I've been keeping the fertilizer bin nice and topped off but I'm going into my first summer and I've been basically keeping my entire farm chock full of shit. Rune Factory 4 is one of the most boring and repetitive farming sims I've come across in quite a while, it insults your intelligence at every turn, and it frequently rubs in your face that your choices won't matter one bit.It opens with a dialogue choice- sound excited in be in the midst of air travel or sound scared. Seems simple enough to choose your emotion for the moment, yes?No.It's got nothing to do with emotion. It's apparently you choosing your character's gender. Boys are brave and girls are cowards... That's a real interesting way to open your game. I'm going to leave that observation simply at that.However, in just over two hours more of gameplay, that's the last time your choice will have any consequences.You get tossed onto an airship, and gameplay will feel like a very old Nintendo DS ROM hack port for PC because it's slow to unfold and clunky AF to move or interact with items/people.While it painstakingly outlines most of the minimalistic gameplay elements/key binds it relies on, it'll also skip important middle steps. Like telling you in some very condescending language how to interact with the world, and then to use R to open your inventory and Right Click to use the sword, but it skips over telling you that after opening inventory you need to hit Enter to open up a mini-menu to be able to equip the sword, and right click is to attack the equipped sword. Which means you might be left wondering why right clicking on the sword is kicking you out of the inventory and isn't allowing you to use the sword like it indicated.

Statuemaxxxing this second spring brought me a ton of money so I did three greenhouses and might do a 4th where I grow tea. I cook the tea (a bit less money than statues) so I can get 100s of loved gifts to spam on everyone, and the fields go into statues. 3 more ranks to 100, so that's one more harvest. I think I will be done this second year. I do wish these games would last longer before you bust them open, but that's not a fault exclusive to this game. You break Stardew over your knee even avoiding kegs on year 1.
