I tried a few CRPGs, and I have to say the gameplay is fucking awful. Every single one of them would be improved by being turned into action RPGs.

There's nothing inherently challenging about their combat either. It's just as brain-dead as turn-based JRPGs, except CRPGs pile on a bunch of unnecessary actions and micromanagement that only serve to make everything painfully slow. Complexity isn't the same thing as depth, and wasting the player's time doesn't make a game more strategic.

I hate all the characters in BG3. They're all unlikable charisma voids with annoying VAs, which is a shame because the gane itself is fun

Yeah that part in particular looks like the issue, you not understanding mechanics and then getting raped.
