Welcome to Dubai, /v/.
>>744720976>they had an option where you could walk away at the beginning>testing showed that most players would indeed walk away and not commit the war crimes when they figured out they could>take out the option because it doesn't fit your agenda that gamers are ruthless immoral potential murderers because they play cod>add snarky fourth wall breaking loading screen quotes
>>744721489This fact alone should be where these shitty threads end.
>>744721489Yeah I bet you feel like a hero, pal.
>>744721489Where's the proof of this? or you're just making shit up?
>>744720976The /mu/ equivalent of this game.>I'm 16 and this is deep
>>744720976Fun game but story is whatever.
>>744722672that is a good album however
>>744720976>pretentious>movie like>brown filter>press button to coverThis game was all the bad things of the PS3 era
Kane and Lynch 2 dunked on the same topics earlier, better, and with far less snark.
>>744722816>NIN>good
>>744720976>still filters people and makes /v/ seethe 14 years later
>>744723000Kane and Lynch 2 was dogshit and only lasted for 4 hours
>>744723335Yeah, that's the point.
>>744722385>The thought did come up. But ultimately we decided to take it out, or not implement the idea, for two reasons. One, we felt that... Like I was saying, we wanted the loading screens to feel like it wasn't just an attack on Walker in the game, but specifically designed to attack the player. We wanted the choice for the player to fall in line with the same thing. If the player wants to stop this journey they can stop playing the game. We wanted these things, these larger choices that are related to the player, to be specific to playing a game, versus controlling your character and having him do something. Also, we felt like it would give up too much, if the player was suddenly able to just leave and end the game. Then it would set up an expectation that this is maybe what the player was supposed to do, and everything from that point on would be kind of foreshadowed as being dark -- being real bad, that everything you were going to do was going to be bad -- if we gave you the opportunity to stop early in the game. Ultimately, we felt that for the experience to be the most...effective? The player needed to feel like Walker, that what they were doing in the beginning was absolutely right. And then when things had gone too far, when it's clear that they never should have gone further in, they're too far in to get out. You don't really think that, "Hey, I should have left" until you've gotten too far in. It's something you look back on and say, "Well, if I'd known then, I would have left, but I didn't realize it." It's not the way the world works, unfortunately.https://web.archive.org/web/20160604021444/http://www.1up.com/features/horror-mysteries-spec-ops-the-line?pager.offset=1
>>744720976>Say the line, Spec Ops!
>>744720976Where was the Dubai chocolate? Where were all the jeets?
>>744724460I think it's really funny how for years and years defenders of the devs have kept trying to push the idea that the trite moralising is DEFINITELY NOT directed at the player, despite the devs publicly admitting it.
>>744724460>The thought did come up. But ultimately we decided to take it out, or not implement the ideaSo you just made shit up, it was never tested with players.
>>744726309I'm not that anon, I was just curious. I actually like this game lol
>>744726372Ok
so did anything after the helicopter crash happen or not, i didn't quite get it
>>744720976
>>744726618The devs said that any white screen transitions meant that the next scene or gameplay had something that walker was hallucinating and the transition right after the crash was a white one On top of that, right at the beginning of the game you can see hallucinations all over the place, even before walker did any warcrime like going againts his order and shooting the refugeesSo it's safe to assume that the whole game is a purgatory
i did it. i killed them. not just the sand men but the sand women and the sand children
>>744726910i'm generally not a fan of games that have the narrative of "the winning move is to not play" but i really like the way it was done in this gameit's also done well because, while the game judges you, is not like it's overdone or where you have a long section exclusively made to tell you what a bad guy you are
