It's not going to happen for any project that needs to make money back.
Long War was fun but it's only as popular as it is because it was the only XCOM 1 overhaul mod. Even Long War of the Chosen didn't reach that same domination because people have options now.

It's simply too much cruft to include on a project if you want instant appeal and sales. It's actually best left to the modders

I'll look at gameplay/reviews but I'm mildly interested. I'd be happiest if they went the Xcom 2 route of having a campaign and fast missions but I'm more expecting something like Gears Tactics which is more linear and 'story focused', which might still be worth a single play. Probably will be cursed like most Star Wars games but maybe we'll luck out and get a good one

there is literally not a single star wars game with one hit kill lightsabers. There are games with low HP enemies in early levels that die in one hit but that's not the same since there are many enemies in the later levels that take multiple hits.

Only 4 characters in a squad is a clear giveaway, it just cannot have proper complexity.
They didnt bother to take any lessons from the excellent modding community (Long War in particular) that elevated nu-XCOM to a truly excellent level.
The maps are tiny arenas, its all just spectacle over depth.
