2006you felt the tide turning with the quality of good games declining and the slop accelerating. that combined with a pathetic presentation of the ps3 at e3its been bad for at least 10 years.
>>745229374When they announced the PS2.Look how many snooze fests we had on that compared to the PS1, PS2 felt like a shittyer Dreamcast with the same quality of games.
After the first Playstation. PS2 was still really great, amazing even, but not as soulful as the first. Really though, it was almost as good as the first one. PS3 was still pretty great, even though it took some years for it to get good. PS4 was barely ok. PS5 is garbage,If we imagine it as a diagram, then:PS1 95 pointsPS2 92PS3 80PS4 61PS5 22The numbers are just estimates of how lovely they are, their just there to draw you a picture of what the decline looks like because I'm too lazy to open paint. Also everything in this post is pure facts.
>>745230595they're
>>745229374i guess thisthe ps3 had a lot of issues (forcing in a bluray player, the architecture, bluray itself being slow) that all stemmed from reasonable assumptions:>dvd in ps2 worked>ps3 is the cheapest bluray player>we wholly own the bluray format and want to push it>we have the most powerful chip on the market>bluray is a superior standarddespite making sense on paper, all these assumptions were inevitably to the ps3's detriment, but everything would have been fine if the bean-counters and execs hadn't said "yes, playstation is big enough, people WILL spend 599 US dollars on nogaems and nomovies."yeah sony survived just fine but them surviving taught them entirely the wrong lessons, like "movie is the future" and "gamers only buy a few games" and "playstation doesn't need to be unique and interesting, we just need to extract money from customers"
>>745230391ps2 was fine but that was also the time sony lost their reputation for quality electronics that they held singlehandedly throughout the 90s which was likely the fault of the playstation being so popular and their focus shifting to that
>>745229324It started with the decline of AAA (western at least) in general, which I would say began showing the first symptoms in the PS360 generation, though at that time it wasn't so bad and still quite easily overlooked. During the PS4 time it very, very quickly got way worse and PS turned to worthless dogshit, PS5 is even worse though not by much since PS4 by the end of the generation was already scraping the bottom, there wasn't much room left for the PS5 to fall even further.
There's a book on Playstation? That's pretty cool.
>>745229324PS3, when they killed the Vita they died
>>745229324Early 2000s when PS2 was set to replace it
>>745229374FPBP as usual.
PS3, the 360 and Wii both raped them
>>745229521Fuck you I got mine
>>745229374Yeah, they did turn things around for PS3 in the end but that first half of its life was rough
