When did Nintendo become so anti consumer?
>>

they got extremely pissed that Zelda TOTK runs far better on a PC than a Switch, so why bother buying a Switch?

PURE GREED

I don't think removing emulators of consoles you're currently releasing games for is anti-consumer.
After it's no longer sold? Yeah, go for it.

Listen up.
We can't emulate Switch 2 games.

However, I have come to the conclusion that Wii games can be emulated on PC, as long as you have a USB sensor bar, and you make a Mii with a Mii Maker .wad.

That's fine. I don't want to be associated with people who use trainers to beat games.

A well-informed Anon on the subject once explained that, under U.S. law, it's not illegal to break an anti-piracy or DRM encryption system, if it's so you can run your own product on a device that wasn't originally designed for it.
So, theoretically, even sharing the keys can be considered legal, under certain circumstances.
But it doesn't make a difference, because even if people don't share them, Nintendo takes down the emulators, just as they did with Yuzu and Ryujinx, which were both 100% legal but didn't stand a chance against Nintendo.
And yes, you can charge money for an emulator because it's not illegal to charge for software you wrote yourself, which is used to perform perfectly legal operations, such as running software developed for one platform on another.

Completely, but the law has this really cool feature where you can just say whatever you want in relation to a C&D and the other party will be forced to comply or take you to court. If you have more money than them, you automatically win. If the other party is just an individual, you won't even have to do anything because they can't justify taking it to court since there's a 100% chance of them losing money and gaining nothing.
I think it's a very epic part of the judicial system, more people should be using it.

>anti-consumer
Third worlders who don't even buy games aren't consumers, they're parasites
This is why the switch 2 "boycott" failed, whether you love or hate a game/console it doesn't matter because you never bought anything in the first place so they didn't lose a customer
>>
>>745830480
Emulators by themselves aren't illegal unless they're shipped with game roms, or the console bios/firmware data that's necessary to make them run games. Usually the authors tells you to go look for that data elsewhere, or to extract one from your legally owned console
>>
>>745842307
Do you even know what that quote means? 'Piracy is a service problem' puts the blame of piracy on producers, not customers. He was saying that if you make a really good service then people will buy it; your service needs to be more convenient and higher quality than piracy. It doesn't apply as much to consoles since that's also a hardware investment.
>>
This is the point where MS of all people needs to stand up and claim these are not legitimate takedown requests because they are not illegal.

Eden is clearly the most supported out there for a long time now. It gets frequent updates and the creators doesn't seem to be afraid of the Nintendo ninjas. The only real weakness it has is visual novels. For some reason VNs tend to not load or crash after a few minutes on it. I'm keeping Ryubing around just for that but it didn't get updates for ages so newer VNs may not be playable. It could play Slay the Princess from the newer games but not Stories from Sol.

No? Without the keys it's completely non-functional until modified. It'd be like selling a completely legal gun without a firing pin.
>>
>>745844423
Distributing roms is considered illegal entirely because of copyright violations in the US and Canada. Maybe you should actually look up the law before assuming it is illegal.
>>
>>745844423
There's nothing that anon has said that is incorrect. Everything from the Bleem case to the DVD DeCSS case are precedent.
>Charge money for emulators
Almost nobody has done this, at least none of the major projects. I mean, you CAN do it if it was created by clean room reverse engineering, but its still not usually how things work. Even the big spergout about Yuzu wasn't that they charged for the emulator which they didn't - if you wanted to compile it yourself you could do so for free if you wanted the EA pull requests, or wait for them to compile a standard release update. People could donate and get pre-compiled EA binaries faster, but that's why when PineEApple started compiling them themselves Yuzu didn't get all pissy and try to make them stop, it was legal for both of them to do what they did entirely.
>SO Y YUZU GIVE UP WHEN NINTENDO SUEZU
Mainly because they knew that a loss because of boomer technological stupidity would let Nintendo's wackjob concept of 'all emulation is illegal, playing any game on any device that isn't blessed by Nintendo is illegal" could gain strength, and they also got caught on Discord talking about swapping ROMs to test during development which is small scale copyright infringement and basically this is the
>Hey your tail light is out, so I'll use that to write you a ticket, but also when I got close to your car I say I smelled drugs, and the K9 shat himself and now I have a warrant to rape your entire house on a fishing expedition to find anything illegal, which I found when the locks to your gun safe werent' child safe despite no children in the house , now you're going to jail as an example etc.
>>
>>745844938
and what will you do with the emulator? you'll download it with the explicit intention of adding the prod.keys to pirate games
same reason why you can't just sell certain gun parts even if they're "completely non-functional until modified", otherwise anyone without a gun permit could just buy all the parts and build a functional gun
again, your poor logic here is done in bad faith and it's blatantly obvious

most of modfags are huge nintendorks so the demographic shift is noticeable the last few years, you often see non-nintendo games being shitposted to death, which is no coincidence because they co-ordinate raids from discord, all of it allowed with very few exceptions, notice how you don't get banned for saying bad things about snoy or microcuck or steam ( despite rothshilds hiring a massive anti-shill campaign recently )
>>
>>745847627
That would only be true if Nintendo was a force for good. A force for good would not be shutting down perfectly legal emulation
>>
>>745842408
>it's not illegal to break an anti-piracy or DRM encryption system
It actually is which is what the entire yuzu case was predicated on and the devs being documented pirates further strengthened nintendo's position that they weren't doing it for game preservation or something more defensible in court which is why they settled immediately.

Ryujinx was never sued because the dev was much less of a blatant pirate, didn't violate dmca since the decryption shit was decoupled from the emulator, and also wasn't even based in the USA. Nintendo instead just made some offer to him to shut down voluntarily which he accepted.

>digital piracy is evil
Half the population is going to hell then.

Nintendo has every right to shut down Switch 1 emulation and piracy because they are still selling and supporting the Switch 1.
>>
>>745847705
Steam is the second most heavily shilled platform here after Nintendo. And it's not even a platform, just a store with a very very loyal fanbase
>>
>>745848013
No, Nintendo's detractors are evil.
>>
>>745848017
No they don't, emulation is legal. Bleem was sued by Sony like 20 years ago, Sony lost and since then everyone knows emulation is legal
>>
>>745847573
Except for mods, romhacks, recomps, native ports, fangames, and everything else that you exclude because you're a disingenuous sealion. ;)

>b-but I can jailbreak older nintendo consoles
How's that going for the Switch 2?
>>
>>745848017
By that logic, you support them shutting down emulation of all nintendo consoles, due to the games on NSO and rereleases.

Maybe you shouldn't lie and shitpost, if you don't want people calling you out.

>>>NOOOOOO WHY DOESN'T NINTENDO LET US PIRATE THEIR SHIT??
This can't be anti-consumer because only poor browns care about emulation, not consumers.

I didn't lie or shitpost or tell anyone to not call me out but thanks for the useless advice.

Help please. I am new to handheld emulators. Where do I get mods? like 60fps for switch games.

If there are games that can't be played on nintendo consoles, and if there are nintendo games that can't be played on current nintendo consoles, then that kinda proves them wrong. You even admit that you have to violate the EULA of the Switch and jailbreak it, just to even come close. And that's a luxury that comes with the risk of Nintendo either banning your console, or you bricking the console. As opposed to the feature just being native, ala PC.

But didn't you say exclusives are "anti consumer shit for trannies"? Why are you suddenly worshiping PC exclusives?

You're retarded. It's the sharing of the keys that is the primary problem. Have a look at every fucking lawsuit involving piracy. You can steal all the digital content you want. Sharing it is what get's you in trouble (if they can prove it).
>>
anyone who cares already has the emulators downloaded. hell i have Yuzu, Suyu, Ryujinx, and Eden
>>
>>745848258
No.
I only support them shutting down emulation for consoles they currently sell, the Switch 1 and the Switch 2.
Emulators for previous consoles offer more features than the NSO emulators.
That said, I am playing Fire Emblem on the GBA NSO, only because I don't feel like firing up my Legion Go to play it for the time being.

Isn't this unlawful? Emulation is not illegal. Making backups of games you own to play on an emulator is not illegal.

I'm doing just fine. You?

I haven't even felt like I wanted a switch emulator, most games I wanted to play on switch but on pc were already on pc. Theres like 2 NIS games stuck on switch and kingdom hearts melody of memory
