I don't like the power of friendship. I don't like teenagers with colorful hair and big swords who had their village burned down meeting up to take down an evil group in the Shadow Realm where the final boss is killing God. I don't want a dating simulator mini-game. My problem isn't the fact that games are turn-based, it's that JRPGs turn into a trope-ridden soup of mediocrity most of the time. What is so hard to understand? The lack of appeal for these people is the world and characters, not the fact the games are turn-based. Paper Mario is the exception to so many for a reason.
>>
I'm the exact opposite. My problem is that it is turn-based and that's slow and boring as fuck.

The two best JRPGs of the last 20 years are Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Expedition 33.
>>
>>745629035
Paper Mario literally beats Bowser with the power of friendship.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon combat was terrible.
>>
>>745629035
JRPG's aren't role playing games. Neither are games like The Witcher and Kingdom Come Deliverance.
>>
Suikoden doesn't fall into those tropes.

Also what are some Chrono Trigger sized JRPGs that are good?

Unless you're a YouTuber, that image isn't referring to you, tard.
>>
>>745629560
Hence why I said the sequel, Infinite Wealth. Shame about the power of friendship plot but everything else was kept to a minimum
>>
>>745629387
No they aren't, you just haven't played anything else.
Emerald Beyond is far superior to both, especially in combat
>>
>>745629035
That's moot

I hate adult Andy. all I can think about is him being a teenager and cumming on Jesse whenever I see him

>>745629035
Literally every story and genre ever made is full of tropes, they're the building blocks of stories.

You're in luck, 90% of JRPGs don't have these things, only the popular ones do.
>>
>>745629035
The "power of friendship" is literally just a lynching from the killers POVs.
>>
>>745629035
>it's that JRPGs turn into a trope-ridden soup of mediocrity most of the time
Have you considered digging even slightly deeper than googling "JRPG"
>>
I'm convinced zoomers don't actually play games they just watch youtubers talk about them in video essay form

Then look into the ones that don't have the qualities you don't care for. They exist.
>>
>>745629035
It's ok to admit that you base your media preferences according to what you think women would find "yucky". It's incredibly obvious so I thought I would point that out. This will not get you laid anyway btw
>>
>>745629570
There is not a single computer game which can accurately be called an RPG if you are strictly defining it by its ability to allow for roleplaying

Try telling that to a TVtropes fag

More games should have the power of friendship. It's really not that common.

I don't usually mind power of friendship but that meme genuinely ruined this game.
>"muh 100 endings"
>beat the 30 hours prologue, vaguely interested in the game
>get first real ending
>"...and then they used the power of friendship to beat kinda-god :)"
>well, at least the generic one is out of the way
>clear a few bad ends and get the second main ending
>"...and then they used the power of friendship..."
>well this is all still close to that ending so maybe it changes
>it doesn't
>nearly every single non-bad ending is some variant on power of friendship
>the few that aren't are one note joke ends at best
How do you make a 200 hour long game with 100 endings wherein all of the endings are basically the same.

I agree. Infact i want more, other than rpgs and visual novels there isn't any romance in 99% of games, OP is a bitch for complaining about that. Romance bros, we can't have shit in this day and age
>>
>>745630512
That's the ending to anything Kodaka is involved with. He doesn't know how to do anything else.
>>
>>745629035
I kinda agree, its rare to see anything fresh anymore
>>
>>745630320
More common in anime than games
>>
>>745630623
I would've hoped that he'd have some creativity given the supposed scope of the game, but I should've expected as much when every character was transparently taken from past Danganronpa games with minimal changes in design and personality.
I am shocked that nobody involved told him how generic and uninteresting this game actually was. Less shocking is that the only fans it seems to have are the now nearing middle aged Kodaka fangirls from yesteryear.

Infinite Wealth has nearly all the same problems as LAD.

People who hate the power of friendship don't have friends IRL.

I think the tropes can either be shit and boring or done well. Shit like Growlanser 1 and 4 are kinda generic but it's the way the story in those about it that makes it fun and interesting, constantly spicing things up and keeping it interesting. I also wish there was more stuff like the old fire emblem games, some actual warfare.

There aren’t enough power of friendship games these days

>every character was transparently taken from past Danganronpa games with minimal changes in design and personality.
Yeah it's just
>Takumi = Hajime
>Eito = Nagito
>Nozomi = Chiaki
With some changes I guess.
Rest of the cast are worse though.
>Biker guy = Mondo
>Darumi = Junko
>Glasses girl = Maki
>Gaku = Hiro
>Brown girl = Aoi
>twins = Kiyo
>Sword girl = Peko
>Tomato girl = Byakuya
>Assassin guy = Kiyo again
>Wrestler girl = Akane
So fucking dull and played out, no wonder his next game is just a fucking Danganronpa remake.

No, it really doesn't.
>DoT effects are now somewhat worth it instead of having a turn debt of 8-ish turns before they even do more damage than having done a single attack.
>Status effects are actually worth using on Normal difficulty unlike 7 where they were only worth a damn on Legend.
>Diminishing returns on EXP is much harsher so it's harder to overlevel anything even if you do side content. It's also tailored to every single chapter instead of just increasing at chapters 6 and 11.
You actively have to break the balance by going to the Hawaiian Haunt and intentionally Money Suckering minibosses so you can spam Poundmates to even survive past the first 10 floors.
>You can't easily obtain higher-tier gear from minigames, instead you can only get the second-best weapons and crafting the best requires gear from the bottom of the Hawaiian Haunt and Yokohama Underground to even craft which, again, is only legitimately going to happen towards endgame.
>Skills are significantly better balanced and you don't have a Paralysis Prongs or Head Tracking situation nearly as bad as in 7.
Yes, Burning Arrow and Rose Throw are things that exist, but they're few and far between and much rarer in general to have appear.
>Full team Essences are for Kiryu and Ichiban only and only once you hit level 30 in DoD for the former and do all of Dondoko Island for the latter. Everything any normal job can get only hits enemies within a specific range or just one single enemy.
>MP amounts are not only lower, but unless you figure out Wizard Hats are the best headgear from the Hawaiian Haunt mixed with War God Talismans you can't even really spam skills let alone Essences because money is tight until the latter portions of the Hawaiian Haunt and still only if you know of Money Sucker on minibosses.
>Job level ups buff the job itself instead of locking huge stat buffs behind it so you actually can experiment with other jobs instead of losing huge chunks of damage output by swapping.
