Cause it's cool when the game is good and it's something devs thought would make the game look and feel better, maybe even improve gameplay if players could track enemies trough the sand.
It's wasted dev time if the game sucks and is only done to be recorded and posted on tiktok, increasing engagement with something superficial pretending that the game was made with care.
