>get 7 hours in>only unlocked a dash, wall jump and projectile and I'm just farting around the same giant samey rooms with samey enemies>realize if I was playing a metroid game I would literally start with wall jumps, projectiles and I would already have unlocked three sifferent beams, a grappling hook, high jump, spin attack, infinite jumps, rockets, super rockets, bombs, power bombs, xray vision, super speed and shine sparking by now.>i.e. I would have already beaten the game>but here I am, farting around and spamming dash navigating black and white rooms with the same enemies I've been fighting for hoursGuess which one is more coveted.
The one with a more interesting world. Metroid planets are boring as shit.
I'm sick of 2d backtracking simulators especially if there's nothing to the soundtrack or graphics that's appealing. Even worse if the combat feels dated.
>>745229330Hollowknight is almost completely monotone and the sad music wears really fucking thin after 40 hours.
>>745229420I like the effort but into the orchestra but yeah the tone gets tiresome eventually. Megaman had the right idea just throw in insane upbeat techno at the same volume 24/7
I find it funny how much shit Hollow Knight just ripped off 1:1 from Dark Souls but because the average Hollow Knight fan is never going to play Dark Souls, they're completely unaware of how unoriginal it is.
>play this game for five minutes>it's badfast forward four years>bored>give it another try>get really into it and can't stop playingEach to they're own, mate
>>745229910bro the overlap here on /v/ is 1 on 1
>>745230142maybe on /v/ but the broader Hollow Knight community is filled with secondaries who just watched their favorite e-celeb play it, and people who played the game because it was a popular indie platformer.I personally used to know several people who were obsessed with Hollow Knight but would never touch Dark Souls because it "wasn't their kind of game"
>>745229910you say this but HK is literally the only melee metroidvania where you have an actually good healing mechanic instead of estus flask
>>745228864I just did a 105% run in 11.5 hours last week. The game is much more enjoyable when you know what paths are open to you at any given time. Super Metroid has cool music and everything but the combat and platforming doesn't really engage me.
