Could be worse, he could be Ed O'Neill. If I were offered a million dollars but everybody is going to call me "Al Bundy" for the rest of my life, I wouldn't accept it. Imagine everywhere you go people calling you Al Bundy and quoting Married With Children references at you, everyday for the rest of your life.
>>
When is Dostoyevsky writing a sequel, I don't touch things that didn't warrant a sequel first.
>>
>>745396065
>Ed O'Neill has an estimated net worth of $45 million to $65 million. His multi-decade wealth comes primarily from his iconic television starring roles as Al Bundy on Married... with Children and Jay Pritchett on Modern Family, bolstered by lucrative syndication residuals and real estate holdings.
I honestly wouldnt have a problem with it, Al Bundy is a cool as fuck personality to be remembered by and Ed seems likes he is cool with it
>>
let me guess, he's sour because he didn't get his 'fair' share from the profits of GTA 5

You should read for the same reason you play Vidya; enjoyment. If you don't get any meaning from reading then don't read for recreation, it's that simple.

Simon in the walking dead is basically a more mean, less silly, version of trevor and he was killed by negan who was much more the focus of the show at the time and still largely is. Steve Ogg also was in westworld and his role again was some discount mean spirited lesser trevor. Dude has a number of acting credits to his name but besides his short VHS segment I can't really recall seeing many of them that were some fom of trevor lite. Maybe it sucks to be typecast but a job is a job and he seems okay at being various versions of trevor

Why do midwit always read one "notable" book and then keep talking about it for the rest of their lives?
I've never read a book that left a lasting impression on me, where as movies and games do it all of the time.
Maybe if he mentioned a literal-who writer's book instead of someone extremely known, then maybe I'd take him more seriously, but it's always
"I read books. You should read books. A book like *insert one of the most "intellectual approved writer or book ever"
It just comes off as so pretentious that I can't get over it.
Does this guy ever actually quote books he is reading, show off his bookshelf or even discuss anything book related online other than telling people he "prefers books"

Citing one of the most famous works of one of the most famous "highbrow" authors is a pretty apt analogy to someone citing GTA V, though. They're both extremely widely known but also very surface level for anyone interested in either medium.
>>
>>745406793
Yeah but the point is he acted a role in the game, people just want him to experience the game as if having an actor watch a movie they played in.
Him always rejecting it comes off as self-loathing or fan disrespecting.
>>
>>745395839
He always sounds like the type of person that loves to pretend that he reads but actually doesn't. I have played hundreds of games and read hundreds of books, i can safely say videogames are possibly the best medium that you can use to tell a story. The only problem is the fact that it's yet still a severely understimated and overlooked tool by fuckass boomers such as him unfortunately.
Also Crime and Punishment is the go to normie tier bullshit that people like to throw around to look like pseuds, it's very obvious he's a fraud.

Men love jargon.
It is so palpable, tangible, visible, audible; it makes so obvious what one has learned.

Jargon divides men into Us and Them.

answering these in reverse:
he is introductory to literature, which is vague and ill-defined but generally speaking is anything written which has something novel or interesting to say about the nature of living and the means by which we continue it
he is introductory because (unlike many of his contemporaries) his work manages to be (for the most part) entertaining, simplistic (i.e. plain in prose and not particularly allusive), and wildly compelling.

I think really he just doesn't care and he says it a lot but I mean come on! throw in a "I am sure you will love it though, my work on the last one was obviously beloved and I am sure you will love gta 6!" You know? something positive. As for his book selection, The Wealth of Nations is more relevant that what he said. Just quoting some fucking Russian guy I have might of heard of to be contrarian (perhaps he is being contrarian, i think he is just saying the same shit he says about not being a gamer) isn't going to cut it if he is trying to sound smart/genius. You mean the most entry-level book for the "I'm a REAL bibliophile" club?
It's a book about a complete fucking incel.
It's main character is literally just 1800's Russian Holden Caulfield.
The most interesting thing about it was finding out Russians were weirdly autistic about not putting addresses in books.

I always said that reading is not the classy hobby people make it out to be when they bring it up because people don't often think about how wide a net "reading" really is. When someone who doesn't read often pictures someone that does, they probably picture some fancy man in a robe reading in a private library or something, but the reality of reading is closer to a fat skank reading orc erotica than it is to the fancy man.

It depends. While the social aspect matters (no one would care about a book written by AI, even if it were "good"), there is certainly an objective standard.
For example, I doubt you'll find any author native to Senegal who has written works that addresses profound and interesting topics the way Dostoevsky did.
If your theory, that art depends almost exclusively on the mystique surrounding the works, rather than on the works themselves, applies to Dostoevsky, then it won't be hard to find at least one native African writer who is just as "good" as he is.

Gotten-to. And great works are quantified when some self-appointed critic dusts them off and makes them his pet project. Eventually he'll convince enough people to get the work 're-examined" and into the academic consciousness. The context of the work and the mystique of the author is what matters to these people, not the quality of prose or depth of wordplay.

Why do you expect people on the internet to have the desire to do a serious analysis? Moby Dick would fail in creative writing courses. Not because it's a bad book, but because commercial storytelling doesn't want friction, yet by removing friction you also strip away the work's depth. Take Book VI of The Karamazovs, it's 50 pages about Zosima's life, any modern editor would tell you to cut them, yet together with the preceding book, they are the heart of the novel. Literary masterpieces and consumable fiction are two different things

A great little short story. People like to talk about dead souls, its nice but one has to renember it ends abruptly as its unfinished.

The greatest for me is master and margerita, and usually if someone casually reccs that ge is a larper. You need like an annotated notebook with you to read this, its extremely deep as it was written in stalins time and every page you have to think deeply what the symbolism is about to escape the censors, the work that perfects the notion that hardcore censorship can also create the opposite end of free art.

I personally mix my free time with books, manga, movies/shows and games. I learned to not make a backlog and do everything one by one.

Reading is tye most essential, the remains of the day, the vegetarian, metamorphosis, dubliners, kokoro, days of abondonment/ferrantes tetralogy, the road, mishima... what a joy.

They mostly talk about making the goyim slaves and how its ok to abuse goyim because they're not human like jews and raping goyim children isn't actual rape because they're not human, and basically just repeat that over and over. You can do whatever you want to goyim because only jews are people.

imagine all the bad things jews ever said about nazis and nazi germany, add some child rape on top of that, and that's what jews teach themselves to be through their own religious texts and books (btw it's against jewish custom for goyim to read those books and they used to punish reading them with the death penalty if you read them while goy)

this is how jews behave so it's really not a surprise they got kicked out of so many countries, they're a sort of corrosive acid to any functioning civilization. Presumably the only civilization building capable jews died when the romans burned carthage and salted the earth. Funny that - ashkenazi genetics come from sicily (and prior to that from the middle east around syria) where the carthaginians weren't completely slaughtered. After sicily they moved into the rhineland (between france/germany) and then were pushed out of central europe into eastern europe. They did a lot of european mixing along the way, but you can still draw a genetic thread from them back to syria, iraq, and the southern caucuses. (at the same time and in the same areas that there's widespread child sacrifice rituals!)

I agree, but I still read paperback novels because it's just better than a phone (I don't want to waste the battery life anyway) and paperbacks have a visceral feel and smell to them that just kind of feels right. It's hard to put into words but it's nicer to have that paperback in your hands, with that paper smell, in the back of the bus while it's raining outside - contrasted with a kindle or whatever.

And the paperbacks are easier to hold, too. You can do that split finger thing on one hand to hold it easily, which you can't do with kindles and other ereaders, and you can hold phones fine but phones just aren't nice to read on, they're a pain really.

It's actually surprising that ereaders are still so unergonomic to hold, and also touch screens are total ass to deal with. If I accidentally touch the page of a real book it doesn't swap to the next page on me. Ereaders and phones do that constantly, you have to be so careful with the fucking touchscreen or find a toggle to disable the screen and most ereaders exclude buttons which is even more aggravating.

In the end, I mostly carry and read from my kindle because it has all my books on it and then some, but I have no issues with reading paperbacks any time or place. I used to do that before ereaders and phones with books on them were a thing and it's nice to have something that doesn't require batteries and you can just whip it out whenever you're a bit bored or have to wait or something.

Remember Resident Evil? The original? That live action sequence? A youtube channel found all those actors and they do the con scene all the time now, even the old VA's do the con scene, same with old power rangers actors.

What I've learned from life is that people can build up anything to be a masterpiece and tear down any masterpiece into being mundane.

HOWEVER, though many many many retards / subhumans allow themselves to be collared like dogs to socially approved opinions (hello leftists), that doesn't mean the work itself becomes gooder or badder. You'll often find literary works where the writing was universally panned by critics at the time it was written and then 300 years later everyone fucking loves it - and that's because actual merit always shines through eventually, no matter the social mores and dysfunctional beliefs of the period.

Really, I do have to admit that the way you can manipulate people into believing things by making them appear popular via friend effects or mass media advertising, or news propaganda campaigns is a pretty bad reflection on the mental capacity of the average (White!) person.

I can relate to the whole "OMG YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE" fatigue, that shit is annoying. I get it more from cinephiles than gamers for whatever reason. But whatever, people are fragile and thin-skinned, so if you give them a taste of their own medicine but with literary fiction instead of popcorn flicks, they invariably get touchy and prickly afterward.

Having said that, I'm not the biggest Dostoevsky fan and wouldn't care much for talking about Crime and Punishment. Running into a Faulkner or a Virginia Woolf fan in the wild would get me pretty hype, though.

I'm pretty sure Anthony Burgess (guy who wrote Clockwork Orange) says Bely's Petersburg is his favorite Russian novel because it unknowingly depicts the final breath of Russian intellectual and artistic life before the 1917 revolution. I wish I could find that interview again. Anyway you're right, everyone from France to England to Bulgaria to Italy was getting brutally mogged by the Russians up until WW1 roughly.

This A-hole has never read dosozesty. He's massively insecure cos sweaty unwashed losers love the game and he thinks he's a loser cos he voiced Trevor when he should be a real actor, so he pulls out the 'ol zesty to appear all high brow and cultured.

If he was really so smart he'd talk about something else that would blow our minds rather than the book of choice for all angsty teens who think they're deep and better than everyone.

C&P is shite anyway.

Hear hear. Or here hwre, whatever it is. I used to read when I was young cos I thought it made me smart but I realised I hated it and it was all useless knowledge.

I read a couple books recently but everything's the same. No one writes anything particularly novel. If something isn't fun, don't do it. Knowing this is the true mark of intelligence.

I don't think every book is art, but there's way more artistry in good fiction (and even good non-fiction too) than vidya, especially these days
>>
>>745434949
Thanks but I don't need some jew to tell me what I think is art or not.

I know what is art and what is not art, and I don't give a damn if you agree with a jew over me, it's not ever going to change my opinion on it.

Just look at how many different euphemisms your type has had to come up with for niggers - under all the jewish word games you play, the real meaning of "youths", "socioeconomic problems", "basketball players", "scholars", etc. bubbles to the surface over time regardless. You think you can play word games with definitions, but Plato's Forms are real. There is always a thing, a concept, a form, beneath the word and you cannot change it. Today you say "African American, not Nigger", tomorrow you say "Videogames aren't Art"; all you are doing is playing word games to reshape reality to your delusions.

And all you actually accomplish is wrapping blindfolds over your own eyes and the eyes of anyone stupid enough to listen to you. It will never actually change videogames, just like you will never actually change nigger behaviour. Shifting a definition or a name or title will not ever change the underlying form it describes (or used to describe).

Big fucking snore, I dropped that shit a third of the way through I don't fucking care about a Russian engaging in the inner monologue version of screeching CYKA BLYAT at everyone in CS;Go

It also bothers the fuck out of me when someone tries to big-dog people. It's just smug cuntery, and it proves that he doesn't give a shit about literature beyond how he can use it as a social stepping stone.
He doesn't explain why Crime and Punishment is a good book, which for him it could be while I have Russian Incel Fatigue, he doesn't talk about the plot or how much he enjoyed it.
He just goes UHM ACKSHUALLY I ONLY ENGAGE IN INTELLECTUAL PURSUITS

It also bothers the fuck out of me when an actor shits on the people and reason he got paid and got famous.
I don't want a prostitute with cum on his chin telling me how much he prefers eating arse to sucking cock. Nigger, you still got paid to suck cock and you sucked that cock hard and deep.
You don't get to act superior when you've still got cock breath and cumburps.

Most people who create something don't engage with their own creation. They can see everything they did wrong in some cases, and in others it's the act of creating it that mattered to them and simply consuming it doesn't have the same feeling.

Where did I use it as an argument?
I used it as a justification of why I hate it.
I said he's allowed to like it because he could be coming at it from an entirely different place to me.

My argument was the place that he's coming from is Name-Dropping Smuggery rather than a love of reading.
As someone who enjoys reading, I think he's a cunt and a poseur.

If he had've even briefly, just fucking briefly, touched on why it's a good book that you should read I'd appreciate his interest in the book. But he doesn't. He just did it to look intellectual.
That's my argument you stupid fuck. Books are for reading, not fucking showboating.

I don't mind finishing meh books if they're sub-500 pages but I am definitely not afraid to drop a big book if it doesn't seem good. It's a tricky balancing act. So what faggot, sometimes reading is just about having fun.
The bit relating to the house was great, it's just the shit with Johnny that dragged and thankfully when it was getting really goddamn arduous reading about him simping for a stripper that's when he started to go batshit insane.

The only really mediocre part was having one of the guys exploring the house being set up with the whole OOH HE'S A NEWLYWED HE'S GOT HIS BRAND NEW WIFE HE'S GOT HIS WHOLE LIFE AHEAD OF HIM and expecting us to be shocked when he's the one who gets his brains blown out.

all I've been able to glean about women is that they're basically natural sociopaths and manipulators, nothing they say is genuine, and controlling them requires being above social norms/justice (criminal/mob boss/king), or having the power to bend social norms to your whim (suave manipulators that can turn any lie into a truth or vice versa with extensive loyal friend/community networks to isolate aggravating women)

and it's basically either you can kill/destroy her on a whim and or you can't so she has nothing but contempt for you

I have never known or seen women who behave contrary to this
