What a great concept that basically no other games have ever really managed to work out how to offer. It's kind of a staple of Nintendo to give you an adventure-long companion: other examples off the top of my head include Olivia in TOK, Midna in TP and arguably Kazooie in Banjo-Kazooie and 'Tooie (she's mean to most people but nice to Banjo, at least).

Midna and Kazooie didn't have that kind of sheer volume of rapport and banter. TTYD is in many ways a 'hang out with Goombella simulator' over and above everything else the game is.
