I imagine after enough time you're able to intuit the kanji based on the general shape and the context in which they appear (i.e., what would make the most sense based on the surrounding characters).i.e., in the first line I can see the kanji for "inside" (内) and the kanji for entrance (入) so you might instantly assume it's something to do with entering a place and then work backwards from there.Not too dissimilar to pic related.
