This game is quite good with mods, how come it is not more popular? Is this another Fallout 76 situation, where the game becomes really good after a few years but the damage is done already, and no one cares anymore because the launch was a catastrophe?
>>744735850They damage was already done long ago, they just keep making it worse. Dumbing it down for the modern audience, keeping shit writers/designers/community managers around because they're friends, paid mods, making the modding community jump through more hoops, terrible and broken updates, making horse armor a joke but never learning from it, etc.And yes, it didn't help Starfield really fucking sucks, even by modern Bethesda standards.
>>744735850Mods can't fix a game's bad reputation.Starbound's source code got leaked and that didn't save the game either.
>>744736490I liked it
It's just very dull. It's not even dull in the way your usual Space Trucker games are dull. Space Trucker games you just sit back and watch your ship zoom and admire the skybox, but Bethesda didn't even put in the effort to make impressive skyboxes for space. You won't even see the planets you're flying by/towards in Cruise Mode! It's somehow impressive they missed one of the most fundamental aspects of a space game! Starfield is just....it's just....you do a lot of nothing. A perfect game for a tired middle-aged dadgamer who just wants to turn their brain off.
>>744738343>You won't even see the planets you're flying by/towards in Cruise Mode!but thats wrong you do
>>744735850Im playing it vanilla and im having a great time. I love the tone and style of the game so much its crazy. Its a very slow not over the top type of sci fi. More for fans of SPACE than sci fi. They really knew what they were doing with the tone of this game. It does still have terrible game crashing bugs though. I cant believe how bad it can be. Once my ship kept exploding over and over and even the autosave loaded back to where my ship was exploding. But like they say, despite its many flaws, there's nothing else like a Bethesda game
>>744738343>A perfect game for a tired middle-aged dadgamer who just wants to turn their brain off.As opposed to you, young stallion at the ripe age of 18, playing gourmet videogames made by the best nipponese developers. Is that right, you fucking wankstain?
>>744735850>Game has twitter-style pronouns in character creation and other evidence of identity politics>Same game thinks its worth more than 5 USDI'll give it a try with mods one day, but not for more than 5 dollars.
>>744735850The game suffers from a bad case of Todd Howard. The only reason to play Starfield over any other open world survival crafting game set in space with millions of randomly generated planets (No Man's Sky, Empyrion w/ Reforged Eden), is to exploit the innate moddability of the Creation Engine to turn the game into something completely different. There are quite a lot of modpacks nowadays that turn the game into a really comfy space exploran experience, both super realistic space simulation NASApunk packs, and sci-fi "EVEsque" ones with cool custom skyboxes and weird alien\space magic shit.Or even just that Star Wars one (which is a buggy mess) that is coming along nicely. There is no reason to play Starfield the intended way, the actual plot and storylines are fucking pathetic and the gameplay is just Fallout 4 set in space. However the moment you remove most of the writing, the cities, the NPCs, and turn the game in what Todd apparently wanted it to be: a space exploration pioneer kinda stuff, it actually becomes quite fun to play.Exploring weird modded planets, shooting weird humanoid aliens with alien guns, building actual interesting bases on planets mostly to replenish your survival needs, looting actual meaningful and well made modded POIs, etc. That's decent, considering how bad the vanilla game is.
>>744739619>over any other open world survival crafting gameStarfield isn't that though. Theres zero survival elements, and crafting is totally optional. Its all about story and combat.
>>744735850Pretty much yes
>>744735850Soulless, bland characters in soulless, bland factions in soulless, bland places. Soulless, bland and nonsensical story. No reason to do anything, nothing feels rewarding or interesting or causes any positive emotion in somebody with it over 70. If this came out today people would say 90% of it was lazy ai slop. That it’s not is somehow even worse.Art style is the only semi decent thing about it
