- game intro starts in the coastal city of Sentinel, which is occupied by the Forebears.- youre a prisoner in a dungeon. You can look out your windows and see a large city looking out towards the coast. Has a very Kings Landing vibe.- another prisoner in the cell across from you asks you questions (where you decide all your character traits, background, and class)- During the night, Sentinel is hit by a coastal siege by the Crowns. They are looking for someone- a battle erupts from outside the walls of your cell (very similar to the first pirates of the Caribbean film when jack is in jail).- an explosive blasts open the wall into your cell. The Crowns are in Sentinel for you (they think youre the "prophesied hero" trope that will help them win the war they are in. - Turns out for the first time in ES history you actually ARENT the chosen one. They actually grabbed the wrong prisoner.- Throughout most of the game it's assumed you are the one prophesied, until a late game discovery reveals the person that was in the cell across from you was the one they meant to grab in the beginning. - a choice you make later in the game allows you to meet/free the real one that was prophesied (they remain in the cell in Sentinel for the entire game if you end up siding with the Forebears and will have almost no role unless you side with the Crowns. )

>>745219006>Turns out for the first time in ES history you actually ARENT the chosen oneYou dumb schizo tourist. The only games where you're a hero of prophecy are Morrowind and Skyrim. In Arena you're just a random guy.In Daggerfall you're one of Emperor's trusted agents. In Oblivion you are just another guy that the Emperor happened to see in his dreams, not because you're a big shot but because you're the guy who's going to aid his son Martin Septim the Dragonborn, who actually defeats Mehrunes Dagon and closes the Oblivion gates forever. And while we're at it, Morrowind PC being a legendary hero is also dubious since the way Azura's prophecy works is that you "become" the hero by fulfilling the prophecy, you're not literally destined from birth. So it's a chicken or egg kind of shit. There are stories about Failed Nerevarines and such.

>>745228770>You can’t sword sing a bow, spells etc.Why not? The strongest sword singers can also materialize spirit weapons out of thin air. The only reason its only done with swords is because the Redguards are sword autists
>>745227930>>745228852But wont this make bound weapon useless?
>>745228852Fair enough, the player character will probably be some special sword singer anyway who can sing better then anyone else.

My predictions The good>Kino naval battles >great exploration by boat >Ship customisation The bad>No diving or underwater >essential crew members that you can't get rid of >Preston 2.0>Exploration on land will be shit because vast empty landscapes are procgen>Most essential NPCs of any Bethesda gameThe ugly >The NPCs of course
>>745228948I mean they already made bound weapon worthless in Skyrim especially with no spell making and also limiting it to like 3 weapon types
>>745229318I cannot fathom making a game with ships but not having underwater exploration. Based on that one Bethesda employee's leaked pinterest there is a great focus on sardine fish swarms and so on. So there must be a lot of focus on the aquatic.
>>745229318Nothing is going to be procgen retard. I more worried about too much focus on base building shit like fallout 4. Bet you will have your own castle on a hideout you can customise like smugglers cave from Oblivion.
>>745225115The emperor was literally seeing John Oblivion in his prophetic dreams, the entire reason the Oblivion crisis is even ended is because he gives you the player character the amulet of kings because of explicit prophecy

>>745229569>50% of the npcs redguards like Skyrim being 50% Nord. Not hyped. I actually have nothing against Redguards I just can’t see our modern era not do some cringe virtue signaling.
>>745229569>>745229658Wish we got Black Marsh instead of Highrock. It’s sure fire the next location for ES7 but that’s like either never or 20 years away.
>>745229971Humans and mer literally can't survive in most of black marsh
>>745230003Easy retcon to The Hist suddenly allowing Mer and Men in because reason.
>>745229318>Kino naval battles>great exploration by boat>Ship customisationI agreeWhat I worry about, however, is that Bethesda still hasn't figured out how to make ship gameplay seamless. By that I mean, that the player can enter the both, start steering the boat out of the dock, anchor the boat at any time and dive off. I fear that the ship gameplay will look like:>walk up to helm and press X to leave shore>loading screen>boat appears on water tile #249 in the middle of the ocean>invisible walls around the boat basedou can never jump off the sides>There is a cage on the boat you can press X to interact with that triggers a loading screen and drops you underwater (underwater areas are procgen)>If you approach the city, press X to dock>loading screen>transported to docks>No diving or underwaterDoubt. ESO is coming out with the High Seas event which has underwater exploration (apparently you use some kind of magic to create an air bubble around you, allowing you to walk on the ocean floor). I'm 100% convinced the entire reason they're suddenly introducing sailing, naval battles, water serpents, and underwater exploration into ESO is because of TESVI and code/lore/game mechanics exchange between the two teams.>essential crew members that you can't get rid ofStarfield didn't do this, so it's unlikely TESVI will, EXCEPT during particular parts in the story. There are certain times in Starfield where you couldn't dismiss your companion, and I'm sure it'll be the same. But it's mostly untrue.>Exploration on land will be shit because vast empty landscapes are procgenThey already said that the landscape won't be procgen in the traditional sense, and will be a classic hand-crafted TES game.>Most essential NPCs of any Bethesda gameProbably. I don't think Bethesda will ever stop doing this despite overwhelming fan desire for it.>The NPCs of courseI pray to God they design nice looking NPCs for once. But it's Bethesda we're talking about.
>>745230128Its not the Hist that makes Black March inhospitable to foreigners
>>745229540Literally every Bethesda game used procgen you absolute Troglodyte. Well, maybe Redguard and battlespire but the big open world games all use it. Do you really think that every rock and bushel of grass was hand placed in Skyrim? You can even find the occasional floating tree or rock whenever procgen fucked up.
>>745229396ESO High Seas Event which introduces ships, naval battles, and sea monsters also has deep sea exploration. It seems to include some kind of air bubble that surrounds the player and allows them to walk on the ocean floor.
>>745230206Now it is.
>>745229971We'lp get Black Marsh in 2030s when Tamriel Rebuilt is done with Morrowind.
>>745219006>Throughout most of the game it's assumed you are the one prophesiedyou're only prophesied in morrowind and oblivion you secondary
>>745230310That would be retarded
>>745230373Much is.
I know it’s early but DLC theme predictions? Assuming one is new areas added to current map and the other being a new area like Shivering Isles or Solstheim.
>>745230526Stros M'Kai or Orsinium seems like a likely option for DLC.Second DLC will be about Clavicus Vile and Todd will reprise his VA role as him, both because it is his favorite daedric prince and he voice acted him in Redguard but also because it is his last Elder Scrolls game.
>>745230324TR tends to stick to written pre-skyrim lore and ignores ESO lore, so going by the PGE they also probably would not make most of black marsh playable as PGE 3rd edition says most of it is poisonous and uninhabitable to non argonians
>>745230221As long as it isn’t literally reused building, locations and assets like starfield I won’t mind.
>>745229658The game will look pretty and may even run better than Starfield with Xbox on their case, but anything below surface level like dungeons and side quests will be brushed aside in favor of graphics and basebuilding or some bullshit and redditors will love it.
>>745219281LOL/thread
>>745230649I think Stros M'Kai is definitely going to be in the main game, especially if we have sailing. >>745230526Orsinium could be DLC like the other anon said. I also think High Isle is a likely candidate. It's far enough away and to big to be feasible for the base game, especially if the base game is Hammerfell + High Rock. And High Isle would be really cool in the sense that it has its own semi-isolate Breton culture that feels Meditereanean.Besides that I could see a return to a Daedric realm like the Shivering Isles or somewhere in Skyrim to play on nostalgia.
>>745219006>Turns out for the first time in ES history you actually ARENT the chosen one.You weren't the chosen one in Daggerfall. You were a nameless non descriptive agent of the Emperior
>>745219281>fentinel
>>745230143I doubt that loading screens are going to be that bad. Starfield was that bad because you could create absolute massive ships with dozens of extremely overdesigned rooms. A wooden ship is way easier to design for you know the limits for it. There are two ways I can see it.>Interior loading screens Everything else is seamless but there's a loading screen to enter the inside area >Completely seamless Similar to settlements in fo4 you'll have a limit of how much you can place. I'll also predict that the harbours will be surprisingly minimalistic and empty and a bit away from the city so it doesn't have to load everything at once

>>745231259I didn't expect any of those games to be good though, and especially after the F76 launch following the TES teaser in 2018, I completely gave up on TESVI and Bethesda. But now, knowing what I know about its development, I have pretty mid-to-high hopes. And I think Asha putting their asses to the fire and decluttering the bureaucratic mess is only going to improve it.What I expect:>Mechanically/Gameplay-wise the best TES game with a variety of new systems (sailing/stronghold/best combat/plenty of AI systems interacting with each other)>Writing better than Oblivion and Skyrim but worse than Morrowind>More RPG-like than Skyrim, less RPG-like than Oblivion/Morrowind>continuous, detailed world — largest map to date but still full of quality content>Guilds more like Oblivion than Skyrim>Sword singing>Main story tied to Thalmor (large naval battles)>Sea monsters>Writing that's probably too safe and run through an HR filter>A lot of these ideas sounding better on paper than they feel in execution (which will be awkward and clunky and stiff at times) — but still the best TES game as a full package
>>745231413Fallout 4 is and was very mid.
>>745231259It they basically just remake Skyrim I will be reasonably happy. The biggest question will be how much they lean into the cinematic bullshit that has been plaguing a lot of their recent games.Bethesda can't write dialogue, animate or program. Why they think anyone would enjoy watching some badly animated mannequins wobble around and get stuck in the wall while acting out an elementary school play is beyond me. It started getting bad in Skyrim, but straight up unbearable in F4 and Starfield. Playing Oblivion Remastered really made me remember how much more enjoyable questing used to be in their older games.
>>745232001Dawnguard marked the beginning of Bethesda trying to write actual characters. They haven't cracked it yet.
What race you playing boys? Gotta go dark elf I think.
>>745232001>the cinematic bullshitLike what?
>>745231838>Mechanically/Gameplay-wise the best TES game with a variety of new systemsTo be fair. Starfield leaned in that stuff too, which sounded great on paper, but what we got was utter meaningless and had no impact on the game.Like they managed to make building settlements worse than in F4, so you know sailing will just be Starships on water, but somehow even worse.
>>745232139Pretty cool
>>745232204Altmer, my bro.
>>745232204Would be easier to say what I'm definitely not making: Altmer, Bosmer, Argonian, BretonUsually play an Orc, Nord, Redguard or Kahjiit. Used to dismiss Kahjiit as furry garbage but the ESO expansions in Elsweyr changed my mind
>>745232001The scene in Skyrim where you watch the old Dragonborn fight Alduin is so fucking funny because the Creation Engine cannot into cutscenes. Its like watching a middle school play where everyone keeps forgetting their cues and lines
>>745231707And? Not every game needs to be a deep exploration of the human condition. At least it's a competent survival game. Better than being a simplistic RPG and nothing else like 3 and NV.
>>745231838>>745232001you're going to get even more shallow, casual, master-of-all-guilds and dumbed down Skyrim and you will be happy
Heh, welcome to the Thieves Guild here in Tamriel, kid. You must have some guts if you were willing to find us here. We aren't to be messed with, kid. We're the baddest bunch of thieves you ever laid eyes on. I think I've taken a liking to you, kid. How about you join with us, and run a few errands? In fact, no, I've seen enough, I think you should be our new guildmaster.
>>745232001I think a common complaint they get, however, is that their NPCs are all quite stiff. There was a scene in Starfield's Shattered Space DLC that stood out to me as particularly uncharacteristic of Bethesda that I was actually impressed by — a duel between two brothershttps://youtu.be/SFqqCL5oddg?si=n0CV-P7gQ-8-HqJk&t=893Though Starfield and Shattered Space weren't particularly great, I think more of these unique animations/events would benefit TESVI greatly, rather than everyone either being stiff or enter "battle mode" which gets samey very quickly.
>>745232204Breton, easily Breton.I don't play as kn*fe ears or, God forbid, Beast races.(I will boast about my 1% elf bloodline when convenient however)

>>745232219Pretty much anything that involves more than two characters. So many quests just devolve into you standing around listening to two people talk because that's all they can do with their shitty limited skills and engine. It almost never feels like you are actually interact with anything yourself. Like at least with stuff like Witcher 3 or whatever Geralt is a part of the conversation. Not just a glorified mute bodyguard. It's just: >watch people stand around and talk >go raid dungeon that might as well have been a random bounty quests>get to boss room>watch people stand around and talk>kill boss>return to original location and watch people stand around and talk
>>745232835You can headcanon this by saying the guild was so hard up and falling on bad times thanks to the Nocturnal curse that they were willing to induct anybody.
>>745219006I honestly dont care about chosen one stuff or not, i just dont like it being thrust upon you like its some urgent thing which make me need to pretend i didnt see it in order to start roleplaying something else. yes i realize this is autistic.>Oblivion: The emperor himself gives you an amulet, you need to deliver it to prevent fantasy hell from spilling over>skyrim: dragons are attacking, you need to warn the town! then you need to fight a dragon!too urgent>morrowind: You have some weird dream then you are released from prison and told to deliver a package to a guy who tells you about tutorial NPCs. once you deliver the package the guy tells you to fuck off and go get a job.perfect
>>745232441You can be "master of all guilds" in Oblivion too. Skyrim probably had, arguably, more exclusivity because you were forced to make a choice between the Stormcloaks or the Empire. Oblivitards seems to be okay with that in Oblivion.Only Morrowind had true guild exclusivity.

>>745233642Well I mean you can only join one of the three houses. You can only be infected by one of the three vampire clans. If you complete the Fighter's Guild Code Book retrieval quest, you're locked out of joining the Thieves Guild. And if you do quests from the Fighter's Guild master in Balmora, you even have to assassinate Thieve's Guild bosses. If you join the Thieves Guild, it's basically the opposite. The final Mage's Guild quest haves you killing Telvanni higher ups, which means that you cannot complete the Telvanni questline. If you, as Morag Tong, assassinate members of a faction you belong to and are caught, your membership is revoked.
>>745234053It's one of the most nonsensically written and plothole heavy quest-lines in the entire Elder Scrolls series. >>745234520That pissed me off as well. Or that fact that we ONLY have the College of Winterhold and there's very little reason to repeatedly go there once you've purchased all your spells and done their lackluster quests. It's also missing the familiarity and comfiness of being able to go to a city and know there'll likely be a Mage's Guild or Fighter's Guild chapter, and you can talk to familiar faces, buy, sell, craft, possibly even sleep in one of the beds.Skyrim's guild's just sucked ass in general, it's so lackluster compared to the Morrowind and Oblivion.

>>745233837The Sentinel easter egg is just a reference to the fact that the game takes place in Hammerfell. Actual title will likely be... Hammerfell. There's no reason to name it anything else. Every game since Morrowind was titled after the setting province. The first two didn't take place in a single province so it makes sense they were titled differently.
Sentinel is alright as a nameIt probably isn't a Hammerfell-only game so they can't call it like that. They can call it seNtInel

>>745235165>Isn't a Hammerfell only gameThere's nothing hinting at that. I really doubt Bethesda devs, especially after the layoffs, are going to bust their ass and make two whole provinces.

>>745219281happy I opened this thread
>>745235181>>745235227Bwo?But yeah, forgot about Oblivion. But the Oblivion plane is essential to the story and you keep going back and back to it, it's the game's gimmick. Why would they name the game after a single city? Arena was just the first game without an established standard of titling and Daggerfall was at least named after a whole ass kingdom within the province, essential to the plot. I guess that city could be essential to the plot in TES VI...but that would be fucking ridiculous and retarded, how boring it is to have a whole ass province but have everything revolve around a single city???
>>745235294You're saying they're going to reuse the Daggerfall setting? This would be incredibly fucking lazy and disappointing.
>>745235230>I really doubt Bethesda devs, especially after the layoffs, are going to bust their ass and make two whole provinces. The basic landmass is already made during pre-production, which means it's already been laid out since at least 2023. Obviously, hand-finishing and tweaks still occur afterwards however. Besides that, Morrowind was made by a team of 20 people. Skyrim, just 100. They have had around 500 people working on the game since 2024, and even with the layoffs, have well over 400. They have enough hands on deck for the larger map.Leaks from the pinterest Beth dev pinterest boards showed inspo being pulled that paralleled both Redguard and Hammerfall cultures, the very extreme likelihood of a sailing feature being included, the precedent set by Daggerfall, the fact that Castle launched with two castle types (Hammerfell style and High Rock style), the etching on the Starfield trailer, Asha Shar in her latest post deliberately emphasizing how large the scale of the game is, etc. There are just too many hints that this will be the case.
>>745235294why do zoomers live rent free in your mind?
>>745235506Why? Daggerfall doesn't really count, just like Arena, because it didn't have a hand-crafted environment.Plus a Hammerfell game already has 50% overlap with Daggerfall, and a high rock one a 100% one...

>>745235768Not unprecedented since Morrowind added Orcs and Imperials
>>745235448You don't get it.According to the wiki: "Sentinel is considered the guardian of the Iliac Bay and has been the safe haven of the western world throughout the eras". It's also the capital of Hammerfell. It'll likely have a very important role in the main story.Besides that, the title takes on a meaning beyond just the city itself as sentinel means "a guard, sentry, or lookout person who stands watch to prevent a surprise attack" suggesting that the player and/or characters involved in the main story will form a Sentinel against a major threat (probably the Thalmor, possibly Daedra)
>>745226389You mean to tell me… there’s a chance?
>>745235580>>745235609>High Rock styleThe Illiac Bay part of Hammerfell is likely High Rock influenced, so it makes sense they would have this style in, but that's precisely the problem. If we're getting Illiac Bay 2.0 then we are getting Mediterranean Redguard influenced High Rock and High Rock influenced Hammerfell. And that is literally blue balling, we are getting two very similar cultural shreds of two provinces when we could get a single province with all of it's cultural diversity. The Illiac Bay would just be an excuse for less worlbuilding.

And I mean really played, not just picked it up for a couple of hours before dropping it.TES was a very different game before Morrowind gameplay-wise and lore-wise, and Arena/Daggerfall are usually swept to the side. The setting will "technically" be the same as Daggerfall, but it will be completely different, because it'll actually be handcrafted this time and follow the modern Elder Scrolls format. That's like saying Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim are incredibly fucking lazy and disappointing because Arena technically featured the entirety of Tamriel, peabrain

I imagine most of Hammerfall will appear, given that ESO's playable area leaves out most of Hammerfall, and I imagine it's to allow Bethesda the space to be creative and surprise people.
>>745236069Anon, I know that Daggerfall didn't actually have a proper representation of the setting. I address my actual problem with reusing this specific setting in another post. Also, Daggerfall got away with taking place in a smaller area lore wise because of it's improvement on mechanics and an actual ridiculously massive map that can be technically crossed (as opposed to infinitely generating planes around cities in Arena). Morrowind got away with using only a chunk of th province and a smaller map because of it's technical leaps and worlbuilding leaps with a hand crafted world. But the ante has been upped with Oblivion and Skyrim being whole provinces. >>745236183Wouldn't that be retarded lore wise? The Illac Bay region is supposed to be similar culturally despite harbouring two different provinces. They just influence each other that much. Maybe I am mistaken about the lore here. A single province will have enough cultural diversity for one game. If they wanted more wypipo, they still have the Iliac Bay part of Hammerfell which easily could have a big Highe Rock diaspora and High Rock cultural influence to scratch that itch. Save that whole province for a separate game. Although Todd kinda blew his load by turning Cyrodill into High Rock lite instead of surreal Thailand with Slavic X Roman cultures, so a High Rock game would be a bit of a retread.
Want to replay Morrowind and wanting to mix things up. How's this mod?
That is not how TES as reality operates.Elder scrolls function as a type of 4th dimensional object representation of mundus, they are effectively the blueprints of reality but not at a single point in reality and instead at all points past present and future. Every entity, etada, ada, mortals are trapped in the causality of anuic trauma forced to exist through kalpic cycles as the only means by which lorkhan saw the possibility of breaking free from the prison that is reality within aurbis. The only exception are the prisoners, strange mortals who seemingly are not affected by the causality in the elder scrolls but instead define key moments in an almost nonlinear way since a prisoner is just a slot and every players take on the prisoner is valid to his perspective. Because of this every single TES protagonist is chosen one, since the game metaphysically implies that you are given literal agency to intervene into this universe as an outsider. The individual you are playing as is real to your perspective and c0da, but to the overall overarching aurbis each player character is undefined slot and an error. If this was not obvious enough in previous games, ESO with their retarded heavy handed handling of lore and inability to be subtle literally spell it out word for word several times, most famous being Sotha Sil explaining to your player character everything in the most direct way possible. In a Meta sense every player character is chosen, by you.
>>745236794Maybe I'm wrong, the fact that the whole lore of the kingdom infighting in Daggerfall is small kingdoms over the Illac Bay fighting each other, making alliances, backstabbing each other, fighting each other, etc. it makes total sense in my brain that there would be a lot of severe cultural influence on both sides. Yeah, the Dragon Break turned that shit into Schroedinger's Kingdoms but still, the influence would realistically persist because of the closeness. If they really are doing Iliac Bay or Iliac Bay+ I'm gonna be greatly annoyed.

>>745237210I don't think so, but even if I am wrong, fuck the "here are parts of two provinces instead of a single entire province" shit. I want to see all of Hammerfell. I can wait to see High Rock in a separate game. Or ffs, they can do a The Systres archipelago DLC like they did a Solstheim DLC in Skyrim. The Systres were owner by a bunch of different peoples throughout it's history, you can have your Breton influence shit and even the Imperials all at once there. Also, if it's not in the lore right now it's not too late to add it to the lore that the Iliac Bay has a High Rock influence. The time between Skyrim and Oblivion is 200 fucking years. Hammerfell is a bunch of years into the future after that. Lots of shit could have happened during all that time.
>>745236524>But either way, it's blueballing since everyone will just be asking why the fuck can't we seeing the rest of these provinces?Who's everyone? You don't speak for everyone. I think it's the perfect setting and most people seem to be quite excited for the setting in online discussions. And completely subjectively, I personally don't want to go to fucking Elsweyr or some dumb bullshit like that.>But that's also stupid.According to who? It's the perfect setting to explore sailing, piracy, classic Medieval fantasy, Moorish/Arabian Nights-esque fantasy, even hints of Nordic culture, Orc culture, ancient Nedic culture. High Rock is the center of vampirism. Hammerfell has crazy secret necromancy cults. It's probably the most culturally diverse region in all of Tamriel.>Wouldn't that be retarded lore wise? The Illac Bay region is supposed to be similar culturally despite harbouring two different provincesThat's a wrong assumption. Trade and political marriages between the two regions don't erase thousands of years of fundamental, irreconcilable differences. And Redguard culture itself is the most distinct of all playable races of Man. Consider magic: Bretons have Altmer blood, their peasants cast cantrips, and their politics run on wizardry. Redguards distrust elves and despise magic (especially Conjuration and Necromancy) because a magical cataclysm sank Yokuda. They view it as weak and dishonorable. A Breton city is built around magic; a Redguard city actively distrusts it.Breton culture is Arthurian chivalry, courtly romance, and feudal knights. Redguards are rooted in Yokudan Ansei (Sword-Singers) and grueling martial academies in the desert.High Rock follows the Divines with Elven influences. Hammerfell, even the coastal Forebears, still integrates Yokudan gods like Tu'whacca and Ruptga.High Rock has knights, peasants, etc. Hammerfell has snake charmers, belly dancers, remote sand tribes. And architecturally, of course, they're very distinct.

>>745237610I think you sound like you're coping or dickriding Bethesda by saying that "uhm, actually blueballing you out of a whole chunks of provinces that likely we won't have a chance to ever explore ourselves in another game is le good". ESO sucks and is gay, and since we're talking Illac Bay+ the parts if the province we won't get to explore are the northern ones. Which border Skyrim. And it doesn't really make sense to make another game with is southern Skyrim+ with chunks of those provinces or to make a sequel with the upper halves of both provinces, that would just seem like money siphoning in a vein of microtransactions. "Buy another game to get the second half of the map!".Redguard distrust of magic is the same shit as the Nordic distrust of magic where they're coping with past failures like another anon said (Sword Singing exploding a continent for Redguards and Jurgen's spergout about the Thu'um because of a single (1) lost war with the Nords), so it makes sense that the magic would slowly creep back in, at least in certain places, especially one that borders High Rock. Again, this is the one place when lore can be realistically expanded, especially considering that it's been so much fucking time since the whole Oblivion Crisis and Skyrim was constantly implying that the world is going through rapid changes. A High Rock influenced Illac Bay region of Hammerfell makes much, much more sense for having some relatable wypipo rep in a negro province, rather than just giving us half-doses of two provinces.
>>745238286You're not making any sense at all , schizo !!!!!
>>745238275The way spaceships work in Starfield is that you get transported to another distinct, playable space where you get to "fly" around and shoot at ships or fly toward pre-placed objects. But you couldn't actually fly in the sense that you could leave this specific playable space to actually fly to a planet or to another galaxy (outside of menus of course). They only recently made it so that you could fly to planets in the same solar system, 2.5 years after launch, but it's also not seamless experience. First of all, you have to "trigger" this mode by holding down a button, to which your ship starts speeding up immensely, but it's also incredible apparent that all they did is create a new, expanded space for your ship and layer jpegs on it. Ships and unique locations in the solar system aren't actually rendered, you only see them because they have an icon in that space that you can fly toward. If you fly toward an icon, a "warp" animation plays (even if you're a couple km away from said ship, yes I know, it doesn't make sense) and the ship or unique location magically appears in front of you. Funnily enough, if you fly toward a ring planet, then try to fly past it (but close to its orbit), you start to see a huge gap between the ring and the planet itself, where the two jpgs stop meeting (because you're too close to it). I suppose they're two separate images and are layered lmao. Also your ship starts bouncing off the surface of the planet as you fly past as if its a bouncy ball.Long story short, Starfield was shit.

>>745238784>but it's also incredible apparent that all they did is create a new, expanded space for your ship and layer jpegs on itNo, that is not what is happening. It is actually moving in real space, each solar system is an actual instanced world chunk. The switch to cruise mode is because of the way world origin functions the further the player would for from world origin the more float errors you would get and it also made random encounters impossible. During cruise mode technically you being the center of the world space origin.>Ships and unique locations in the solar system aren't actually renderedThey are, why are you literally making shit up.This is not defending starfield on my side, I hate that game, but literally why make shit up when you are neither a coder nor a modder so you haven't seen the back end of it.

>>745238784>>745242759When you saw the old videos of people bumping into "jpg", that was speeding past the boundaries using console commands which precisely caused the world origin lod issues, what ships used to bump into were unloaded Lods hence why they have collision at all, they are 3d models if they were to load properly. In current patch/iteration ships actually travel in real space without faking, but by using this bizarre hack where cruise mode for the purpose of long distance travel changes how world origin works. This is why when you get encounters in cruise mode it pulls you out back into real real space, it switches to stationary version of the world chunk with new world origin set.
>>745231413>Fallout 4 was great.
>>745242934I will explain for brainlets how this would function in case of ships. You would sail a ship in real time in an area with certain bounds, lets say in a radius of Skyrim map from the start of your journey, from the moment you sail out you can travel interact and have combat in real space in real time without any faking.Once you reach boundary of this Skyrim sized radius from your initial starting point you get a trigger something like>Wind is risingWhich will prompt you to go full speed ahead, from that moment you continue sailing in real time but you sail at a higher speed and technically speaking no enemies or encounters can spawn at all, you are almost like a ghost traveling through a parallel version of reality overlayed over the real one.Whenever you reach location you wanted to reach, or if you decide to stop, or if an RNG script forces a random encounter you will be kicked out of this high wind mode. Once you are kicked out of this mode enemies can spawn again, the RNG encounter that was scripted to trigger will most likely play out, or if you stopped yourself you can leave the ship now jump into water and whatever, from the moment you stopped there is a new real space radius around you size of Skyrim where you don't actually have bugs and issues. In both real mode and cruise mode you are traveling through the same giant sea map, the geometry and locations are not faked but encounters and interactions with the world other than travel are impossible in Cruise mode until you stop or are forced to stop which anchors a new world origin for the sea.
>>745243379Honestly that sounds pretty shit. Like from a gameplay perspective that sounds like wind waker, a big expanse of nothing that exists between the actually fun parts of the game.I don't think the sea zones near Hammerfell are so large they need to do this. It's not outer space. They can just make an actual sea and populate it with islands, enemies, random spawning pirate ships, and various hidden things.
>>745242759>They are, why are you literally making shit up.Except they are literally not you fucking retard>but literally why make shit upI played the game moron
>>745243379Yeah so like Starfield but on a 2D plane so in other words it's shit but because ships and unique locations are (most likely) actually visible to you and not just icons you travel towards until they appear before you after some load flash, it'll at least be somewhat better than Starfield
>>745243631I am a modder actively working on mods related to cruise mode, I don't understand what kind of cope you are going through right now but this is not how space in shitfield works. >>745243594>>745243902You are correct, but as I said this would be necessary only when you reach the edge of the initial area, which is at least as big as Skyrim/Fallout4/76 maps if they don't increase it further thanks to better hardware of what I assume it's next Xbox. This is necessary only if they again encounter world origin errors if the sailing will go really really far.Otherwise it can function like blackflag if the size of the sea does not extend beyond that radius.

>>745219006>Turns out for the first time in ES history you actually ARENT the chosen one. This isn't a first at all even just in the main games. Fuck you and die
>>745223960>you arent the chosen one in oblivionThis is going to sound autistic but im the one who has the take the amulet to joffrey and if i dont do that the daedric win, world ends.I dont care about the lore reason, its more about the urgency of suddenly being thrown into a struggle to save the world where it feels like I have to pretend it never happened if i want to go do something else in the game. I think when people complain about "chosen one" stuff what they really mean is they dont like the urgency they are thrust into before they get a chance to explore the game.
>>745226512Per blades lore, both are loyal to the empire, but the surrender for them was a stab in the back.
>>745245863The universe engineers you to be the chosen one by its own nature.
i cant bring myself to play a non nord in skyrim because of my lore autism questioning why anyone else would be the dragonborne so i hope they dont do something similar in the next game
>>745237694No beast country will be in a mainstream game, there aren't enough furries and even less scalies. When given options to do characters people reliably choose John Fighter, the 6'2" huwite muscle man.
>>745234446woke shit and how redguards built skyrim

>>745242602The point of beyond Skyrim is less to explore new regions than seeing how they evolved since the 3rd eraWhich means only the Cyrodill and maybe morrowind project are interesting
It's gonna be dogshit. I think this will be the game that finally turns people off of Bethesda's "hehe funni bugs". They are funny and endearing when the game is otherwise great. But when you release a bad game and there's Bethesda bugs, I dunno how even normies will palatilize it. These kinds of fantasy games attract a certain kind of normie, a more serious one. They have historically release janky games with janky physics. I don't see why it would change with TES 6. And unfortunately the few games they've been putting out have been getting progressively shittier in just about every measurement. So even if the normies swallow the dogshit writing, the terrible performance, the 30 year old left-click/right trigger slash fighting mechanics, it will blow up in their faces. I really hope they go a different direction with the fighting gameplay, but I don't trust them to do anything else well. Grim.
>>745245904In another words Joffrey is the chosen one and you are his sidekick. You are not the chosen one.
>>745246816Bugthesda has been dead since Fallout 4. They don't make crashfests full of bugs anymore. It's an old meme. Their games have gotten more and more polished every time, Starfield is their best yet in that regard. Problem is it's a polished turd.

>>745233590I'm using a mod to play as a Alfiq Khajiit in Morrowind. It's fun.
>>745246870yeah the problem with reading one sentence then replying is you look like a fucking retard.
>>745223960The whole point of Morrowind is that you might not be the hero of prophecy. It is, in fact, up to (You), because that's the kind of game The Elder Scrolls is supposed to be. The developers thought of some events, but without the player, there is no event.
>>745219006I wonder if well have access to canons and muskets/flintlocks in this game, because I'm betting they're gonna play with the pirate aesthetic
>>745231237You can not dive in Starfield
>>745219006Not a bad idea. But I'm thinking playing into the mystery a bit more. Morrowind had the whole False-Incarnate deal, but really missed the mark by not having one around at the same time you were. It's rather obvious due to both standard BGS plot and how the prisoner works metaphysically that you can never not be the prophesied Hero, but having a second guy going around claiming and being a part of the plot would be nice.
>>745223960You are the Hero. You are always proceeded by Prophecy. The Prisoner is YOU. You are the Hero. No Prophecy means no event which means you don't get to play a real nobody.
>>745247464I hope so. That was the main reason I thought Avowed was an okay game. Give me more arquebuses.
>>745231259Liked all of those. Then again, I have the same tastes as a Racoon. The moment they put out something I don't like, I'm leaving just like I did with Star Wars.
>>745219006>aren't chosen onethat's in fucking Oblivion, retard, the chosen one was supposed to be fucking Boromir but in this timeline the heir to the blood is just a fucking cuck priest / monk in training, so your PC had to babysit him, and you're the one doing his duty>not chosen but become chosen one anyway after trials and tribulationagain, fuckface, that's in Morrowind, there's a million Nerevarine "awakened" by Azura before your PC, along side your PC, just as there's a million Sleepers awakened by Dagoth Ur. It's just fucking happenstance your PC was able to overcome every single challenges where the others fail, it's the climbing over the shoulders of giants metaphor, where the RNG just piles on trials and errors and your PC just managed to cling over each pile towards the top. That's fucking right, both Azura and Dagoth Ur were playing the long con and relying on RNG trying to manifest the Nerevarine over eons, trying to birth the anomaly that would ultimately fulfill the prophecy at every single steps and complete the circle / equation
>>745237153You seem autistic. Working yourself up over nothing. Bethesda isn’t smart enough to do cultural influence. If it’s iliac bay and not just hammerfell it will be medieval France and medieval Muslims with zero influence on each other. Look how they handled other cultures within the same provinces, colovian and nibanese aren’t a thing anymore just generic imperial.
>>745248895NTA but how did they do ESO? I've never played it. Did they butcher the previous lore like Morrowind? How about the foreign land, the Asian, Akavir, monkey people? tiger people? (Not khajit)
>>745249056Oh, I saw the ESO Tsaesci. I'll spoiler it so you don't accidentally read it and get mad. Tsaesci are just generic humanoids.
>>745249134Just like Oblivion?Honestly, now that they've appeared as generic human man for the last two decades, I'm just going to imagine Tsaesci from now on as just Fantasy Snake Goa'uld
>>745219006Nice AI post faggot
>>745219006>rns out for the first time in ES history you actually ARENT the chosen oneidiot
>>745223960No, only Skyrim. In Skyrim you're 100% a Dragonborn and could do animay shit from the beginning, there is no doubt about it, since Dragonborns are fucking rare. Which is why the game sucks. Your PC is a fucking animay chuunibyou special snowflake from the beginning, like most games they want to pamper you, the player, as the most specialest snowfalkes ever. Bloat your fucking ego, like most kpop mmo gachaslop rpg etc.Morrowind is different because of how janky prophecy works. There were numerous "chosen ones" before your Player Character, each one of these Nerevarine fulfilled certain parts of the prophecy, but all of them failed until your PC.
>>745229557>The emperor was literally seeing John Oblivion in his prophetic dreams, because hes seeing his death and you happen to be some guy who as around when he died. martin is the "chosen one" of oblivions story
>>745219006WE
>>745249725 In this case the fulfillment (or destruction) or prophecy depends entirely on the result of trials and tribulations that the "Hero" faces, the challenges. You have to actually complete the tribal tests for example to be officially called the Nerevarine by the tribes. So in this case the Hero's Journey literally is what makes your PC the Hero. This is what the Dark Souls games excel at. Trials and tribulations. Hard fucking challenges etc. Again, in Harry Potter, there were multiple candidates worthy of that prophecy, but it was Voldemort that ironically believed in that prophecy that set he ball rolling, killing the babies in that night. Eventually he tried to kill baby Harry and the resulting action actually marked the start of his downfall. And then again, Harry was not the only surviving baby that night. Baby Neville too survived, and he was actually the other chosen one. There were TWO chosen ones throughout the book/movie and both of them succeded in killing Voldemort at the same time. So Harry wasn't the only fucking Nerevarine. Dark Souls 3 had Anri, Sieggy and Hawkwood as the other chosen ones along your PC. Gundyr was also a chosen ones. The trailer guy in Elden Ring was a chosen one, the finger helmet guy in the fucking game cover was the actual chosen one, and you actually get to meet both of them in-game.
