>You can't get lazy and say, 'Oh, we're moving the story forward. That's copping out of your obligation to gamers. Yes, of course they love the story. They love many, many aspects of it. But saying that your reason to do it is because people want to know what happens next, you know—we could've shipped it, it wouldn't have been that hard. My personal failure was being stumped. I couldn't figure out why doing Episode 3 was pushing anything forward."
that's fair tbqhwyfamalamnot enough people understand when it's time stop forcing it and move on
oh it's real son.it's real.
The whole HL2 development went bad (we still got a good game regardless). Valve dropped too many great ideas, NPCs, story elements and stuff for realism which is ironic considering what he said about realistic games. They should've kept the darker much longer story from early development and build on that instead of doing episodes and make a barely continue-able story. Especially HLA ending was kinda stupid.
>>745191130>Gabe was the reason why we never got the cliffhanger resolved>Buys Yachts>Buys a 100 million dollar house in FloridaWhen is he getting replaced?
>>745191306.8 rupee have been added to your account saar
They're doing the Nintendo thing where they're just looking for a lame reason to not do something. If they can't find a gimmick or somehow stumble into a revolutionary way of playing the game then they simply won't do it.>New modern day F-Zero?>No, we need to do something new and crazy with it, but here's 8 other Nintendo games that aren't revolutionary and another Starfox 64 remake you retarded cunts lol>New Half-Life?>No, we need to do something new and crazy with it, but here's fucking Deadlock lmao mobas have never been done beforeQuit trying to make gamers cum from a new gimmick, just make a fucking new game and polish what you already have.
>>745191130the problem is that episode 3 didnt need to "push" anything. thats why it was an episode. icegun would have been enough just like "more open levels" were enough for episode 2. you save pushing for actual sequels. we just wanted to have the story arc resolved
>>745191130if that's also the utterly autistic reason to not bring back quickplay...
>>745191130What is the steam machine, controller, VR pushing forward? What is deadlock pushing forward? What is counter strike 2 pushing forward?
>>745193549Real talk
>>745191306Do you think Gabe's family will turn Valve public for maximum shekels once he croaks? It might be a good thing, it could entince them to actually release fucking games and improve the store. But they would also possibly get greedier with things like steam keys.
>>745191130Half-Life is overrated garbage, literally NPCcore.Shitty generic story with shitty generic gameplay. If you disagree you are an NPC.
>>745191130Stupid dumb reason, games don't need to push anything forward, they need to be fun
>>745194661I don't know where this>Half Life is le best game leverNarrative comes fromThe game is trash, the story is trash, the gameplay is trash, the characters are trash, there is fucking nothing that is good in the game"Le half life is le good" is so fucking redditcoded it's insane
>>745194661>>745194949Faggots don't realise how ""redditcoded"" it is to hate on something just because its popular
>>745194949It's from people who actually played the game when it was released, zoomie
>>745191130He's right. I think even ep1 and ep2 were a mistake.
>>745194949i bet you cant watch the 4 hour movie
>>745195056I hated it since it came out back in the day. What I actually enjoyed playing was the day of defeat mod mod, that retroactively made buying half life not a waste of money.
>>745195056Thats a 4chan thing. Reddit boosts popular stuff and downvotes dissenters
>>745191130no, fuck you. You wanted to do episodes, you left us on a cliffhanger, therefore you release the goddamn episode, even if iterative in nature. That's why it's an episode. We want to see how the whole thing ends. Numbered entries are for breakthroughs.
>>745195135I bought it when it came out so yea no, it sucked then and it sucks now. It's the game that made me realize gaming magazines will say whatever you want if your PR team pays them enough money. I loved PCGamer magazine back in the day but in hindsight it should have been called PCShiller.
>>745191130This position is respectable, if you don't feel like you have a good reason to make something then just don't make it instead of making something you consider mediocre and sub-par. That being said they signed up to the episodic shit so they should've at least gone the full distance with that and stopped after.>>745193864Probably not, what actual benefit would they get from it? More money is worthless when you already have way more than you could spend in your entire life and since Valve is a private company (so the money isn't going to investoids) they must be loaded to utterly absurd degrees.
>>745193864I think they will sell it to the highest bidder and cash out for life. They will inherit so much cash alone from Gabe that stuffing them into simple bonds will secure them for generations without having to ever think about inflationIf microsoft is still interested in continuing gaming then absorbing Steam into its blob is the next big logical step
