What makes it so memorable?
>>
>>745948342
it sucks
>>
>>745948342
You can play a completely different second act depending on a choice you make. Bioware literally could never
>>
>>745948382

No tranny faces in that game so it does not suck.
>>
>>745948342
A sizeable portion of a nation's gross domestic product is tied to a franchise's success globally and the cultural heritage it espouses makes the franchise qualified for state funding assistance.
That is why you remember it. Someone paid a lot of money to make it memorable.
>>
>>745948342
Nothing. Not buying shitcher 4.
>>
>>745948342
Triss
>>
3 is the most memorable followed by 1 (romances, coitus cards), 2 was nice at the time but in hindsight it is pretty forgettable.
>>
>>745948342
Nilfgaardians torturing and executing Sorceresses en masse in the final act.
>>
>>745948342
3>2>1 and it's not even close
The game is a total slog after Flotsam though, with the ghostly battle being an exception
>>
>>745949365
you're dvmb af
>>
>>745949390
Seething brainlet
>>
>>745948342
This game is so harsh on the eyes. Literally unplayable eye-rape.
>>
>>745948342
Triss being one of the most unhinged characters ever, annoying maze maps, ugly lighting and models, dumbed down gameplay compared to both 1 and 3, it's a simple action game rather than a Witcher RPG (1 is exactly that, 3 is a bit better than 2 at it, but not better than 1)
Didn't like it, it's a product of its era
Incredibly important in the history of video games though, and the polish media industry
>>
because you are a underage faggot
i dont remember anything from the shit game
>>
>>745948342
Horrible combat
>>
>>745948342
lesbomancy
>>
As far as government sponsored cultural outreach goes, this isn't that bad. Dustborn was the product of a Norwegian cultural outreach program. That is what I would bad.
>>
>>745948342
The only difficulty Witcher game with good gameplay
Best characters and story in series
Satisfying and extremely varied Choice and Consequence
The best Witcher game by far
>>
>>745948342
It's like 2 games in one, crazy high replaybility
>>
>>745948342
The most difficult section is the tutorial by far
>>
>>745953818
So I'm not the only one who got gaped trying to beat it.
>>
>>745948342
>What makes it so memorable?
It RAPED the Witcher IP, and turned it into a casual console rollan-on-floor hack and slash slop.
>>
I vastly prefer exploring the linear as hell forest around Flotsam than "exploring" in W3 by running from question mark to question mark
>>
I like RPGs that have defined time-sensitive progression (story-wise, not as a mechanic), in TW2 you travel across different locations, abandoning quests and interactions when it's time to move forward. this is even more interesting with choices completely changing that act with battlefield

fully open world gameplay always devolves into a theme park experience and/or ubishit collectathon

Fuck no it's not.
And those two LINEAR as fuck """routes""" are fucking nothing burger compared to TW1's FIVE (5) different endings + numerous nuance differences across five chapters.
>>

>And those two LINEAR as fuck """routes""" are fucking nothing burger compared to TW1's FIVE (5) different endings + numerous nuance differences across five chapters.
Why lie?
Iorveth and Roche paths are extremely nonlinear on it's own and lead to even more endings
>>
>>745948342
It's pure garbage aside from a couple of decent side quests.
>>
Will any game ever top TW1's combat?
>>
smallish zones with lots to do
memorable quests
actually gives you completely different acts depending on choices
tolerable combat
>>
>>745948342
>side with Roche because he's a bro
>literally nothing happens
>most content was on the elf side
Fuck this game.
>>
>>745956072
Retard, the two routes show you different sides of the story. You need to play both to get the full picture

It was even more difficult at launch.
>>
I played 3, then 1. 2's combat was so bad I uninstalled it.

>ves almost gets raped
>beat ves up in a duel
>sex scene with ves and you see her small boobs
>ves actually gets raped
>roche kills henselt (ves' rapist)
>roche cuts off a gay guy's balls
>kill dragon without ever having a clue it was a person because you're a dumb asshole
I had fun. I especially like playing as the rapist and beating up the girlboss dragon lady. Wild game. Iorveth's path made me like Iorveth but from what I recall he gets fucked over pretty hard and then he's cut from witcher 3 :(

Soul-like combat makes it a classic
Good underdog of the Witcher series
Semi-open world and likable character. Excellent voice acting unlike Geralt in Witcher 3
Probably the first true RPG game since dragon age origins
By the way, terrible thread OP

Best written one in the series. Also, the engine was impressive when it came out. Compare it to what Bethesda was doing at the time.
>>
>>745948342
Two reasons:

Geralt and Triss fucking like hell in the pool
Dialogues if Geralt takes the Sasha path ("lesbomancy"... for instance)

it's insane how much proper art direction can carry a game

>The only difficulty Witcher game with good gameplay
TW2 plays like fucking ass. It's one of THE most insulting examples of gross consolification of a once GREAT game.
>>
>>745958873
TW1 is a simplistic action moviegame with some RPG elements
TW2 is this same, but improves on all of those, so it's better
>>
>>745948342
>Memorable
You can't help remember the shitty ladderclimbing for one thing
>>
>>745959056
W2 is worse because Signs were nerfed into the fucking ground
>>
>>745959302
It also nerfed potions
it being harder is good
>>
>>745959056
You are a fucking insane consolinigger.

TW1 is one of the best CRPGs of the past 20 years, where as TW2 was a LITERAL "We want Demon's Souls audience!!" slop with Barbie-doll humping scenes and ZERO role playing.
>>
>>745959374
w2's combat is better than w1
>>
>>745959362
It's not harder, anon. A melee build makes it completely trivial. Hardest part is the Nekker cave
t. played it on Dark

The core theme of performing a good deed for good intent becoming twisted into sympathizing with killers and criminals at the end you would otherwise bring to justice. It isn't a deconstruction to pander how naive you are or how foolish you were to begin with, it just brings you closer to the pragmatic truth and respects your understanding of the political situation. Understanding more than one perspective as opposed to be told what to do.

Roche for big example goes from desperately trying to avenge a king by bringing the man responsible to justice only to become a kingslayer himself incidentally later when he meets a man so reprehensibly vile and degenerate despite his station of power and authority to have raped his subordinate and gloated about it in his presence.

Its a brilliant little dark tale of illustrating to the player that the victim and the villain aren't always on opposing sides nor are either side justified or innocent.

I'm not a consolefag lmao, I play trve cRPGs and strategy games, the two patrician genres of gaming

TW1 is a very casual and simplistic action moviegame. This is what CDPRed always wanted to make and this is what they made which is why it's so cinematic, full of cutscenes, has premade voiced protagonist, basically nonexistent equipment and gear system, zero build variety etc.
TW2 is a natural extension of this. I don't understand why would you insist Witcher is a cRPG, this is downright pathetic. What else, calling Mass Effect a cRPG?

Witcher 2 actually started soulslikes though, not a literally who Daemon Souls. Dark Souls was just that game which combat similar to Witcher 2 when it released. Which is why Witcher 2 was all about difficulty, got a separate arena mode because people enjoyed it so much, superhard difficulty and ironman mode
>>745959470
It is hard. It's the only Witcher game with anything resembling difficulty
>>
>>745960025
>It is hard. It's the only Witcher game with anything resembling difficulty
That's because it has the worst combat system in the series, not because it's a well designed game.
>>
>>745960025
it's literally just rolling and hitting, fren
>>
It deserves some credit, the branching path in this game is seismic and your playthrough changes significantly depending on whether you side with Roche or the knife ear.
Only issue is that the game probably would've been better off if they blended both routes together

1 is my personal favorite. Best atmosphere, best skill system, by far the best UI in the series and it isn't plagued by a far too large open world. I'm going to have to tell you to fuck off
>>
>>745959056
>TW1 is a simplistic action moviegame with some RPG elements
The fuck? Are you talking about 3
>>
>>745964282
No. TW1:EE.
2 and 3 are literal ADHD Ubishit in disguise.
