Love/hate relationship with this game.
DLC better be fucking good. I like what's being promised in the coming update this month though
>>745171540I loved the first one, haven't finished the second because I accidentally spent too much time exploring and am a bit overpowered but got my money's worth. It's a great series for what it is, not quite sure why it gets as much hate as it does, I adore it. The first game got me through alcohol withdrawals while fighting a dui (I had to drive a lot for work so I was bored) so there's that too (I beat the dui btw).
>>745171540I wish I were a bird
>>745173654It's less hate and more disappointment. The series has a target audience and has found it, but each iteration just leaves something to be desired.DD1/DA delivers overall the best, but is a clearly unfinished game with a little bit of an issue with emptiness. This wasn't fixed with DD2, they just did more of it for some reason. They did away with vast open plains, sure, but narrow pathways with nothing to do but survive the trek aren't that much better. They also gutted NG+ as a concept which sucks because the way NG+ is done in the first game is really good. Custom teleport points are carried over; not so in the second game. Getting from A to B in the second game for the most part sucks - you move slowly, have limited stamina, and there's little to no shortcuts to discover, and the enemy variety is better than the first game but for some reason it feels less. Not sure how to explain that. They also dropped the ball on the story in DD2. I understand they were aiming for something different but they took too long to get there with the politics sublot. And I think the worst thing they did was gut combat. DD1 has special attacks you activate by delaying a little bit between inputs; they got rid of that in DD2. It feels less dynamic. It feels less strategic. And anything in DD2 that does require strategy is annoying rather than compelling. The game feels clunkier and your Arisen just doesn't do what you want them to do.I dunno man I'm stoned and I've been replaying DD2 lately and I just keep thinking about, "this thing was better in DD1" every step of the way.,
>>745176434I actually feel like they improved combat greatly on an individual level in DD2 by condensing down skills into the core abilities. It made warrior for example WAY better to play. Now I don't like all the changes but for the most part it was good. I didn't care for the story in either so that wasn't a big thing and I don't genuinely use fast travel so that didn't bother me either. The only hate I can give DD2 is that I didn't think the world was that great and they should have added more team combination skills and interactions.
Another Capcom "DeMake" since it barely qualifies as a sequel. Glad this showed everyone how much of a hack Itsuno is.
>>745176965>best part of dd1 was dark arisen>itsuno wasn't on the team developing dark arisen>itsuno is also not on the team for dark arisen 2If it's good, we know he was the problem. Kinda like people used to think Nobuo Uematsu was a genius until he got the driver's keys making Kingdom Hearts and everyone realized he was the one who needed to be kept on a short leash
>>745171540Sorry I can't help you with that right now. I need you to avoid all gameplay systems to wander around the castle a 4th time to pick up another note.
>>745171540Itsuno was right that travel should be fun and perilous to feel like a true adventure. However, he forgot the equally important second part of the adventure where there is actually SOMETHING at the end of your journey. Imagine if the game was full of bigass Zelda-like dungeons with vocation-changing loot or unique encounters like the sphinx. Instead you fight through lizards and harpies for 30 minutes only to be rewarded with another copy pasted cave with no worthwhile loot because you buy everything in stores.
>>745177427Yeah, the games both lack a reason to take risks. All of the best shit is just "get a lot of gold and buy it faggot," you can't earn anything cool, you can't find it by taking a long trek that requires you to carefully manage resources and health.Except for postgame or in DA.
I kind of like the buyfag school of item progression. it reminds me of older games. If I'm willing to grind 300k gold to buyfag something, I should be allowed to buyfag it and thus stomp the game.
>>745179536I'm cool with it too I just wish the option to find a legendary weapon or something in a deep dive was on the table earlier in the game instead of waiting until postgame.
>>745177427Why? The game clearly leans into hardcore high fantasy and there is not guarantee of reward when doing something. I honestly prefer the game this way because its not spoonfeeding the good little gamer his rewards every 45 minutes to keep is aids riddled tiktok mind engaged
Dragon maw shitsuno off a cliff
>>745180124>divided daggers and bows into separate vocations with no overlap>no advanced versions of either>got rid of mystic knight>got rid of assassin>deleted half the element system>didn't even try crossing vocations over aside from repackaging magic archer and replacing mystic knight>warfarer is cool but not a fully realized idea which is just a great encapsulation of the ip as a whole
if dd2da ends up being actually a large upgrade i'll finally play the game
Let's finish Itsuno's game with more vocations.>yellow/green = strider, just make it somewhat close to the original game with a focus on terrain use>red/green = blade dancer, a really theatrical one-handed sword vocation that has a lot of evasion techniques>blue/green = i'm stumped maybe itsuno was right
>>745179678It is though, if you explore you get way better shit way ahead of time.
>>745171540Just a hate relationship
>>745171540It's fine and even better than DD1 in some ways outside the removal of Mystic Knight/Assassin for no reason only to introduce unique, but less interesting versions of them and the separation of Ranger and Thief and other weird shit that only serves to make things more tedious rather than super fun. Just a bunch of strange decisions all around hampering an otherwise great game and only making it good, just like the original.
>>745171540I love/hate it yes. Looking forward to august patch and expansion and going to have a blast
Best action rpg combat of time like the first game. Awful everything else lmao. It feels even more unfinished than DD1, either some suit at Capcom hates Itsuno or the team bit off way more than they could chew with this game.
>>745180954If a vocation can't be played by pawns, then I don't want it. Fuck dogsuno, you fucking nigger hack pos.
>>745180689I think splitting Strider into Archer and Thief was a good idea. That vocation was way too fucking good at everything. But it is fucking shit that they didn't get advanced versions when Fighter and Mage did.
>>745186786Archer IS the advanced vocation of thief. Think about it. >Both are agile class>Both use skills with "gadgets" theme, smoke bombs, ropes, speacial arrows.>Thief excel in close to mid range while Archer excel in mid to long range (like how Fighter is balance in both defense and offense while Warrior lean more toward offensive but still has defense capability)Back in DD1, Ranger is the advanced Strider. But iirc, Ranger has no exclusive daggers skill, so either the dev has no time to make create unique daggers skill for Ranger or they don't have time to create a melee moveset for bow.>Inb4 but they have different colors.Colors doesn't mean shit in dogshit 2.
>>745186786>That vocation was way too fucking good at everythingUntil you run up against an enemy that requires magic to meaningfully damage it. I'd argue Magick Archer is a more "complete" vocation.
I mourn the mystic knight.Mystike Spearehande is cool except for the cringe intentional misspellings of every word in every skill and augment it has. Sorry I meant skylle and augemunte
>>745188408Just use elemental weapons
>>745188408Probably carrying elemental daggers. Heaven's Key stronk
Fashion's Dogma 1 > Fashion's Dogma 2The simplified armor setup is STUPID and GAY and DUMB and FAGGY and RETARDED and GAY and GAY
>>745171540I am not the biggest fan of this IP but I have had fun in both games, 2 is definitely weaker on the gameplay side of things but I got my moneys worth on the exploration aspect so I am fine with it.they can suck my fat cock with that optimization though, can't stay in the main city of 2 for more than 10 minutes on ultra settings because the game will actually shut itself down
>>745188491>>745188515Have fun trying to chase down and kill ghosts with elemental weapons when they do only barely more damage than non-elemental ones while I one shot them with any Xfold Bolt attack
>>745176326Oh my gah
>>745188853Nobody has ever had fun fighting ghosts in this game.
>>745188921and you'll have even less fun doing so as a Strider vs a MA
>>745188990I don't disagree.
What does trickster even fucking doJust makes smoke illusions and plays with his nipples while he watches his pawns do his job
>>745189028good because that's the point
>>745189065Hitting enemies with your censer gets aggro. You're supposed to get aggro, then trick enemies into attacking thin air or being unable to attack anything because they think there's a wall. You can also buff your pawns and stun/stagger enemies on demand. That's about it. They fucked up by making it too lame and passive. Should've just stuck Alchemist in instead.
>>745189065Stealthy scouting in a single player game made of linear hallwaysNiche AI manipulation memes for youtube videosPassive MMO-style siloed tank class in a single player gameWarfarer bait except the abilities specifically don't work with warfarer switchingIt's like a bunch of poorly thought out ideas that were made for a homebrew tabletop campaign instead of an action game, genuinely belongs in DDO more than this gamePrime Itsuno would've had that shit doing a ton of buffs and debuffs and summons and letting you possess your pawns
>>745189360>genuinely belongs in DDO more than this gameIt's IN DDON. It's called Alchemist and it's great.
>>745189420Alchemist is a highly active offensive tank with buffs and debuffs that's usually always in the action setting up his gold king crimson bombs, and it belongs in DD2 more
>>745189665That's exactly right, which is why it's fun and Trickster isn't.
Warrior is actually pretty fun in DD2, but you do need to keep aggro on you and not the pawns otherwise you're just gonna swing at nothing and feel like a dumbassBut it feels good to play when you're landing blows
I have a love/love relationship with this entire franchise. I loved DD1. I loved DD:DA. I loved DD2. None of them are perfect, but they're some of my favorite games ever, easily. I get why some people could be disappointed with some aspects of 2, but I can't see a world where you love 1 and don't at least like 2 a lot. I get it's cool to be bitter and/or contrarian these days, but people should really value unique pieces of media like this more often. We live in a world full of corporate slop and soulless garbage, so it's a miracle DD2 exists at all.
