finally tried this game out after getting a real PC at last. In just the first two hours, I've already experienced:>shinra blowing up the reactor themselves now instead of avalanche, removing all of the moral ambiguity>sephiroth showing up immediately after and acting like a total homosexual (he was never obsessed with cloud in the real game, just used him as a tool)>first fucking scene with aeris completely ruined by the time jannies showing up and killing any notion you might have had left this was going to be somewhat faithful or even the same story at all I've heard all the horror stories about the nomura bullshit, but wow. 3 insane retcons in just 90 minutes, jesus FUCKING christ. I thought I'd at least get to enjoy my nostalgia for a little while before the bullshit started, but no. And then on top of that, the writing and dialogue are already so god damn cringe. the scene with the shinra managers on the train was downright embarrassing. but the really tragic part is that the art direction and graphics in 4k/max settings/HDR/OLED screen is the most visually impressive game I've ever seen, and the battle system actually seems really fun. Midgar looks amazing so far. the VA, mo-cap, animations are all stellar. All they had to fucking do was CHANGE NOTHING about the story and hire a decent fucking writer, and this trilogy could have been the greatest gaming experience of my entire life (the real ffvii is my favorite game ever, and I've waited decades for this). But no, they had to big brain themselves into a game literally no fucking person on earth asked for. I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but finally experiencing it myself now, I had to rant about it.

I'm an old head who played the original as a child and here's my opinion. Remake and rebirth are perfectly fine for the most part. Yes, there are some annoyances like the awful side quests in remake and chadley in rebirth.. but they're not so bad that it completely ruins the experience. Anyone seething of these small quips are mentally retarded. The time jannies thing is definitely weird and unnecessarily thrown in, but I'm hoping with part 3 they can make some sort of sense of it all. If you don't like the games, just don't play them and enjoy the OG. No one cares if you wanna screech on the Internet because you're upset.
