Based ModRetro enjoyer. Did you get a M64? I got the purple one. I want to replace the purple M64 power button and knob with green ones once they release the mod kits.
>>
>>744973927
Nah, I just got the controller. I don't have enough cart games I'd play regularly enough to warrant an M64, especially not with having a Superstation One; I'll definitely be interested to see what modding yields for it down the line, however. How are you liking the M64?

Also, I hope they release shell mod kits for the controller too. I don't regret going with Extreme Green, but if they ever do an Ice Blue shell, I'd hop on that fucking instantly.

I have a Summercart 64, so I'm not using regular carts (though I do have a shitload of N64 games that I bought up back when they were dirt cheap). I also have a Superstation One, which I replaced my regular MiSTer with. The M64 is nice, I like it better than the Analogue 3D that I have, but the A3D has more features at the moment due to having been out for quite a bit longer. I'm hoping that since the M64 is open source it will get some cool cores ported to it, it apparently has an FPGA that is more powerful than the one in the MiSTer.

How's the MR64 controller in general? Thinking of getting one because some anon in a different thread mentioned there was a swappable round gate for the stick
>>
>>744981737
Yeah, you get the normal gate, a squarish gate and a round gate. I haven't tried swapping them out. The controller is awesome, at least on the M64. The backing is aluminum coated in ceramic and that shit needs to be standard on premium controllers from now on. They haven't implemented the virtual memory pak though, that's coming in a firmware update.
>>
>>744981737
I need to try it on my actual N64, but
>For PC it works nicely... with some big caveats. The default button mappings are fucking bonkers (and don't all get picked up by regular software) as-is, so I'm running Ship of Harkinian and Retroarch through Steam since I can manually remap the inputs to shit that makes sense and ensure that they all get picked up by games.
>Construction is rock solid; the metal back shell gives it a nice bit of extra heft but doesn't feel like it's being used to fake a premium build or feel.
>Buttons feel good to use so far, with special props going to the L/R buttons for being easily pressable at multiple different angles; I'm not the biggest fan on a personal level of the main 6 face buttons being more spherical (as opposed to the N64 having more cylindrical buttons), but it hasn't affected my ability to use them.
>The stick is the one area I'll have to bust out the N64 to get a good read on its accuracy to original hardware play for (since emulators/ports have adjustments to accommodate analog stepping and gating for a wide variety of stick types), but in general it feels good to use and inputs get picked up correctly with the GCN style even-octagon gate installed by default (I briefly tried the N64 style square-octagon gate but non-diagonal horizontal/vertical range was being picked up as limited on PC when I tested it). As a nitpick: it doesn't FEEL cheap, but it SOUNDS cheap when you go full-tilt and hit the gates. It's an unpleasant hollow sound, especially if you're spinning the stick or changing direction.

Retard here. Been using headphones all my life. Do computer speaker/monitors have similar settings like headphones where each maker has a certain sound to it? What's your general purpose for speakers if headphones already handle it?

>Do computer speaker/monitors have similar settings like headphones where each maker has a certain sound to it?
Yes, speakers and amps sound different depending on the build/brand
>What's your general purpose for speakers if headphones already handle it?
Vidya at a decent volume just feels more immersive to me vs the feeling of wearing headphones, neighbors are pretty far away so noise isn't a problem
>>
>>744963304
that desk mat is dope. where'd you get it from?
>>
>>744993740
Speakers sound better than headphones and if you add a sub then headphones are simply dogshit in comparison.
The only people who say headphones are better are rent cucks who cannot even own nice things to begin with so their opinions are worthless from the start.
>>
>>744994530
>>744994929
Thanks anons. Do you have any recommended or suggested ways to see which speakers would be good? Should I look for those studio monitor ones or are overkill if I just want something for listening to music/watching tv shows/vidya?
>>
>>744995352
>studio monitor
Overkill IMO, they tend to sound too honest or dry for casual use (my Yamaha amp does a similar thing, I have to use DSP to boost the bass a bit). I'd look into getting some passive speakers with a Class-D mini amp (or an old stereo receiver if you can find one cheap in good shape)
>>

Yeah, Bandai's Soul of Chogokin line. There are two versions, the one in the bottom shelf is the regular one, then there is a special one with a coating that makes it look like cast iron. The regular one has an accessory set that can be bought separately, the special version comes with all of that in the package. The Roger and Dorothy figures are Goodsmile's Figma line.
