There's little reason to use mounted pals when both you and your pal attacking together or making builds around player dmg only or pal dmg only would yield higher results than mounted pal combat where all you get is inconsistency (mostly because if you mount a pal, you and your pal take damage together from a handful of attacks).If there's one thing i'd like for 1.1, it's something like each faction getting their equivalent of an Oil Rig you can invade and they're designed around using big mounted pals as seige weapons to break through foundations and walls. Hell, you could get sunreach's gimmick of breaking shit in enemy bases to open the tower, and have it on other towers, like you could take the long climb to fight Axel, or fight through dungeons full of Pyre fucks to go through the shortcut and using a big fat pal as a mount is the easiest route.
