you telling me this. Go stand outside your nearest starbucks or something.
Sure it would be nice if they could be at least a little more creative but at the end of the day its a UI so long as its clean and functional that what really matters.
>>744711164Define what soulless means.
>>744712776that looks like shit
>>744712776that looks awesome
copying the last big game's transparent boxes is the only thing UI / UX designers know how to do, and UX being something 99% of them are wholly unqualified at also, especially when they try to reach their 'expertise' into actual game designfake job, symptom of a sickness suffered by corporate-run developers
