I kind of realized what is my dream game. It is basically taking battletech / mechwarrior and turning it into space sim. Completely and shamelessly. Space ships with tonnage classes. Heat as a limiting factor. Modular weapon options for chassis. Even weapons can be a literal copy paste.Add to that privateer start where you just have a shitty light fighter at the start of the game and you build up to a "lance" of 4 fighters and maybe buy a carrier to have more options for missions.
