What if Nintendo hasn't shown any gameplay of this OoT because it's just a 1:1 upscale of the N64/3DS versions, and they're trying to sell it on the name hype alone?
It'd be sad that the past decade of new 3D Zelda games was just Breath of the Wild. TotK was a mistake.
>>
They're going to have to show at least some gameplay before the launch, and if it really is just another texture remake I think very few people are going to be interested. From what I've seen the general attitude is that if it's not a ground-up reimagining there's really no point. Which of course, is still likely to be shit in its own way, but we already have the original, the 3DS version, and the Ship of Harkinian having HD texture mods as it is. There's basically no point in buying this unless it's genuinely something new using OOT as a skeleton.
>>
it might release in December as a last minute Christmas gift, it's going up against gta 6

>What if Nintendo hasn't shown any gameplay of this OoT because it's just a 1:1 upscale of the N64/3DS versions, and they're trying to sell it on the name hype alone?
I thought that was the idea.
>>
Skyward Sword, BotW and TotK all had development cycles of 5-6 years. If it was a full re-imagining with radically different gameplay, it would not be releasing this year. It's probably another Tantalus remake while the main Zelda team work on a brand new game.
>>
Nintendo is hiding everything to build hype. That is always how it works for their big games. We knew nothing about Breath of the Wild except what was within the Great Plateau until the game came out. They'll blow their load sometime in late September or October before GTA6 comes out.
>>
>>745818456
>game is out in three months
>no direct
>no trailer
>no official page

bro it's 100% just gonna be 1:1 game with new graphics, farmed out to some westoid studio like Star Fox. It's over
>>
Isn't it safe to assume it's getting the same treatment as the Starfox 64 port?
>>
>>745821442
We had gameplay this close to release, anon.
That's how we knew about the axed WII U gamepad features.
>>
>>745823345
the difference being that SF64 is still a good rail shooter. action-adventures and Zelda in particular have moved past '98 design and geography, it's gonna feel incongruous like MGS Delta

>don't want it to just be a 1:1 remake of the N64/3DS version
>don't want it to be some massively reimagined bastardization either
>but developers and fans both only comprehend things in extremes so these two are the only likely options
>>
>>745825226
I replayed the game ~2 weeks ago and it's still fantastic
doing the same thing but shinier is worthless to me yeah
>>
>>745825334
that's the dilemma of this remake isn't it, 1:1 sucks, full reimagination kinda sucks too, it all seems ill-conceived
>>
>>745818456
It is obviously just another Star Fox abomination.
>>
>>745825592
An anon in a thread yesterday found a good way for me to sum up what I'd want from an OoT remake - basically the SM64DS treatment in terms of adding more content and slightly mixing up original content without undoing the spirit of it.
>>
>>745826205
I think I'd ideally prefer a ground-up reimagining of the game, but since this is most likely not the case, yeah, give me a SM64DS situation with visuals akin to that GC tech demo from back in the day
>>
The thing I love the most about the OOT remake is that Nintendo literally can't do anything without making people complain. If they make it too much like the original, people complain, if they change too much, people complain, Nintendo literally cannot win this one. Double binds make me so horny, you know. Stabbing someone with Morton's fork is extremely satisfying.
>>
>>745825226
I played the 3DS version already.
>>
>>745818456
>it's just a 1:1 upscale
If you're expecting anything other than this you're extremely retarded.
>>
>>745825334
Why not have it be different? Resident Evil had a good balance. The same puzzles won't hit the same when 3D target locking isn't as revolutionary.
>>
>>745826314
>with visuals akin to that GC tech demo from back in the day
the thing is, even the tiny snippet we got suggests that they moved away from that look / OoT original concept art toward """realism""". That's why I think they farmed it out to a western studio like Star Fox. It sucks man
>>
>>745823471
>action-adventures and Zelda in particular have moved past '98 design and geography
YAnd we finally have a chance to correct that mistake.
>>
>>745818456
The real reason is they want to get Fire Emblem out before showing more of zelda. Thats how Nintendo works with their first party games.
>>
>>745818456
They'll need to change Hyrule Field at the very least. No way they they'll just keep an empty field where you have to roll to the other side.
>>
>$80 remake

>star fox remake abomination graphics

>modern zelda BOTW ui

>quest menu for checklist checking subhumans

>atrocious union tier voice acting

>areas are still segmented like mgs 4 delta

>content is 85% the same, 15% is cut because it doesn't fit modern graphics and UE5 look

>any insensitive, sexualization and "outdated" jokes are removed or changed entirely

>music is remixed and rerecorded to sound generic and more inline with botw

you know this is what's going to happen lmao, there's no way they're releasing a remake of ott this year without being like this, if it's coming out in 2 years i can see it being a high effort remake, but this year? nah lmao
>>
It's going to be a 3ds upscaling with some cheap korok seeds around.
>>
>>745826630
If they're gonna remake a good game then it needs to be on point. Save the heavy creativity for a new game or a remake of a game widely agreed to be deeply flawed.
>>
>>745818456
If it's not the main zelda dev team handling it, then it's cooked beyond belief, anyone know, also the engine looks like UE5
>>
>>745826912
>quest menu for checklist checking subhumans
this will happen but who the fuck cares
>awful voice acting
will happen and will be awful if they don't have a toggle for old va/have MS handle voice acting
>>music is remixed and rerecorded to sound generic and more inline with botw
won't happen, nintendo remakes usually make tracks more dramatic if anything, and the ost in the trailer already sounds more haunting
>>
Wonder if they'll fix the dogshit camera and Z-targetting.
>>
>>745826654
By making sure it doesn't move past '17 open world design instead, I presume?
>>
>>745827056
Why does it have to be on point? For the "ah, they got it right... (le nostalgia gasm)". If they're doing a remake, I want something new, not the same block pushing puzzles but in stunning 4K. Capcom had the sense for that.
>>
>>745818456

>>
>>745827193
>oops! it was contempt for the original all along!
>>
>>745827193
And I'm not sayinf you should bastardize like SOME remakes do. You can keep the great hits the same and keep the spirit of the og while reimagining(ie keeping that excellent balance of linearity and open adventure).
>>
>>745827346
That's the thing, I've seen fanboys scream online that IT'S MADE FOR A NEW GENERATION THAT DOESN'T KNOW THE GAME when the criticism of doing it 1:1 is brought up, but
like even if you only know BotW (SS,WW,OoT are all available on Switch), dungeons and puzzles from 1998 are not gonna wow you man, who would that be for except nostalgiaplebs
>>
>>745827330
It's not contempt. It's using new technology to do some things that were intended back then that they couldn't do until now. It's always the far end of the stick with you people.

Man, I don't remember having to SPECIFICALLY push blocks. I just used the magnet rune to move blocks. In a game that didn't have all that many blocks to begin with. Compared to OOT.
Also the practice is not lost on me when you faggots keep on going about BOTW/TOTK as a "but what about" goal post, when there are dozens of other Zelda's that share more comparable points in design. I know they're the most recent, but come the fuck on, broaden your mind.

That is the fear, yes, but it isn't the only exclamation.

It could be the case, but it could also be that the gameplay/design is completely different, and given the autism of OOT purists is therefore just as controversial particularly if they did something bold to change it.

Either way, Zelda fans are autists and will ree at whatever they do, and in the age of youtubers literally hating everything to market on that they're probably just best keeping it quiet for as long as possible.
>>
If it's a 1:1 remake then showing nothing but a teaser with redesigned characters and environments a brand new way of framing the story was retarded. Everything about the trailer implied that it's a complete reimagining.

Only part I legitimately got stuck in OoT were the climbing vines at the beginning of the forest temple, which is purely a visibility issue rather than an intentional puzzle. Game is otherwise just plain braindead which is why it's popular to begin with, normalfaggots hate thinking.
>>
>>745834651
Nintendo themselves said that the game was too hard and they needed to dumb down the series going forward and thats how we got WW and TP. MM was the last "hard" zelda which was done before they could apply their new game philosophy of no gamer left behind.

In fact you could probably find some double digit IQ mutt streamer on twitch streaming OoT right now and watch him struggle with the puzzles designed for Japanese and european children,

What about them? Dungeons are literal numbered sequences telling you where to go in a specific order and all dialogue is tutorializing The manuals provide detailed walkthroughs of the first thirds of the games too. Zelda 2 is the most unusual and hardest one and unsurprisingly also the one tendies hate the most because it didn't follow the same exact braindead formula.

It would be kinda cool if it was the same/similar at first glance but with more shit to find. Maybe they'll put new shit in obscure spots like behind the Deku Tree, or fringe corners of Hyrule Field, or something. The story is the same but areas are remixed in subtle ways that freshens them up a bit.
I always thought the way the game handled secrets was really unique compared to every 3D Zelda that came after it, stuff like the grottos and gossip stones (which dispense lore and almost something reminiscent of dev comments, of all things) often don't really feel "designed" in a conventional sense. It'd be cool if the new game were to try and recapture those types of secrets in some way.
>>
>>745835841
If you ignore all the dogshit UI and markers OoT has some cool visual atmosphere sometimes, production value is really what it excels at but you'll never see fanboys correctly identifying what they really like about it and instead lie about the game being complex or difficult.

MM has the best vibes and atmosphere in the series and yet OoTfags will still claim it's the better game (because they played it when they were 8).

Leaker here
It's mostly a 1:1 remake with updated graphics
The only real change is to the Forest Temple music

hyrule castle was a massive disappointment.
after all the wanking off I saw about it online I could just blow past it in two minutes with revali's gayle.
zero original content in it either. just the same handful of enemies rehashed.

and then the finale: an absolutely abysmal ganon fight.

Nope. It's the best dungeon the series has ever seen.

>And all the combat/puzzles are still dogshit.

The shittiest part of growing up and liking Zelda is realizing that you have a preference for 1 or 2 3D titles you liked as a kid, plus maybe 1 or 2 more for mechanics/themes. 16-bit handheld/console games are the only consistently strong titles, with the exception of Echoes of Wisdom, which sounds awful.

Ocarina, I remember playing it when I was 16 and almost beating it before all my 3DS games got stolen. Trying to play it now, and it's such a slog. That forest temple was so fucking boring.

Are we getting new voice actors, are the old ones returning, or are they recycling the old voice clips like in the 3DS remake?

Growing up is realizing that the open air design is the future because it leads to more novel mechanics above all else, which is generally what people like about Zelda if we're being honest. That next new entry is going to be cool if we're placing portals that seamlessly link two overworlds, ect.
