>>744918074I'm assuming they thought people were going to play the stages in order the first time they played the game. If you played in order in would have been the second stage you play. Since you can choose any stage, there is no stage that you can not complete without getting dash first.

>>744918074We didn't In typical Gen X/Early Millennial fashion when a new Mega Man game came out we just picked whatever level seemed cool and tried it out, we either beat it or game over'ed and tried another level. I think the first time I played Mega Man X I went Sting Chameleon first. Chill Penguin like the 3rd level I tried out and found the capsule after that of course I knew Chill Penguin was the first level to doGetting the "correct" stage order was for future playthroughs.
>>744922634there's a password to have the Chill Penguin items without the boots so you can play the rest of the stages and end game without them. its a pain in the ass but possible. there's a glitch in the ending where X dashes, if you don't have the boots upgrade his legs disappear.the only upgrade you can't skip is the buster, Zero gives you his and there's no password to skip ahead in the fortress.

its the easiest level/boss with no upgrades, you're naturally filtered into doing it first after losing a bunch of other runs starting in different bosses
