Explain the appeal of mechs outside of the braindead surface level "BU IT COOL DOE UNGA BUNGA". Literally what is the point when power armor exists?
>>745951940it's cool

>>745951940I know right?
>YOU CAN ONLY LIKE ONE THING
They're good for getting work done.
>>745952045Not sure if powered armor or mini mecha...
>>745951940>Explain the appeal of mechs outside of the braindead surface level "BU IT COOL DOE UNGA BUNGA".To surpass the limits of the human body. To enter the shell of a stronger vehicle, designed to move and be controlled to do things that the human body could never. It comes down to the romantic idea of accepting our human limitations but then seeking to surpass them anyway. This could in theory be applied to power armour too. Admittedly. It's basically the same fantasy. But there is also the idea of suspension of disbelief. Mechs are already unrealistic enough as is, and power armour that can go toe to toe with a machine that much larger, is just even, even further away into the realms of fantasy. But both are cool. But if you like power armor then surely you'd see the appeal of mechs too.
>>745951940I don't see how it relates to power armors. It's a vehicle that can fight, so it's more like a tank or a fighter jet.
>>745951940They have more freedom in the design department, for one. Powered armor ultimately needs to accommodate the person underneath, giving it an overly bulky appearance.
>>745952215Power armor doesn't run up against the square cube law. They're actually physically possible.
>>745952342Iunno, looks pretty sleek to me.
A braindead question is deserving of a braindead answer
>>745952364There's a reason why powered armor is often exclusive to super soldiers.
>>745952364>They're actually physically possible.Mechs are too. >b-b-but not mechs that can do all -that-! And power armour can't realistically do any of -that- either.
>>745952394This. Just design it like regular armor. Not everything needs to be waaghammarfuckyayyy bulky all the time.
>>745952364>Power armor doesn't run up against the square cube law.The difference is that a mech can store its own reactor and stuff. The only way you get around that with power armor, is through super scifi such as Tony Stark's tiny little Arc Reactor that's unbelievably incredible. Or straight up magic.
>>745952480>Mechs are too.No they're not. >And power armour can't realistically do any of -that- either. The entire point of power armor is to make it possible for a person to do that.
>>745951983/thread
>>745951940it's cool though
>>745952364>Power armor doesn't run up against the square cube lawdamn that's crazy, but it turns out I don't care because I'm not a fucking stupid faggot nerd who worships Neil Degrasse Science Nigger

>>745952560>a mech can store its own reactorWhere? Where is the power source on this thing? Notice how mech media always avoids that basic detail.
>>745952729The beginning of Titanfall 2 literally has you collecting power cells and shoving them into the mech.
why does everything have to be an autistic slap fight on this site.Is the attention really worth being a faggot 24/7?
it will be pure ludo
>>745952693I don't care about realism when it prohibits fun, but why the fuck is Tyson catching strays like that??

>>745953117It's just forum culture. Anonymity notwithstanding.
>>745952867And it makes no sense because you're seriously telling me that giant robots run on literal batteries? Bullshit. >>745953117It's literally the ONLY way to get any sort of discussion going.

>>745951940Neither are cheap, but programs to develop one are useful to develop the other. What is the appeal of a 5060 TI when the 5090 exists? What is the appeal of a vehicle mech when power armor mech exists?
>>745952215>romantic ideaNobody gives a damn about "romantic ideas". Things need a reason to exist.
>>745953650Physics aren't inherently entertaining but you can present them in an entertaining way. It's the best way to get people to remember it.
>>745951983FpbpPseudo-intellectual realismfags would never get it
>>745953891You prove that's not true.
>>745951940They're an interesting look as to what warfare could be like in a sci-fi setting. Power Armour certainly fills its own niche but doesn't quite draw the same spectacle of power imo. Also I'm a pervert.
>>745951940I don't like the japanese flying space mechs but I also don't like the "realistic" mechs from something like Brigador. I prefer the middleground like Lost Planet or Code Geass to a lesser extent, up until both thise series went flying space mech.More like a weapon platform or a big environnental suit.
>>745951940Titanfall 1 is superior in every wayI cannot fucking find a single dump of PS4 border break and telnoparrot scramble only works on nvidia
>>745953920>people are too retarded to learn unless you treat them like toddlers and make a game out of itHumans deserve to go extinct from sheer ignorance. >>745953954Artificial things, moron. Literally what is the point of making a mech? It has no practical use.
>>745951940Because with mecha you can get away with whatever character design you WANT with zero limits. The fantasy is cool robot looks awesome and does cool things.
>>745952578>The entire point of power armor is to make it possible for a person to do that.Yeah. But it's less believable than with a mech. What the fuck is meant to be the power armour's power source to allow it to do any of that? And how the fuck does that fit inside of a little suit instead of a larger machine?
>>745952729>Notice how mech media always avoids that basic detail. Not true at all. Watch almost any mech anime.
>>745954518>It has no practical useNeither does your dick, and still you're yet to troon out

>>745953891Anon just described why these (((fictional))) things exist. I know people with severe autism have a hard time separating fiction from reality but bear with us.
>>745955152You CANNOT build a functioning humanoid vehicle the size of a building. It just doesn't work. >>745955254>fictionalIrrelevant.
>>745955325No, it’s not. Fictional things don’t need utilitarian reasons to exist. They can serve aesthetic or metaphorical purposes. This is common knowledge to the un-retarded.
>>745954518What's the point of going to the moon? Nothing it's just cool.
>>745955414>>745955414>Fictional things don’t need utilitarian reasons to exist. The your worldbuilding is shit. >They can serve aesthetic or metaphorical purposes. Then what is the supposed metaphoric purpose of giant robots that make no sense?
>>745955485The point of going to the moon is to fucking study it and see if we can get anything useful out of it! What kind of idiot question is that? That's the entire point of science in the first place. How does this aspect of reality works? How does this help us? Come the fuck ON.
>>745955587*then What’s your favorite fictional setting anon?
>It's another thread of the same autistic faggot arguing with people over how mechs suck and aren't realistic>Not even a day after the last mech thread that he also tried to shit up to no avail>Doesn't even play mech games, just complains and starts fights
>>745955896Whichever one won't get me stabbed by normies in the street for saying out loud. >>745955936Are you going to explain the appeal of mechs, or are you just going to keep bitching about the fact that someone has the gall to fucking ask?
>>745956090Give me a real answer or you’re a coward on 4chan too
>>745956134You first. Explain to me, in real sentences, why you like mechs. You claim mechs are cool, yet you consistently fail to articulate what allegedly makes them so. >Why do you like mechs? >They're cool.>Why are they cool? >DUUUUUUHLike, come on, man.
>>745956350why should i have to explain it? do you ask people to explain why they like machineguns or monster trucks?humans have always been fascinated by giant things, complicated machines, and destruction, so naturally a combination of all three would be something we find "cool"
>>745956090>Are you going to explain the appeal of mechsNah, because you've demanded the same thing in the past several dozen threads over the course of months, and instead of actually listening or even just leaving the threads, you chose to just shit up discussion and start arguments like some feral monkey because you're too autistic. Walking lobotomites like you aren't worth sincere answers in good faith, only mockery.
>>745955686>what are rovers
>>745956350“Cool” doesn’t need an explanation. It’s aesthetic preference. All the visual components that are immediately apparent are the reason, as well as specificities of some of the stories, none of which matter in this argument. We’re talking about your stupid claim that fictional worlds need utilitarian purpose. Not stop being a deflecting little pussy and tell me what fiction you like.
>>745956720>“Cool” doesn’t need an explanation.Yes it does, motherfucker.
>>745956857What's something you find cool and why do you find it cool? And don't do the cop out "y-you first", I wanna establish what the fuck your standards even are in the first place.
>>745951940otoko no roman da
>>745951940its basically fighting giant legos
>>745956857No, it doesn’t. You’re deflecting because you know you’ve made an absolutely indefensible claim. Whatever you say you know there’s an aspect of that fiction that isn’t purely utilitarian, and when I point it out you’ll look like a retard. What you don’t realize is that everyone already knows that, and you already look like one.
>>745956913Why should I go first when you continually refuse to answer such a simple question? Fine, you want your fucking straw man. I don't think anything's cool. You're a loser for liking anything at all, harumph. There. Now can you please just explain why you like giant robots?
>>745957158Because they're cool
>>745957158Because they’re cool. What’s a fictional world you like?
>>745956350nta>in real sentencesNo. You already think we're retards for liking something that is obviously very cool, it would be a mistake to dignify your ingorance with an "actual" answer. Therefore:unga HUMAN, ogboga STRONG, anga FASTBooga make FIGHTING and BIG, rogge MISSILE LAUNCHERSgorbiga BIG SWORD, gorba ENERGY POWER, guaba WILLPOWERBooga CRUSH ENEMY BENEATH FOOT,ROBOT FOOT
>>745957195>>745957263>>745957341See, this just tells me that you are incapable of articulating why you think they're cool. If you could, you'd have just done it by now just to shut down the argument. And like, you can just admit that.
>>745957494They're big machines for war and big war machines are cool
>>745951940mechs allow for far more design flexibility in body plan and armaments since they don't have to wrap around a human like power armor does
>>745957494Here’s the actual trajectory of the argument, anon, which you already know, but don’t think we realize. If we listed the reasons we thought mechs were sick, it wouldn’t actually effect anything. You’d say “that’s gay” and feel like you won, because that’s all you have to do to refute an opinion. We’re not saying “mechs make sense”, or “mechs are the best genre” we’re just saying we like them. That doesn’t need cited sources. Your fucking stupid claim does. So tell us what fictional world you love so much exists under purely utilitarian influences, and we’ll tell you why you’re wrong.
>>745957341>unga HUMAN, ogboga STRONG, anga FAST>Booga make FIGHTING and BIG, rogge MISSILE LAUNCHERS>gorbiga BIG SWORD, gorba ENERGY POWER, guaba WILLPOWER>Booga CRUSH ENEMY BENEATH FOOT,>ROBOT FOOT
>>745957582So then why not tanks or jets? Y'know, big war machines that actually make sense.
>>745957494>why are you guys like blue color?! ANSWER MEthis is how you sound
>>745957771Because mecha are cooler
>>745951940Mecha are force multipliers on a level power armor can't compete with. Plus, they add an element of impersonality to the battlefield which lets you do a lot narratively, especially because they tend to become their own characters and reflect their pilots in a well written mech story. The requirements of these machines also demands a lot from the world and its infrastructure, which in a well written mecha story creates a rich world built almost entirely for free, where the question of the human machine's obsolescence comes into question. Tactically, a mech provides something that we see with drones: Psychological shock and terror. An infantryman having to suddenly face down a 10-30 foot monster that can't be shot by standard rounds is not going to be an effective infantryman. In most settings, the mech provides three battlefield applications at once: Infantry, mobile command post, and air support. A power armor doesn't give you the same vantage points or force to distance values. Also they're FUCKING cool. Watch the intro to Armored Core 5. Yes yes I know gen v isn't everyone's favorite but that intro cutscene should explain mechas better than I ever could. And if you still don't get it, the Last Raven intro will sell you on it. It just will, man.
>>745957806V’s intro is great. It falls under “gulf war nostalgia” for me
>>745957626I feel like this is generally misused by the medium. You get stuff like Centaur mechs. Which is sort of funny. But if you're going to go extensively non human in form you might as well make it more like a vehicle like a Spider Tank or go full mecha animal like a Zoid.
>>745957695But WHY do you like them? I'm not trying to refute anything, I'm just trying to understand. Help me understand, nigga! See, this >>745957806 anon actually gave some good points.
>>745955325Why do people suddenly come in applying science faggotry to something obviously fantastical? Who fucking gives a shit about realism or the square cube law, none of this shit pretends to be realistic any more than your average capeshit or DBZ or Harry Potter or whatever. It's ONLY with robots that you autists and go "nuh uh that's not real"
>>745958029You’re such a wormy little pussy. >oh no no no, dear friend, I was never a cinemasins tier pseud about a genre I don’t like! I simply want to understand! Great, now you have your explanation. Your turn. What fictional world that you like follows the rules you’re holding us to?
>>745951940>>745952364>>745952560>>745955152>Muh square cube lawWhy not just make giant quadruped mechs based-off animals?
>>745957158>>745957494>>745958029i just explained it to you >>745956583 and you ignored me
>>745958086Because mechs purport to be science fiction, yet are blatantly unscientific. Everything we know about physics says they can't work, and so people call bullshit. Ki isn't real, so nobody cares if karate dudes use it to shoot lasers.
The primary fantasy of the mech is one of power. A mech tends to have only one pilot. That's you. In a mech, you - No matter your physical condition or the strength of your enemy - Have the power to level cities alone, swing your arm and ruin whole platoons of soldiers, reshape the land through sheer force of violence alone. You have that power. And then, so do others. You in yours and the men against you in theirs. You, with skill, with guile, and determination can triumph over a superior force because your build, your skill as a pilot, your complete machine with you as the thinking core are a force of nature and of history. The machine - Always a marvel of engineering, the pinnacle of weapons development with a suite of systems that would make a fighter jet blush - Towers over you. It is deadly lethal, dangerous to pilot, economically devastating in its demand for capital and resources. But it is yours, and with it you are the strongest thing anyone has ever stood against. How exciting, then, would it be to face someone stronger?
>>745958272Everyone knows mechs aren’t real but you’re still on your period about it.
This pseudo-intellectual nigger isn't here to be convinced, he just wants to whine a like a bitch about a genre he doesn't like.
>>745958235More moving parts equals higher maintenance costs. Also, zoids are biomechanical creatures that are literally grown from seeds in the ground. >>745958368>SCIENCE fictionWords mean things.
Would a tank btfo a mech?
>>745958272Do you bitch this much about every form of Faster than Light travel? Because by all accounts that's far less realistic than most mechs.
>>745951940>big machinery>scifi engineering >medieval meele combat like knightsmecha combines several attractions into one thing
>>745958427>science FICTION Yes, retard, they do. Why aren’t you making threads about light sabers, FTL travel, teleportation, or literally any other aspect of science FICTION that makes it FICTIONAL
>>745958454Nah, I'd win.
>>745958272This nigga watches The Martian
>>745958272The only sci-fi stories are even close to being realistic are the "cyberpunk" ones. Go seethe about Star Trek if you're this mad about unrealistic sci-fi stories, it's far bigger than any mecha series out there
>>745958335That's the exact same power fantasy as capeshit, but with a different presentation.
>>745958454No, not how they're usually portrayed. Everyone says "just hit a mech in the knee" as if it isn't a moving target and the knee actuators aren't closed systems with heavy armor. They also have an advantage over tanks that they are self fighting and as other anons have said have a much higher vantage point. You're just not sneaking up on a mech to get that one in a million shot. Modern ground level sensors can detect tank main gun fire and other high speed projectiles, a mech would exist in a world where sensory arrays would just spot the tank, and then it's a matter of moving a huge thing a few inches to avoid the shaped charge. Most mech guns are portrayed as essentially being main battle tank guns set to automatic fire, too.
>>745951940At what point does power armor become a mech and what point does a mech become power armor?
>>745958749If your limbs are in the corresponding limbs of the suit it’s power armor. If your legs are resting anywhere but in the legs of the suit it’s a mech
>>745951940You actually must be gay if you can't see the appeal of a giant robot and the same goes for kaiju. The idea of a giant firebreathing dinosaur destroying cities and beating the shit out of other giant monsters is just objectively sick as fuck, just like the idea of humans piloting vehicles shaped like giant metal humanoid warriors and there's simply no way you could disagree unless you take it up the ass
>>745958675It's different. A capeshit hero nearly always has low personal stakes. Mech is high personal stakes. The capeshit is also always circumstantially involved in their story and powers - Superman was born that way, Spiderman was an accident, Batman needed his parents to be shot, Thor was born that way. Mech pilots grow into their role in a way that no capeshit has outside of the Sam Raimi Spiderman.
>>745958749>Power Armor = Worn>Mech = Piloted
>>745958675Not quite. Mecha is kinda having your cake and eating it too. Mecha gives you the power without separating you from being a normal person like you see a capeshit stories revolve around. Theoretically anyone could get in the pilot's seat and do the same things you do (unless it's one of those stories with sem-sentient robots that choose their pilot or whatever)On the other hand, a mecha is limited by the technology available. A lot of time there's no theoretical limit to capeshit power
>>745958721Wouldn't hitting it in the chest be way worse than the leg?
>>745958519Why should we let something not being real get in the way of respecting real life physics? >>745958457>faster than lightFucking lol.
Mechs with capes and cloaks is so fucking cool, even if it is retarded
>>745958883A lot of power armor still has to be pilotedWould you say Tony Stark is simply "wearing" the Iron Man suit as he flies it through the air?
>>745959005>Give a mech a cloak and knightly tabardOh i'm gonna coom
>>745958927The usual tank vs mech argument comes down to hitting it in the leg, but mechs also have the advantage of force dispersion. If hit in the chest, depending on where the center of gravity is, the mech is able to fall when struck in a way that the tank just can't. It also depends entirely on what kind of mech we're talking about. There are settings where tanks are real competitors with mechs, and in that situation it's not power scaling but a question of specific battlefield utility. They serve entirely different roles.
>>745959005>>745959072The vision of Escaflowne
The same people defending a lack of realism in fiction are the same ones who demand "historical accuracy".
>>745958943Why should we respect real life physics if it's more entertaining not to?
Can anyone defeat him?
>>745958943>Why should we let something not being real get in the way of respecting real life physics? You’re lying to yourself that this is your reason. I just listed 3 other things that defy physics much worse than mechs and you’ve never made a thread whining about them. Just say “I don’t like mechs” and leave the thread. You don’t need a reason, which is good because you don’t have one.
>>745958921>a mecha is limited by the technology available. A lot of time there's no theoretical limit to capeshit powerThis is blatantly untrue. Writers can always bullshit an excuse to explain why a mech is suddenly able to be upgraded with stronger weapons, armor, etc.
Personally I've come to prefer sci fi vehicles designed for odd environments over mechs. Spider bots, Worm Drills, more exotic and birdlike variations on Fighter Jets, Etc. The human form is essentially only really amazing at supporting our huge brains. If you were making a robot, suit, or vehicle to kill stuff in a particular manner or environment it'd be better to look elsewhere in nature
>>745959242In some stories. But the setting has to allow for it. You won't see mecha in VOTOMS suddenly jump into Getter/Demonbane scale bullshit
>>745951983holy bodied that freak
>>745959228Because it's even worse than Xeelee levels of power scale wank, you'd have to go Mazinger ZERO or STTGL. Elder God Demonbane is even sillier. Genesis Gaogaigar could give it a run for its money if it could get past Demonbane's pilot alert systems somehow
>>745959218You speak like someone whose parents didn't beat them enough. >>745959239>Just say “I don’t like mechs”Why would I lie for no reason?
>>745957771Why would you assume I don't like those too?
>>745959264ok now put your spider in space or your bird in a cavethe point of the mech and the reason the human body is so successful is the versatility
>>745959228Sure, it was defeated in its own story by an Anticross teamup. Demonbane's strong, but it doesn't get into the crazy bullshit you see in the memes until you go into the supplementary materials where you have stuff like Demonbane Vortex Blaster destroying an entire multiverse
>>745959604And Elder God Demonbane. Special versions always get so silly.
>>745959264That limitation is also the best in universe justification for anthropomorphic mechs I’ve seen used. Specifically if the machine is piloted using a neutral link, it would make sense that the most natural orientation for ease of piloting is the human form. It shifts the choice from an aesthetic one to a limitation of our own bodies and minds.
This isn't video games. OP is a faggot nigger retard who will hopefully kill himself and is too much of a faggot nigger retard and coward to ask on the mecha board. Or also likely he's banned because he is too severely retarded to accept that there are other people who come complete with opinions contrary to his own.
>>745959584Why would I do that?
>>745959515Couldn’t tell you anon, but you seem to enjoy it so why stop now
>>745959713But it's funny to watch a pilot whose spent too long in an unorthodox mech configuration spaz out because he forgot how to walk good.
>>745959515>You speak like someone whose parents didn't beat them enough. What an incredible self report. Little bro got beaten by his parents for being an annoying dipshit and now he can't socialize with regular humans lmfao it's over bro just kill yourself already and do us all a favor
>ask mech fans why they like mechs>absolutely volcanic anger
>>745959037Yes. He doesn't even need the helmet to control it. It's even more explicitly just a worn thing when he starts using nanotech.
>>745959878You missed the middle step where you refuse any explanations like a sperg
>>745959037He’s absolutely wearing the iron man suit. Power armor can almost always do things besides be powerful armor
>>745959878anon you've gotten several, some that you even seemed to agree withyou're just begging the question over and over like a little boy
>>745959005What about power armor with capes?
>>745959982I didn't refuse any explanations. I haven't seen any explanations that don't boil down to "but it's cool tho". I like mechs because they represent a modern day expression of knighthood and allow the main character to actually matter in war, as well as serving the role of multiple different types of vehicles. Still have no idea why you like them though.
>>745960137Why not both?
>>745960269You know we can still read the OP right >Literally what is the point when power armor exists? You started the thread like a combative little faggot, and you either lied about liking them then or you’re lying now. By the way, you like knights and war because they’re cool.
>>745960137put your helmet on dumb bitch
>>745960137Yo. >>745960440>"You can't like things while being critical of them!"... >By the way, you like knights and war because they’re cool. That, and the symbolism of a lone warrior enacting ideals of justice. The UNGA can still have substance to it.
Why would you need to justify your enjoyment of something to anyone, even yourself?
>>745960647>the symbolism of a lone warrior enacting ideals of justice is….Cool? Moron
>>745960647Anon you're being so dishonest. Several anons have given substantive replies to why mechs are cool and you either ignore them or needle about insignificant non sequiturs.
>>745960892It resonates. It's a fantasy, like that other anon who actually bothered to engage with the topic instead of being butthurt said. >I wish I could make the world a better place with powerful armor gifted to me from the metaphorical gods". Alas. Boiling that down to "it's cool" is fucking dumb. >>745960876Because refusing to examine why you like something is intellectually hazardous. You should always question why you do or like something, or else it will eventually lead to problems. I'm a life long Gundam fan, but knowing why I like it means I can recognize its flaws. Just, don't be a drone, bro.
>>745961345> or else it will eventually lead to problems. What problems has liking Gundam specifically caused you?
>>745961345Everyone in this thread could talk about why they like something. You asked like a whiny faggot, and so the majority decided you weren’t worth the time explaining. You’re still not.
>answer why somebody thinks mechs are cool with the first 10 minutes>4 hours of shitglinging about 'why does nobody say why mechs are cool still going
>>745961421Aside from having to put up with UC elitists, not that many, to be honest. Granted, that is a rather sizable issue. I hate those close-minded subhumans so goddamn much. Actually, speaking of Gundam, am I the only one that hates the recent trend of making mobile suits really fucking long? Stop making them so lanky. It's bad enough that you already have to suspend your disbelief for vehicles the height of skyscrapers, but now the fucking things are just big metal sticks. Fuck.
>>745961750>you already have to suspend your disbelief for vehicles the height of skyscrapersJesus Christ even when I’m trying to give you the benefit of the doubt you’re such an unlikable cunt
>>745961750>vehicles the height of skyscrapers,You're just a fucking disingenuous liar all around
>>745962092>>745961875Daitarn 3 is a Tomino certified Gundam, fuck you
>>745951940I generally like the worlds of mecha games and anime. A lot of the time, it's some existential nightmare world, or some attempt at post-humanism. Big robots are also cool.
>>745953669People seem to hyperfocus on the bad parts of those games and then ignore the good parts. I actually enjoyed both games. I want to see what they were doing with the ending of the first one though.
>>745958427>>745958519>science fictionScience Fiction, at its inception, was also not entirely scientific. They were mostly pulp stories set in the future. If I could travel back through time and space, I'd label them as speculative fiction or future fiction, or some other genre just to avoid the absolute autistic shitfits readers of today have due to not being sat on a cold window pane in the hospital and marked as a natural cause.
>be fan of mechs>love giant robots fighting eachother, or giant monsters, or hoardes of invaders>series usually ruins it by focusing on the humans and making the robots just window dressing>by the end it's mostly teenage drama, where robots MIGHT show up at some pointSTOPDOINGTHIS
>>745961875>you’re such an unlikable cuntWelcome to 4chan?>>745962092Man, I've always hated how fuck huge real military vehicles are. Mechs have no excuse. Just make the damn things smaller, and then nobody will make a thing of them being unrealistic, I fucking promise you.
>>745963036Consider that the most influential mecha shows (Gundam, Evangelion, Macross) were heavily character focused shows with lots of teen drama.Sorry dude, it's baked into the genre. At least you can commit war crimes to your heart's content in Armored Core.
>>745963036The mechs, outside of rare examples, are not characters. They're tools the characters use. Don't be stupid.
>>745964571Maybe we should fix that. We already have a hundred bajillion slice of life animes. Just give us one that's about the fun and joy of committing war crimes.
>>745964228Evangelion's influence on other mecha shows petered out after a few years and Macross was never influential at allMazinger Z was much more influential than either (hell, Evangelion itself owes most of its premise to Mazinger and Ultraman), but sadly those shows were not influenced by Mazinger Z's robot R&D aspect that makes it so unique and fun.
>>745954181wish this could exist without cutting the mech in half from fire
>>745954518Autism.
>>745964634>Maybe we should fix that.Fuckin' HOW?
>>745965984Make more mech shows and games like Armored Core. Hide the pilot faces so we only see them through their mechs, or their customized emblems.
>>745966301The fuck is the actual story then?
>>745964965>Mazinger Z's robot R&D aspectDo you mean how they would upgrade Mazinger Z every so often, I liked that too, I actually just finished Toei Getter Robo, and I found it weird how the Getter didn't get any upgrades
>>745966758Committing war crimes.
>>745967275Bullshit. War crimes are a highly emotional concept. In order for it to hit, you need to be able to perceive the characters and how they feel about the atrocities.
>>745958427Fuck off, retard. You're the type of retards that wouldn't want any thing but giant commie block that barely move because its MUH REALISM
>>745967231It wasn't just about that, it was like how Dr. Hell would find some sort weakness in Mazinger Z, they'd go through many iterations of things trying to cover for that weakness until finally they found something that worked for good and then Dr. Hell moved on to find a different weakness and start making robots based on the new weaknessIt was a very cool arms race kinda story
>>745967376>highly emotional conceptEmotions? Wtf this isn't reddit. What happened to the 4chan I always knew, that was full of hardened internet badasses?
>>745965984>>745964571>>745964634>>745966301>he forgot about this mecha girl
>>745951983this. why would I need any further explanation?
>>745960269>allow the main character to actually matter in war, as well as serving the role of multiple different types of vehiclesIs mech wankery the same as fighter plane wankery but every environment?
>>745967747Because you have people barging in and tell you its not realistic. And then proceed to talk about how cool Mechwarrior is.
>>745967697>""""girl"""""You're not fooling anyone.
>>745967880>he doesn't want to be inside it
>>745952364We have Mechs right now they just kinda suck. Need a few developmental breakthroughs to make it more viable like batteries
>>745967697Making the mechs themselves characters is a bitch cop out what this conversation is about. If you want the mechs to be people, just play a Transformers game. >But Transformers games are all shit.I AM WELL AWARE OF THAT, YES. >>745967831Yes.
>>745968020>>But Transformers games are all shit.Bro everyone loves the Cybertron games and Devastation, what are you on?
>>745968273Yeah, and everyone loves high fructose corn syrup. Doesn't make it good.
>>745968452>food analogyEvery single time.
>whats the point of greataxes if hatchets exist?
>>745962092gendum is supposedly heavy armor and can survive a tank hit while vtol flying in the air, jumping and doing sick light saber moves.a parked fighter jet's coke can thick skin can't even save it from getting fucked by an ak-47. if you stood it up like that the rear fins and jet nozzles would probably crush under the weight
>>745968504>trying to use forced memes to dismiss a pointALL Transformers games are trash. War for Cybertron? Trash. The PS2 Armada one? Trash. Fuck you.
>>745968830>LOOK AT ME I HATE EVERYTHING AND AM MISERABLE 24/7>AM i COOL YET?
>>745969059Dude, the fact is, the TF franchise has not put out any good games. I don't know what the fuck to tell you.
>>745968830Even the one made by Platinum?
>>745970601Devastation was absolutely garbage. It's barely even a Transformers game, it's just character action slop but with G! Transformers shit.
>>745968828I hate that jets are still outrageously expensive to make, and yet they honestly kinda suck.
>>745965031The curvy titans are just for show, anon. There's nothing stopping you from connecting a fleshlight and emotion module up to your combat Titan however.
>>745951940Big robots can do things small ones can't
>>745967880Dolores is a cute sensible girlRespect her
I hate all of you and your arbitrary definitions of what a mecha (and it's respective game) should and shouldn't be
>>745951983fpbp /thread
>>745957341thisalso blasting "heats" at full volumeOP destroyed
>>745951940>loli + robotis there a better combo?i think not.
