Where were you when Michael Kirkbride confirmed the next TES is called THE ELDER SCROLLS VI: SENTINEL ?
>>
>>745206223
When was the last time Kirkbride was in Bethesda offices?
>>
>jeetess forces Todd to start making TES again
>they set it in the homeland of the race most analogous to jeets
HMMMMMMMMMMM…
>>
>starts with S like Skyrim
>people will know what Sentinels are from Avengers Doomsday
I am noticing
>>
>>745206347
He wrote KINMUNE months before Skyrim came out so he knew about the College and the Eye of Magnus, and the Zenimax team got him to write a new Sermon for ESO at some point in the last decade.
>>
>>745206223
how is that impactful news at all?
it doesn't tell you anything about the game.
>>

wow is that a bunch of screenshots of comments hastily glued together without context? must be true

this game will be written by emil tho

Black Panther was popular like 10 years ago. Nobody cares about black media now. Odyssey proved we want trans men focused media.
So making a game in Hammerfell is pointless now.
>>
>>745207703
They planned to make the next game be set in Hammerfell since Skyrim came out.
>>

he also wrote the books for hermaeus mora
>>
>>745206223
It doesn't matter because none of the old guard are working on it. Kuhlmann, Kirkbride himself, or any other major name. Starfield already demonstrated that Beth have lost the sauce. The only question is whether Todd can pull the wool over everyone's eyes again.

Ackchyually that was Shane Liesegang.

He worked on Skyrim and ESO, he wrote a new sermon of vivec for it. Wound not surprise me if Bethesda contracted him for some more work

No Kuhlmann is a shame, MK (rightfully) gets a lot of praise but Kurt also contributed a lot and the lore wouldn't be the same without him

That would be the Khajiit and the game is most certainly not in Elsweyr

>>
>>745206223
Lmao what a butthurt fag. He makes the most ominous posts about how he’s done with TES and even if Todd begs him to come back he won’t, and then he ruins the surprise for everyone for no reason. Sentinel is on the border of Illiac Bay and Hammerfell, so it’ll be half nigger world and half breton world. Wow. Thanks Kikebride I would have preferred to see it for myself in a trailer
>>
>>745209634
I'd rather a lil' bit of edge than the milquetoast safe setting that were the Commonwealth and United Colonies. So what if Kirkbride's OC Vivec facefuck raped Azura once, at least it's not boring.
>>
>>745212836
Nta but for me it’s not even about lore. Kirkbride has been taking weird ominous snipes at Todd and Bethesda literally for decades on Tumblr and other websites but whenever someone asks him point blank if he hates Todd he goes “OH NO NEVER I LOVE TODD!! I LOVED WORKING WITH TODD!!! TODD SAID I WAS THE GREATEST AND MOST CREATIVE ARTIST HES EVER WORKED WITH AND WHENEVER IM FEELING DOWN I LOOK BACK TO HIM SAYING THAT AND REMEMBER TODD HOWARD HIMSELF SAID THAT ABOUT ME!!*

*yes he literally said this btw
>>
>>745206614
It is pretty obvious where the next game is gonna be set by looking at the ESO map.
No matter what area either game does it now needs to respect the lore of the other.
While TES can get rid of ruins in ESO as its 1000s of years after, there will have to be similar continuities and this is teh 1st new TES game since ESO so bethesda have to have the beenfit of not being forced to follow what the ESO devs did.

So yeah, hammerfell
>>
>>745213036
He can like Todd while still thinking Bethesda's way of doing things is disappointing, particularly when we know a lot of the shit he got pissed off over were actually the work of people like Bruce Nesmith rather than Todd, who contrary to popular belief, does not in fact develop each and every aspect of Elder Scrolls games all by himself
>>
>>745206223

can't wait for people to realise just how carried this series has been by the music.
it would be like star wars without John Williams.

Yeah, the entire TES fandom has been calling Hammerfell as the location of the next game literally since Skyrim released due to the unusual amount of focus the Redguards get in that game with shit like the Saadia quest and the stupid tower theories and all, which makes it funnier when culture war tourists liken >>745206428 try to spin it as some recent politically motivated decision.
>>
>>745213116
Why did the ESO devs put the "Telvanni Peninsula" on the wrong spot, are they retarded? Do they not know what a peninsula is? Most of that is supposed to be Indoril territory y'know.

It's entirely possible, ignoring paranoia
bethesda has the opportunity to make the mother of all pozzed media here

>The 36 sermons of Vivec, sermon 37

>The light bent, and somewhere a history was finally undone. Of it, Vivec remembered the laughing of the netchimen of his village when the hunts were good. He marched with his father in the ash, growing strong in the hooks and sail, able to run a junk through silt. At eleven, he sung to an ashkhan. He became sick after Red Mountain, with the nix-blood and fever, and was infirm a hundred years. His mother survived him and laid his body at the altar of Padhome. Idk dragonborn was pretty good. It was nice to have a villain with SOME semblance of charisma and who you actually interacted with in some way before you fight him (it was pretty kino to have him randomly show up after you kill a dragon and steal the soul from you).

Strong art direction for Apocrypha as well, and while there is nostalgia bait, Bethesda showed surprising restraint in that regard.
>>
>>745213897
There's also been concept art leaks from Bethesda artists on Pinterest who were gathering reference material for African stuff. It's 1 million percent Hammerfell.

It mirrors Daggerfall. The former was TES2 and High Rock's capital, the latter will be TES6 and Hammerfell's capital.

I'm not an Oblivion kid, i'm older than that, but you can really tell most of this board were kids/teenagers when Skyrim came out, because a lot of people see their first ES game as the best one
Skyrim blows in genuinely every aspect of game design, except some of the music. If you weren't a stupid kid who was amazed at everything when Skyrim came out, you'd think the same. When 6 comes out and it's even more dumbed down and even more casualised, you're going to be one of the boomers who was unhappy with each next iteration of ES, calling it a dumbed down piece of shit, clamoring to nostalgia

The funny part is that literally only Skyrim has what you could call an "accurate" title:

>Daggerfall actually takes place in the Iliac Bay, where you get access to half of High Rock and half of Hammerfell and other cities and kingdoms like Wayrest are just as important narratively if not moreso
>Morrowind actually takes place just in the inner island of Vvanderfell

Anon, who directed Starfield? Who directed every Elder Scrolls since 1998? What company is in charge of creating both Starfield and TES6? The idea the two are unrelated as if they're not two games made by the same fucking people is bizarre. A couple numbers, or having to cut each at different characters, is a coincidence. The whole thing exactly, with two numbers each, spelling a specific phrase now correlated by Asha and Kirkbride, is a bit too fucking clear.

The Lead Designer tends to have more sway on the product than Todd does per his own admission since the company usually has him working on several products at once and he cant be as hands on as he was for Morrowind and Oblivion.

So Ken Rolston for Oblivion
So Bruce Nesmith for Skyrim
Emil (lmao) for Fallout 4 and Starfield
If Emil is lead designer for TES VI then despair.

It is a bit annoying to have it in another "men"s race area as well as something that is just fucking generic desert rather than something cool like valenwood or even the argonion swamp.

>>
>>745213645
The entire peninsula is telvanni peninsula but they only added half of the peninsula. Any sort of loss to it later in the lore is irrelevant. The game is set 1000s years before morrowind (game)

Looking at the ESO map >>745213116, I bet the north part will keep the North African arab theme (which is how it looks in ESO) and the south part which hasn't been covered will be the rest of Africa.
>>
>>745215167
And yet Todd is the one that came up with the idea of Skyrim revolving around dragons at all, circa 2007 when the idea was still Uriel V returning from Akavir. And still, that doesn't answer my point: do you believe your MC's employee number in Starfield translating to Sentinel of all words, is a coincidence?

inb4 they add both high rock and hammerfell regions completely but instead of a seamless worldspace you just pick outputs from a map like in Starfield and zone in a proc-gen square map filled with random poi
>>
>>745213897
I think you miss the point of me posting the map.
The post I replied to had the bay of in the north breton areas and the south northern redugard areas where the game is clearly gonna be set either in all of hammerfell including bagkroia and alikir or just the south where ESO has not done any content.
What we do know is that there is supposed to be ships, sailing so I expect hews bane, stros mkai and betnikh to be part of the game.
>>
>>745215281
They could never do Valenwood justice so I'd rather not have them try.

Setting a game in Argonia would require some retcons since the other races literally cannot survive within Black Marsh proper. And 90% of the lore we do have comes from ESO

The point is that they left the area empty SO that bethesda dont have to limit their creativity to include ESO stuff. If they do (by the looks of it) its only parts of the region they will have to closely look at ESO and keep their creativity in line with ESO.

>>745216592
Part of me thinks it would also include it as its about sailing and with the starfield shit they might add procedural gen to islands but doing daggerfall/bretons area and then all the islands that are already in ESO seems like a lot of work. Work they would want to slice off for DLC.

Truth is Redguards are whatever the designer is thinking about at the time. They're Arabs in Daggerfall judging by their building style, Black Panther-inspired pirates in Redguard, Yokudan weebs in Morrowind, have basketball American names in Oblivion like Curtis or Kelvyn or Neville, and back to being Arabs in Skyrim.

They can be all that at once y'know. In the Redguard comic made for the game, some of them wear turbans, and Sentinel is. depicted as a islamic golden age arab city like it is in Daggerfall. The same comic depicts ancient yokudans as clearly african-inspirednpeople with tribal masks who fought orcs while naked.

The fact that people have the belief that they can only be one or the other is particularly strange to me, since arabs and africans are not exactly entirely separate civilizations with nothing to do with another y'know? Islam plays a fairly major role in subsaharan African history and vice versa.

A lot of the place-names in Tamriel come from Arena, where they were semi-randomly generated. Just two words stuck together. Like Stonefalls, Stormhold, Wayrest, Ebonheart, Dragonstar.
The more interesting sounding names in Morrowind are just retconned versions of these, like Balmora used to be Stoneforest, and the name Sadrith Mora was made later to mean "Mushroom Forest".

Cyrodiil doesn't suffer from this because in Arena, the only place in the Imperial Province was... the Imperial City.

Not like it matters, even if Bethesda counts it as canon (they do) there's no shot people working at Bethesda Maryland will give a damn about what some random dude from Zenimax Online wrote in 2016 about some city or another. They could always make the scale smaller, which would suck. Pic related: Beyond Skyrim Cyrodiil's Imperial Province is bigger than Oblivion's Imperial Province because the former is at scale with Skryim itself.
Knowing nu-Bethesda, adding both High Rock and Hammerfell would mean that the two combined would be smaller than they're meant to be in lore, which would suck.

>>745227334
When you make your character in the remaster, you also get to choose what region you come from. A lot of the regions are places that were introduced in ESO.

>Seyda Neen is identical over 1,000 years ago.
Seyda Neen is supposed to be an Imperial colonial town built in an Imperial Style named after a recent shipwreck that was founded at most a little more than a decade before Morrowind's events, when Vvardenfell District was opened up for colonization.
The reason it is in ESO is not due to some conscious desire to establish that Tamriel is stagnant for whatever reason, it is a result of the fact that MMOs are a soulless genre and poison for worldbuilding and lore that rely a lot on nostalgiabaiting.

>Taking forever to do all of Tamriel because you keep waiting for console generation changes
>Instead of just full-assing it in Morrowind, graphics be damned
>This near 40 year old world that was a DnD campaign STILL doesn't have a full end-to-end map even in the premier MMORPG series (Elsewhere has parts cut, you can't can see areas not done)
>Development has damn near ended on ESO because of Spaghetti code
Stick a fork in the Elder Scrolls: It's done.

I mean it's Hammerfell it'll just make that side-game (Redguard) irrelevant.

>>745236348
I stand corrected but daggerfall(game) is indeed my favorite too. I grew up on morrowind so I'm millenial unc

>Spaghetti code
Its not spaghetti code and the game is still big. Issue is the player base is spread out as its too big, it lacks direction because MS fucked the team and its just basically be seen as a low priority (the future development of it) by the jeet at MS.
They even had to literally 180 their roadmap because the jeet laid loads of the devs off.

It was doing fine and they could have filled the map out by now but have been longing it out for future revenue by creating shit like planes of oblivion over areas of tamriel.

Redguard was never relevant
>>
>>745238298
Redguard took place on one singular island and was about something else entirely, that's like worrying about Skyrim making the one side game set in Dawnstar irrelevant
>>
>>745238779
It's still relevant to this day akshually, it introduced the Pocket Guide to the Empire, which is the de facto founding document of modern TES lore and the birth of the setting as it exists today

Why would it be Sentinel and not Hammerfell? Its not going to be just Sentinel and none of the rest of Hammerfell is it? To proper scale thats like if Skyrim was just Hjaalmarch or something
>>
>>745238943
Because it sounds cool. Skyrim is literally the only game in the franchise whose title is 100% accurate, so it's not a big concern of theirs, especially when Daggerfall, a game that is named after a city/kingdom much like Sentinel, exists.

Pretty sure anon was talking about the game itself, not its manual. There's little about Cyrus' adventure that's relevant to the future. At best, it was the first time we got a proper look at the Dwemer outside of the retconned LOTR Dwarves they were in Arena. Unironically, Daggerfall would be more relevant due to its introduction of Numidium and the nature of its endings leading to Dagoth's Akulakhan and the Warp in the West respectively.

>noooo you can't just make fun of my secondary delusions
>>
>>745238943
It's naming itself after a city like Daggerfall did, because the game isn't just Hammerfell, but includes parts of High Rock around the Iliac Bay. They made a whole ship building and vehicle system for Starfield, they're obviously gonna recycle that for sailing.

beth don't give two shits about lore continuity in their own games let alone the zos slop that they delibertately had them set thousands of years in the past so that it could be ignored freely

You sound mad.

You think TES6 is gonna have Elder Scrolls style companions, where they're purposefully more barebones so you can project different personalities to them to aid in roleplaying like Lydia and the Adoring Fan and such, or that they'll go full Fallout and give you a far more limited number of them but with actual """""personality""""" (any Starfield follower not named Andreja) and backstory and such?
>>
>>745244776
I think they know modern players expect a whole backstory and personality so they'll do the latter. I hold out hope that they still remember TES is the series for people with an imagination, but Baldur's Gate 3 is far in the rearview mirror at this point. The expectations for western RPGs are just different now.
>>
>>745245042
Same, I feel tons of people miss the point of the blank 'pack mule' style of companions and believe they're solely a time/budget/whatever limitation and not an intended artistic decision. Bethesda should stick to their strenghts, and that's creating emergent experiences born from their freeflow "immersive sim lite" mechanics, not creating BioWare style followers with personal quests and romance and shit.

Kirkbride has not only said he was never high while writing for Morrowind, but he has never made any public statements whatsoever about taking psychedelics.
That's all projection from people who read his work and go "dude shrooms XD" because they can't imagine people writing interesting things by just being well-read and creative.

Sentinel is just Daggerfall 2, since it'll be a rehash of the whole Iliac Bay region. It will most likely exclude the scratched out regions and I'm being generous. They could easily cut out way more of the northwestern region of High Rock, possibly all the way down to Glenpoint.
The part of Hammerfell still in might get expanded south slightly, but not much. Wayrest and the Wrothgarian mountains are included because Wayrest is important and there will probably be a section of the game where you need to go convince the orcs to help or something.
