You know how sega had an in house mascot contest to get sonic? I’m wondering if /v/ has ever done one of those for fun. This place does seem to like contests and mascot designs.

They were trying to figure how to make something stand out in 8bit and just started adding shit like overalls, mustache, tunic, elf ears to make them distinguishable. Nobody at Nintendo said "ok...what do the kids like these days?" when designing each character for all their respected game concepts. None of the companies trying to copy them could ever figure this out.

Design a vidya character? I made one for an RPG or book I wanna make one day. Her name is Nous and she's a wizard's apprentice who accidentally gets separated from her master during an archaelogical visit to a suspended series of towers and has to fight her way across multiple realities being housed within the towers to reunite with her maater. She gets easily swept up in the nearest bullshit that's happening around her and is often too meek to speak up for herself, so she often ends up as a side character in all the wacky adventures she ends up in.At the end, she becomes a reality-manipulating magical girl, saves the towers by launching them back into space, puts to rest the primordial fleshsea at the heart of the world that was threatening to destroy her world, and she gets a headpat from her master for completing the Good Job (what Nous calls the Magnum Opus)!
