Because most people are told "the manga is better"
So they think the manga is always better.

FMA has a godlike start but the woman writing it is actually not good at storytelling and she fumbled it hard. For her FMA was a fluke. You can't tell by the interviews and how she sees her own characters and stories. She is very shallow and has no idea what she is doing.

The 2003 anime is a much better story and uses the established characters and world much better. But people will never look past the fact that "it's not like the manga"

The manga/brotherhood is shit. It abandons everything that the beginning establishes, turns it into generic shounen shit and all the retards eat it up.

but the good thing about 2003 FMA is that it has the hardest normie repel, so it's gatekept for the rest of eternity, and retards can't ruin it. Only people with actual free will, and humanity can appreciate it for what it is.
>>
the games are honestly fine
yeah they're linear and the alchemy is very simple, but they found a fun angle with environment interactions
>>
>>745843373
Arakawa is good at telling stand alone short stories. It's why FMA beginning was so good. The second she does any sort of plotting she shits the bed.

Arakawa has admitted in interviews that she improved on the world building after the FMA 03 staff asked questions about the FMA world.

>but the good thing about 2003 FMA is that it has the hardest normie repel, so it's gatekept for the rest of eternity,

Fma 03 was one of the most popular animes when it aired. Manga purist and Brotherhood anime fandom overtook the fanbase and shat on 03. It's less 03 is normie repellent and more so Brotherhood fans try to gatekeep.
>>
I love 03 and brotherhood for different reasons but the way 03 explained Homonculi was so fucking cool. I really prefer that. Pottery in action.

Japanese women are much better than western women I think but I still can't seem to get into manga made by women. I like a story that takes itself seriously and it feels like they are incapable of that.

>>745843373
Trigun anime is also better than the manga, don't let mangafags tell you otherwise
>>
>>745850012
Back in the day I feel like they used to treat adaptations of manga as actual adaptations meant to be a separate work that is designed from the ground up to take advantage of the different medium. Then at some point it switched to being turbo faithful (but only a small section of the story, so in effect an ad for the manga itself).
>>
>>745841532
Fma 03 is one of the best anime ever made, brotherhood had none of the soul and passion behind it that 03 did. The manga is a great read though.
>>
>>745850173
Pretty sure both just outpaced the manga. Trigun is pretty faithful minus a couple early filler episodes right up until like after he fights the first gung ho gun guy

This is what happens when you decide to be "faithful to muh manga." Most manga are chock full of blank white background panels just because of how the medium works. Because it makes enough money in Japan that the costs to localize are negligible.
Obviously it's not super successful since the MMO didn't get localized and Square Enix just stopped releasing the games for a full five years until Horii forced them to start releasing them again.
>And again; not having threads here, a tiny corner of the massive web, doesn't make it a flop.

That proves DQ isn't popular then.
It went on multiple hiatuses and the only thing that changed was that Horii got more involved and pushed for more western releases.
And the "multiple releases" are largely things that SE barely talks about outside Japan and doesn't really advertise. Like, the last two "major" DQ titles got shown off a grand total of ONE TIME EACH before release outside Japan. They literally didn't want to pay for the Nintendo Direct ad space for 1&2 outside Japan.

A simple google search can give you the timeline release of DQ games along the way. Your hiatus cope has little weight when the series has seen consistent entries along the systems and years despite inner issues leading to low or extended time for a new main entry.

>They skipped every spin-off and even a mainline title on 3DS.

Yeah the series died after Dragon Warrior IV and four games shit the bed in a row, then it died again after they tried to revive Dragon Warrior on PSX and GBC, it lived BRIEFLY from 2005~2010, and then died again from 2011~2016, and since then Horii has been pushing for western releases because that was his entire goal way way back in 2005 with the merger.
>They released a remake of it.
DQXI on PS4 isn't a remake. It and the 3DS version released at the same time.

It's also funny seeing some comparisons between Brotherhood and the manga and seeing that some stuff Brotherhood cut out was actually covered by '03, like the train scene and the masked attacker during Ed and Al's training, and even maintains some of the changes that '03 made like not having Rose hiding inside Al while confronting Cornello. It's legitimately a shame that Brotherhood isn't the definitive absolutely faithful adaptation it gets touted as, and that '03 isn't perfect in the execution of its own original ideas. They both could have done much more than what they did.
Oh, Conqueror of Shamballa. It's too bad you came out during a time when 4-hour anime movies were considered inappropriate.

if you think the manga's ending is a happy ending its not, its bitter-sweet and a hint of nostalgia, not a "happy-go-lucky" ending: they lost family to them, they have to live with consequences that were caused by their stupidity in the first place and they go into self-forced exile to compensate for it. maybe you retards can't read between the lines into why that's a huge motif in it the theme of the manga is dark and emotional gloom throughout that does not translate to the anime at all because they dumbed it down to a bunch of shounen tropes rather than socio-political commentary that mirrors the second world war and church/science argumentations.
>>
>>745841532
2003 is only good up until Lab 5. The whole deal with Lust being their mothers revived corpse is fucking dumb, and so is alchemy being derived from war and death and shit in the real world. Truth and the dwarf in the flask are way more kino than that weak shit.

it's not just the ending. The whole 2nd half is garbage. You can almost pinpoint when they ran out of material since the writing and developments have such jarring changes from the beginning. It's a shame because it's a great adaption up until then

I remember SPECIFICALLY there were dragon ball toys at burger king post 9/11. Right around the time they had those fries you could coat with the cheese dust. And pokemon was also the biggest franchise in the world at the time. If dragon ball, pokemon, and sailor moon because that was big as shit too, don't count as anime then what the fuck does?
>>
>>745843373
Brotherhood just turns way too generic after the Father confrontation. That and there's lots of obvious issues that pile up like how Greeling hard counters Wrath but conveniently never fully armors up when they fight so he gets raped every time. Also stupid shit like

>>
>>745865870
It was not a mental issue, he literally uses it against Ed before getting raped by Wrath. He fully turns it on to clown on the random soldiers because the writer is a hack. There's also stuff like Heinkel carrying a philosopher's stone without telling anyone for literal months or him and Marco conveniently being written out of the final battle when a doctor with a stone would've been actually useful
>>
>>745866123
As the first Greed before his memories were wiped and gets tormented by it as Greedling. Marcoh is not a fighter and having a stone on the battle field where the big bad wants more lives isn’t a good idea.

>>745866112
It starts out really strong for the first few chapters but Arakawa's writing takes the wheel, quickly. There's a lot of cool shit in both the anime and manga, but the stakes basically evaporate and the manga is only just getting to a point where they introduce the actual antagonists. It was way too early for it to get an adaptation. It wouldn't shock me if they pulled a FMA2003/Soul Eater, where they just make shit up and call it a day
>>
>>745841532
FMA ‘03 JRPG would need to have the original season 2 plan instead of the movie to be cool.
>>
>>745866282

Remind me of which moment you mean. When he appears as Greedling his memories were suppressed and he introduced himself as the new Greed. After his memories start to fuck with him, he crashes out with Wrath (and Pride in the background) and later runs off because of it. Marco was also outside the fortress when Al was forced to appear underground by Father. Perhaps (You) may be retarded anon.

remember there are indian retards who think they are western/european/american etc on 4chan that are not older than 25 and you are having to deal with their stupid remarks. Pokémon was the hottest shit in the schools in 90s and 00s, Sailor Moon was for women and girls, Dragon Ball for boys and men. Neon Genesis Evangelion was so normalfaggot tier shit back then that even a regular old boomer nerd might have watched it on paid cable channel for Sci-Fi shows before the internet piracy got huge or seen it on channels like Toonami etc whatever was going to air that. Harumi Suzumiya was the most normalfaggot anime regarding that scene's "slice of life"/"school life" anime. Studio Ghibli was basically treated like Japanese Disney in terms of importance and quality offerings and was watched a lot.

>Homie still got hit by a car and went to another world.
And he managed to get home. Modern anime series with Isekai, main character never bothers to find a way to get back home.

Did Subaru find a way to go home yet in Re: Zero? Nope.

Did Kazuma find a way home yet in Konosuba? Shit no.

Did Saito find a way home in Familiar of Zero yet? Fuck no!

Meanwhile at the end of Conqueror of Shambala, Ed and Al decide to stay in the real world(despite WW2 going to happen in 1939 since the movie takes place in the 1920s) instead of going back to their home world and avoid WW2 later in the future.
>>
>>745868418
it was quite literally mainly targeted/marketed to women and girls and had that audience. magical girls do not have a huge male audience appeal in the west especially it didn't in the 90s and 00s, it was seen mostly as "gay", "perverted" or "too girly" to enjoy non-ironically.
>>
>>745869106
go back already to your socialist shithole sub-reddit subhuman jew. reincarnation stories aren't portal fantasies. they appeal to different audiences, you are mentally raped and gaped by your deontology. reincarnation stories aren't about going back but progression towards a better outcome in life. portal fantasies are generally about traversing lands in a quest-like narrative. stranger in a strange land story (isekai generally) is about discovering how one fits within a strange culture and world that's different from their own. instead of narrative forging go learn about script writing and genre fiction.
