Alexis Kennedy's new game demo is out. Are you ready to dive in again, cultist?
>>
How much of a common knowledge is the occult supposed to be now?

I am not expecting perfect balance in this kind of game, but in demo certain personalities (sorry, I am phone posting at work and don't remember the term used in game) are used much more often than others. I picked honour at the start and could barely act accordingly, while despair appears in like every other dialogue choice.
>>
Will download and try it out tomorrow
Loved book of hours, but only did one full proper playthrough of it. Still missing half the books being lawgged in my obsidian vault, but that's just not going to happen ever really
Was filtered by cultist sim tho
>>
>>745190016
Gonna try a conjurer run next.

Had to immediately remake the character because I didn't pump any of the crafting skills to 7 so I would have no way to get rid of traces.
>>
Sorry, I don't feel like talking and bumping the second thread. Yesterday was enough for me for the time being. So I will become a winter chud and just watch this thread archive.
>>
>>745190335
Balance and the secret history's trilogy do not go in the same sentence
>>
>>745190016
Finished it once, going on a second playthrough.
I have my worries, it's lacking in polish in a lot of areas, but it's got some solid bones to build upon.
Kind of scared for the setting's future, over half the Hours I've encountered are uncounted. I get wanting to make some changes, but going so far might make it feel like it's parading the corpse of one of my favorite worlds around while ostensibly being something else. Birds stay winning, in any case.
>>
How am I supposed to complete the saint's eyes quest? All of the item options except for the razor blade are greyed out and the razor blade option pissed her off.
>>
>>745196134
Granted this information came from a post in the last thread, but there won't really be a future for this series, Traveling at Night is the last game. Kennedy wants to move on to new projects and unless they ever do decide to go back and make the BoH painting DLC the future of the franchise is in the hands of modders and third party developers.
>>
>>745197334
I really hope that's just a "for the time being" thing and he's open to returning to the setting later.
>>
>>745197398
Same but I get wanting to move on, its been a while and not the most successful project.
I look forward to whatever comes next that's for sure.

LMAO. Imagine trying to summon Hint and ask him if he accepts dollars for the summoning.
>>
>>745197334
Yeah I kind of imagined so, a CRPG is a massive undertaking so it's likely he'd be burnt out on writing for the setting for a while after that. I hope they expand the 6th History license if he truly drops the universe though.

>I hope they expand the 6th History license
It seems pretty lenient already, what more would you like for it?
>>
>>745197923
I don't think it allows for mods of the games to be sold as "expansions" that would add more content? Getting more art assets in there would also be a massive boon to the community. I'd play a Book of Hours in each of the libraries, desu.
>>
>>745198027
I guess that's a grey area but from what I remember the big restriction was that you need to actually create something yourself instead of just taking the art assets they allow you to use and sell them as they are, like printed cards or something. That and clearly mark it as the sixth History and thus unofficial. I'd assume making expansions to the existing games falls under that.

It is an actually good question, like the other anon said it is not explicity mentioned as a restriction per se, but in any case, just to be sure, why not mail them and ask? I get the feeling they might answer.
To be honest I too am intrigued about the license thing it is a legit cool thing to do and a very rare one in this day and age.

What do /v/ think of the new lore?
>The axis still lingers but everyone hate them now due to the escalation during the war
>Lantern principles were split into two by the US and the USSR because they can't get along, becoming the two new principles, the Incorporate and the Gleam
>Most of the Hours are gone (especially the Vagabond who was already confirmed from BoH)

I feel like it has potential for shaking things up but if it's true that this is the last game in the setting I hope the ending of TaN resolves the situation in an interesting way.

>>745199287
Slightly worried that Corona and Gleam aren't considered Principles in their own right. I hope we see a few Hours come back through the course of the game so the past lore isn't made functionally irrelevant.

Also, crackpot theory, but Nina might've caused the War in the Sun
>>

Who's that?
>>
>>745199783
New Birb. Currently unknown .
>>
I downloaded the demo and created a character, but now I'm debating whether I should even actually play it. The game's a day 1 purchase no matter what, so I don't know if it's worth spoiling myself on the beginning and then having to wait who knows how long anyway for the real thing.
Has there been any kind of indication on how close it is to release?
>>
>>745199287
Kinda hard to hide the esoteric with massive fuck off holes in the world lmao
I thought they were in his mind at first but nah just big holes
>>
>>745197334
The anon that posted about that in the last thread here. I felt bad about not sourcing my info so I did some searching. The source is from an ama on Reddit from arabelladusk , the other person on Weather Factory. The exact quote
>Q:After the third game, do you think you’ll do more in this world. it’s extremely rich.

(And thanks for both, but especially Cultist - it proved a healthier distraction through Covid than alcohol would have . Despite the cannibalism )
>A: Despite being quite mean in places, Cultist seems to have gotten a good number of people through dark times!

The Secret Histories are really rich, but we've been working in them for years now - I think this will be the last game we make in it. We don't want it to get stale, and we have lots of other ideas for different worlds - they deserve a shot at the big time, too!
>>
Demo was cool. I only played a little of Cultist Simulator. Hoping I can enjoy this without needing to play all the others.

Honestly playing BoH is more recommended than playing Cult Sim, because there are many callbacks to Hush House

The US and the USSR are straight up conducting magic in broad daylight. Though there are still people who tried to pretend nothing happened. From one of AK Reddit rambling
>Now this is only half the story. The Incorporates and the Ministries are doing things that seem miraculous in a repeatable and provable way. Something is going on. But most of the world in 1948 believed in God - [citation needed] but you see my point. Something happened with the War in the Sun. Was it weapons manufactured by the Enemy that tore up the world? Was it gods no-one believed in? obviously not, don't be superstitious. Why are there bodies washed up on the beaches of southern England, bodies of people that never existed? How do you know they never existed? maybe the records were destroyed. Maybe the cities of the Change were just under-reported.
People believes magic is technology and it might just be.

The doctor at the sanitarium is a Know. On the other hand, we know from the dream that the White Door of the Mansus is barred.
I think a lot more of the common people have a basic knowledge of the occult, but deeper secrets are much more difficult to acquire.

Yes.

Book of Hours is the only full game you're missing for now, and yeah it's very connected. I didn't like it as much as CS but it's still pretty good.
Depending on when you played CS you also might not have played the Exile DLC, which is almost like a mini-sequel in its own right as it has its own very different type of gameplay from standard CS.
>>
>>745202368
They also made a short TTRPG. And also that time they ran a hotel roleplay game in Wales or some shit.

Yeah, treat it like Buckshot Roulette. Count the results you've already used and haven't used yet. When you're about to do a roll, decide whether you have a good chance of picking a good result. Sovereign Syndicate and a lot of TTRPG systems do the same thing, but they use a deck of cards instead.

You'll probably feel pretty lost at first but make sure you read all the tooltips and you'll get an idea whether you like the setting and style or not. Cultist Simulator is more punishing, Book of Hours is more relaxed and atmospheric, if you want to look into the other games.
>>
>>745205358
Cultist simulator is sort of like Sultans game right
and yeah i'm glad I decided to poke around menus before starting the game in earnest
>>
>>745196134
>Kind of scared for the setting's future
They are not touching it again in a very long time, they probably are tired of it and want to do something different now. On the other hand they licensed the IP under oddly reasonable terms (for free if you don't make a lot of bank plus you make your own content).
>>
the US and USSR leaders are an edge dyad using the cold war over coronoa/gleam to create the greatest corrivality in histories so that they can ascend to become now latern/edge hours.
>>
>>745201832
Book of hours has the same card fuckery as cultist sim, except it is a rather relaxed and laid back game, you are serving wine to weird guests instead of stuffing people in cupboards this time. Lore is the same, and writing just as scattered and good as in CS. Can't say it is for everyone, but I really liked it.
>>
>>745205528
Both CS and BoH use cards for actions and to represent things like skills and memories etc, but CS is more abstract and takes place on a single game board while BoH has you slowly renovate a massive house and opening its rooms again.

>>
>>745206793
I can't remember if it was EXACTLY their child, but 100% their offspring
>Apocryphal chapters foretell the means by which the Sun-in-Splendour and the Forge might circumvent the impossibility of their joining, through proxies that are in some sense themselves
>Here in a vessel shaped by fire and fate, George Collers confined a flame in human flesh, a blazing shadow of a blazing future, a Name of greed and time. Greene called it 'the Sun's bastard grandchild.' Van Lauren warned of 'the Second Dawn's first spark'. But Collers spoke of it reverently: as 'the Leashed Flame's true heir'.
>The royalty of England, according to Willis-Ford, became the Sovereigns of the Leashed Flame, destroying or transforming their enemies, conquering Europe, establishing grand cathedrals to St Spark. The alliance with the Forge begins to take its toll. At last, the Bronze King undergoes his 'Great Misfortune' and 'Great Debasement', and is afterwards known as the Copper King. His attempt to cheat the Forge ends badly, the Leashed Flame is released, and the King's heirs are merely mortal sovereigns.

Is Book of Hours similar to Lobcorp or something?
Struggling to understand what the gameplay is supposed to be from the screenshots
>>
>>745205626
That was sort of my guess as well, although I believed it's more of a "fuck the lantern, we'll pretend as long as we need but we're all about that edge baby" situation
>>
>>745207601
>what the gameplay is supposed to be
Chilling the game
>>
>>745207601
Not really no
In cultsim you have a similar (but not the same) kind of urgency to Lobcorp because the timer is always going. You can die in many ways so it's all about being prepared for a lot of situations, especially once you start making moves in the world (they can make staying alive harder, especially for the apostle legacies).
Book of Hours is more of a relaxed experience that is about making the best out of your current set of skills without worrying about a constant pressure. You explore and renovate a HUGE library, find and decipher new books, handle guests and improve your knowledge and skills so you can go even further, until you find something major to do. That said, time is always moving forward, but at worse that's a minor setback
>>
>>745207601
It's a pretty basic game mechanically. You have a hand of cards, all these cards have attributes and most expire at the end of the day. The game is about trading cards for stronger cards to accomplish whatever your goal is. Like say you need Lantern 8 attribute to dust out an old tower so you:
>Go to the church and pay the Reverend six pence to have him help you out, he has 2 lantern
>Give him a cup of tea, The specific tea chosen is a consumable item with 2 lantern, this to give him 4
>Chat to him about the sunny day, this consumes the sunny day card to give him six
>Help him out with the dusting using your own attribute Phost, which has 2 lantern, giving him 8

The room is now dusted, you have a new area to play with, it has new books to read and organize, and maybe something special like a crafting station for combining consumable cards into better cards that don't expire on use, or trading temporary consumables for a permanent one.

BoH is just learning lore and exploring the world as you chip away at gradual barriers with no real fail state. Cultist Simulator uses the same system but gives you half a dozen plates to spin or else you die.
>>
>>745206958
Immortals can't have children at all, Crime of the Sky and stuff
>>745207302
Hovewer, the War of the Roads makes everyone in Leashed Flame and their successor Noble Endeavour mortals again, so theoretically they can't commit the crime. New King wasn't also. So to my understanding they could produce children again, which results in New King down the line.
He might be Wickel, the Name of Chandler, as you said the "bastard son of Sun" which would make sense, because New King does many stuff with Chandler. Hovewer he is also imprisoned in the Hush House for a long time. It would be quite farcical if more or less a no name in in the court business comes out of nowhere and just becomes a New King
>>
>>745195276
I find it extremely odd that a) All the crafting recipes are shown from the start and b) There are only about two dozen items.
>>
>>745205626
I don't know about that but I definitely expect North/South France leaders to have corrivalry shenanigans.
>>
>>745208437
We do know that the New King is Henry IX of the Plantagenet line, so he is a direct descendant of the Sovereign of the Leashed Flame. He was appointed after the mysterious death of George V as well as most of his family, For the first couple years he just acted as a figurehead and did whatever parliament wanted while staying out of the way. Then Wickel broke out of Hush House and made a pact with him. He then declared himself an absolute monarch and took over the country so completely that his ascension was called The Restoration.

Are your options in antibes oddly narrow, or is it just my spencer is a sperg so nobody wanted to talk to him?
You can open the saint's eyes, and it does nothing as far as I can tell. (5 xp is basically nothing, that's one passed and one failed check)
You can sell out everything not kosher to the milicia dickhead for cash.
You can poison (or not) someone for cash.
You can butter up the group or the proprietess to tell you about Nina's whereabouts.
But the conversation trees felt pretty barren. The sanitarium NPCs basically don't say anything. Vincent just ups and joins you out of the blue like he's fucking cuno trying to flee it. I don't know, it felt oddly not generous in actual world interactions compared to the quadruple-nested footnotes.
I miss the old artstyle for a number of things.

>>
>>745211338
>If I replayed those games, took my time and read every single piece of text presented to me
That's exactly the best way to learn the lore. Cultist Simulator especially shines a journey of discovery, both of the lore and of the game systems themselves, you'd be severely missing out by wiki diving instead of exploring it organically. BOH on the other hand almost is like a playable wiki anyway, the gameplay is literally unlocking and reading lore books.
Practically speaking, the wiki basically is just a collection of all the books and lore snippets, and where it goes beyond that into theories there's no guarantees they're correct and your own interpretation from the games would be just as valid.

Immortals can have children just fine. The only thing the Crime of the Sky does is giving them insatiable urge to eat their child. It's a conspiracy theory in verse that the Sun and the Forge really wants to have a child so they used their Name to do the deed in their stead, and when the child was born, they would used their authority to forcefully control the Name so they can't eat
>>745212638
Prot-history =/= pro humanity. She partly wants the Cross to come back so she can eat them again. The Cross is no friend to human. The whole Eternity Vs History is more order Vs freedom. With Eternity everything is stable and orderly but extremely restrained because you would live in a predetermined universe. History just means everything can be true and nothing is stable. It also means a bunch of old stuffs can come back which might be good or bad depending on how you like it.

If you do it, make sure to mention that the fastclick should only advance the text and not automatically pick any of the options when you have to choose how to proceed though. Nothing more annoying than breezing through dialogue and then accidentally picking something that wasn't what you wanted.

I don't think I could find a way to ask people about the husband if you don't accept the quest even though I'm pretty sure she tells you as much details with or without.
>>
>>745217985
If you tell the curse target about her she'll tell you about her and mention her husband. Accepting the quest to look for him comes after you've dealt with the curse quest in a way that satisfies her.
>>
>>745216906
I think it's more that the UI is generally really fucking raw right now. It's just oddly unresponsive and jerky and I'd be really surprised it didn't get an overhaul by launch.
Ditto for Spencer's running animation and how his coat flaps.
I think both the current UI and his run animation were some of the first things to get set up to start testing them, and they added increasing amount of stuff as they went, and they'll do a second pass on them now that they're more comfortable with their tools so they don't have to redo it every three months.
>>
>>745218186
Maybe I didn't find the right way. I lied to the park granny and she offered to hire me again, I said no, and afterwards even though she said she'd be there if I changed my mind I don't think I could either accept it or inquire about the husband.
>>
>>745218525
What I did was
>accept the curse quest
>go to the cafe and start chatting
>talk to the curse target and mention park granny
>do whatever you want with the curse, either do it or decide to lie to the granny
>go back to granny and say it's done
>she's happy and then asks you to find her husband
>>
>>745218525
>>745218885
Also I refused the husband quest at first but when she pleaded with me I asked how much she's willing to pay and got to accept it that way. Dunno if it matters that I didn't exit the dialogue.

You don't really need any crafting in the demo in any case. I expect you'll also get handed key items in the game for people who didn't level wisdoms, even though you might not be able to do as many things as others.
>>
>>745220883
You don't NEED crafting, but getting rid of troubles and making magical items can be useful.

When I first played BoH I was lost the entire playthrough and eventually decided to end it with the one ending that's the most vague, the one they said is the "good" one where you dont write a new history or whatever and just continue being a normal librarian. Then, after having some knowledge I went back in immediately with an actual plan and did a full birdsong playthrough. I've forgotten exactly what I did and what ending I got, but I remember it was alot of fun. I remember it was quite difficult to place all of the ____ stories in the exact birdsong line, but that's what I wanted to do and achieved before getting the ending. I should probably do another playthrough at some point. I wanted to do one focusing on forge and ithastry, and and ending with making the bells or whatever idk I cant keep track of all this shit
>>
>>745221120
If you haven't played the DLC yet then that's one good reason to do a new playthrough.
>>
>>745220883
What I like about these games, particularly BoH is that you can muddle your way through without really knowing much or engaging with any deeper systems, but once you understand what youre doing you can do things with a huge amount of efficiency and unlock things you wouldn't have expected. I suppose this game will be much more like that. You can probably play through the entire game without crafting a single thing, but you wont experience most of what it has to offer. I expect that if you play it while taking full advantage of thse systems you'll find more and more paths to take, secrets, probably even entire storylines. Discovery is part of the gameplay
>>
BoH's biggest problem is many upgrade stations you might need is locked behind later floors. Upgrading via Skolekosophy or Bosk is pain in the ass.
>>
>>745221262
Yeah I have seen that you can now host guests properly and have meals with them and stuff, and I think host more of them at a time? I remember that was one of my biggest gripes was that the guest system felt underwhelming and that you couldn't really do much with them, so I'm definitely going to go back to it at some point. Just havent had the desire to lately. Maybe after this demo, who knows

Well I don't mean that there's nothing and I don't even mean that you cant get all of them early. I mean after I 'lawg'd everything in obsidian and marked all of the crafting stations, it felt like there were a million blues and yellows while other aspects or what have you were much more limited in their options. I could be wrong, it could be that those fewer crafting places still ended up having the same amount of options overall, idk, I'm not an expert on the game by any means

It's a long ways yet I'm afraid. Their approach to development means they like to get player feedback at every stage of the process. I think they mentioned having the foundation done but only like a 20th of the actual content in the game. That said they run a pretty tight ship so I don't think there much chance of development hell.

>Cultist Simulator
If you don't mind reading and like the occult, this is probably the best recent example of ludonarrative consonance in gaming. That is to say, the themes and gameplay are linked (you usually hear about ludonarrative dissonance where like.. Lara Croft cries after being threatened by one guy in a cinematic as she's just a young girl, but in game she's murderlizing a whole host of mercs with a bow and arrow etc) . When you start playing CS you have little idea how anything works and gradually through time, fuckups, and progression get to learn more and more, which parallels the initiation into occult mysticism of a hidden world (they call it "secret histories" in this setting)

>Book of Hours
More graphical, but still with a lot of reading. You're also managing a Library of sorts so there's other mechanics more expanded than 'just' the card stuff of Cultist Simulator, but CS is great in and of itself, this is built upon . Definitely worthwhile

>Traveling At Night
The new thing that's not released yet, demo just showed up. This one is more of a CRPG instead and looks promising

>The Lady Afterward
Technically released but not a PC game, though you can get a copy of the digital version as a DLC for Cultist Simulator or you can buy a deluxe edition with physical stuff for..what used to be a lot of money, not sure if still available. Takes place in the same Secret Histories setting, but this is a tabletop RPG . Havennt played myself but I hear its well done. I think some autist ported it into Tabletop Simulator too as a mod?

--
Those are the major games of this series, but they've also worked on other games that are in other settings like
>Fallen London
Browser based, narrative driven , one of the early titles from the dev
>Sunless Sea

How is sunless seas? I've heard the writing is better than sunless skies but the gameplay is weaker. It was before kennedy got ousted from the company, correct?
I liked skies but did not finish a full playthrough. I liked the setting and atmosphere most of all. The writing was quite woke and faggy, but that didn't bother me at the time I played it as much as it would nowadays. I didn't particularly care for the concept of dying and leaving your stuff to your next heir, which meant I ended up playing it with saves and stuff, which meant by the end of my playing I was savescumming and forcing roll checks. I stopped after having barely survived the blue city or whatever that place was called. I went through and did whatever quest there and by the time I was done (after several save scums) I came back out with my train beat to shit and my crew starving and on the verge of going crazy. It was basically exactly how the game began, so I decided to just leave it there. Dunno if Id ever go back to it. Are there any other similar games that gave this kind of setting? I'm a sucker for these esoteric and slightly lovecraftian vibes
one of my own world building projects is very much in the same vein as these games. I even have a concept for a game similar to book of hours about collecting books, art, music, etc. From various different worlds and cataloging them in a grand lighthouse. It would also be a management and merchant type game where you can make copies, translations, annotated editions, etc. And trade them with visitors, let patrons borrow them, send your workers out in s a search of new books and stuff. It would be cool i hope
>>
>>745222767
You can max out your Trace right away by fumbling the conversation with the cop but as far as I can tell getting arrested doesn't do anything and you get an inexplicable jail-out-of-free card and can just walk out of your cell. Probably not implemented yet.

Shit I just booted up the Traveling at Night Demo and they even have a well labeled large box that explains 3 choices

>Can we collect data on the choices you make?

>Choose No (or DONT ANSWER AT ALL, meaning its a true opt in) and we won't collect any data
>Choose Yes, we'll use pseudoanonymized data on choices to improve the game
>Choose Yes, Link, we'll align any bug reports w/email you submit alongside your choices in game

Easy to understand, good choices for a demo, upfront about what exactly is gathered etc.

my concern is that it's going to be too linear, and you simply move from one designated city to the next. demo was alright but if each location is essentially that, I'm gonna be kinda disappointed.
>>
>>745225619
As it is now it kinda is. Your main gameplay cycle will probably be doing shit and move to another city when too many traces. Basically Exile gameplay but you always start at 1 specific point
>>
>>745223145
Atmosphere of Seas is amazing and the writing is better than Skies, since skies is after AK left (he wasnt ousted, the bad blood came later, he got tired of managing and wanted to be in the trenches on his own projects again). That said, it's punishing and grindy. I recommend playing it until you get extremely annoyed however long that might take, then edit your save file to max out stats and money to see the endgame content. Great soundtrack too.

>he doesn't have a muse

It doesn't sound like it's going to be linear considering you're encouraged to move around a lot because of Traces. If that map is anything to go by, the full game is probably still years out.
>>
>>745225901
I'd be pretty disappointed if that's all there is to Antibes considering the sanitarium has nothing to do and the park quest wants you to come back.
So I expect it's not "never return" like the exile, but if it's 500 francs equivalent each time to move to the nearest node, backtracking is gonna be impossibly pricy.

so is there one mansus and 5 histories, or does each timeline have their own mansus? if the hours debate and weave history, that means there's probably only one mansus, meaning all hours fucking dying or being uncounted in our history fucked everything up for the other 4 histories as well.
>>
>>745228032
AFAIK 1 mansus and 5 Histories. Every time something very fucked up happens in a History(like worms) they do a reset.
>>
>>745228512

Eeeh, not sold currently. This barely feels secret histories at all. Aspects are all but gone, crafting system is woefully undernourished currently, especially considering you'll only access a fraction of it per playthrough, too many hours are straight up gone with no replacement for belief, and spencer hasn't proved interesting at all so far.
>>
>>745230609
I'll definitely get the game, but I kind of agree. It's also why I approve of their decision to move on from Secret Histories after this last game. Even if the plot hadn't advanced to this point, we the players just know way too much to get that feeling of exploring truly obscure lore and figuring out the rules of the world now.
>>
>>745230609
BoH still had this, you were essentially a sanctioned academic of this secret world. What's happening in Travelling doesn't seem unprecedented in the Histories really, things get out of control and become more overt, like with the Intercalate or War of the Roads (to say nothing of some BoH endings), and when the Hours get a handle on things again, secrecy is restored through divine fiat/mortal means. And AK mentioned that at the time of the game things are very confused and unsure, like with the solar church not everyone understands the actual reasons behind things. I bet one of the endings will involve you repairing and resecrefying all the spooky shit, with some appropriately bittersweet consequences.

paris got WORM'D in 1776 and the church of the unconquered sun is the main religion in europe, the occult has always been part of the mundane world. this time shit has gotten so bad it's gonna be a while (if ever) for things to go back to normal, but the average person also still doesn't know shit about the occult despite now being aware of it due to the giant holes in reality and magic is still rare and guarded. despite the sanitarium being a place for freaks and weirdos, you can talk to the director about the painting of the mansus and how it's still a very dangerous thing to be displaying something like that openly. I don't like the change but I don't dislike it either, depends on how the story progresses.

Idk to me it feels like if some show changed from X-files to Star Trek betwees seasons.
I'm pretty sure AK is competnet enough to make it interesting in its own way but the initial awe that drew me to the CS is simply not there.
Take paintings as an example. It was so cool to paint blurry visions from Mansus and than sell it to normies as some crazy avatgarde art. But at the same time, sometimes sombody saw it and understood what's actually happening.
It's not the same anymore.
AK simply told us too much. Things that are suggested but left for immagination have much more power and occupy your toughts longer time than perfect explanations.
And there are plenty of games with weird magical elements but there are next to no games about secret occult societies.
>>
>>745233425
That's not on the shift of atmosphere and more on the game.
You start being able to see every craft instead of them being something you need to learn despite being hollowed out. That's weird.
You can talk to NPCs like the Scars in reality are weird, but the game makes no comment of you using them to craft right away.
You're told this is a CRPG but NPCs barely have any dialogue. That's weird.
>>
>>745233425
I just don't think you could do CS twice which is why it's probably right to move on to a new setting after this. Granted I would like to see the BoH painting expansions happen.

Also on the note of the paintings, early in the demo Spenser can find a copy of a play he wrote in the 20s which is basically what you're describing but with theatre, so those elements will still be there.

I disagree with this take. There's a lot of parts of mystery left in the setting.
To list a few: Janus, The Chandler, the hidden Hours (Giribago, Snow, Rising Spider), the House of the Moon, The Witness, Caer Ys...
There's a lot of places for the setting to go, even post War in the Sun, with the player's choices influencing which Hours are restored and which stay Uncounted. You can do a FUCKTON with this setting and still make it mysterious, because in addition to previously established unclear areas, the wake and the Mansus are always changing.

Multiple people have said they wishlisted the game without having played any other WF game. Which as a long time fan I think is delightful, I hope it brings more people into the schizo setting.

Everything and anything has aspects. The little icons when you click on it. A table would have an aspect describing it as a "thing", for example. It's just general categorization.
Principles are a set of aspects that describe a thing's spiritual properties. A knife, in addition to being say "a tool" and/or a "weapon", also demonstrates the Principle of Edge. Your standard knife will have low Edge, while a god-slaying relic knife will have high Edge.

Card slots in all SH games will ask for/restrict certain aspects as a way to nudge you into providing the right thing.

It's not final, they've talked on their development podcast how they're both shit at UI and are hiring a freelancer to help with it.
