super mario bros 2 was mario's dream if i remember right
For me it's the Wood.
>>745957347What if it's not YOUR dream?
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 have regular dream segments between chapters when you rest, 2's are more direct nihilistic lectures to you by "Irenicus" (actually Bhaal's essence speaking to you and trying to mold you into the Slayer, but 1's are slightly more abstract in tone and come off like you actually dreaming about the events of the previous chapter.
>>745957347
Max Payne had one or two.
>>745958016>>745958050Very poignant ending to me. As real as it all feels when you're lost in a dream, you can't truly live as long as you're there, so even if it feels sad to let the people and places that seemed so real disappear, the time has come for the Windfish and Link both to wake up and live again. And yet as the secret ending shows, some fragments of a dream can linger on even in the waking world and needn't be lost.
>>745958853It's definitely one of the most narratively satisfying incarnations of the "it was all just a dream" plots. It leaves you with a lot to think about.
Threads like these make me realize my memory is dogshit

>>745957347i liked the smt1 intro dream sequence
Goofy as it is, Phantasmagoria 2 does a good job blurring reality, dreams and hallucinations throughout.
>>745957347I had a dream where them shit post constantly on the internet in the hopes that if they shit post enough that people will tolerate it. It didn't work.

>nightmare sequence in vidya>it's just (You) walking through a spooky hallway while disembodied voices of characters in the game say ominous mean things
>>745964397ooooh
>>745958605Best ones (even if somewhat frustrating gameplay-wise). After Alan Wake 2 and Control I'm really excited how they'll approach them in the remakes.
>>745957347>another retard who can't figure out how the Print Screen button worksTake this dogshit back to ledddit.
I wish games would depict the malleability of dreams more, the way things shift, morph and change as you're experiencing them, usually without you really taking notice. Like say environments changing dimension, model positions changing, textures changing, etc, when you're not looking at them. Not even drastically, just shifting without being called attention to.
The Void was cool.
>>745957347Every piece of media has this you retard. Where the characters are suddenly placed in a strange dimension, like a dreamscape etc to depict or convey the characters are going through some sort of transformation for better or worse, like calling, awakening, spiritual walk / journey etc. It could be a literal dream. It could figurative, like a brief daydreaming or imaginary scene, like the character is phasing out. Or the usual hurr durr MC took a shroom and down for a bad trip etc in comedy. Or actual Ayahuasca shit and the character go through a deep journey in dramas. Sometimes, it's both physical and metaphorical, spiritual awakening / journey, like Abby and Lev in TLOU2. They both were learning how to walk on the fence (literally) and learn about each other rivalling factions and beliefs. Learning to let go and put trust on others.
>>745969418>>Every piece of media has this you retard
>>745957347Literally spun this off from memory for my English lit creative writing exam in 2005 and got perfect marks, lifting my miserable B to an A for my GCSE.
>>745968582But that's not how dream works. You see the dream you're dreaming is not really yours... I don't know how to explain this, but it's like the Godhead somehow. That we're currently inside the Monad's dream. And anything that could wake up the Godhead, would mean we would cease existing. The dream/reality world would start crumbling. That's exactly how it is in our dreams too. When it's the most vivid, the most realistic, and you could feel that you're starting to be able to manipulate the dream world, that's when it exponentially quickly starts to crumble and you wake up, immediately. So it's like we're the LLM, the AI's inside the Godhead, inside the Monad's dream, we're genning the imageries that fills up its dreamworld. In the same way, there's a other "Matrix" in our dream, and there's another LLM genning our dream. But as soon as we become aware it's a dream or getting closer to achieve CHIM, that dreamworld crumbles, along with the generative machine. It's like zero-sum shit, failing to achieve CHIM. Achieving CHIM is like trying to achieve lucid-dreaming, and astral projecting. But here's the spooky catch. When you are lucid-dreamin, when you are astral-projecting, are you flying around in your own (deeper) dream or are you flying around in the Monad (higher) dream? Are you descending or transcending? It's impossible to descend down because there's no other Matrix inside us. So to conclude, it's only possible that both our reality and our dream are happening inside the Godhead, inside the Monad's dream.
>>745959287Narratively I think it helps a lot that the only thing not "real" in the windfish's dream are the nightmares.I had a conversation with a dude that got really mad at me when I explained this to him, and he insisted that the no death ending is the only way that Marin (and Marin alone) leaves the wind fish's dream even though the whole premise of the game is that anyone that got too close got trapped
>>745958050woah
>>745970070And there's like a point when everything is reaching zero sum, nearing the limit, and the dimensions, realities, planes start to converge together. It's like a the Metronome experiment, where the they start syncing together in harmony eventually. Like a Matryoska doll. Like the film, Inception, 3 layers of realities, starting to come nverge at the very end. They were shooting in the mountains, and the mountain starts shaking, avalanche etc, that reality crumbling, while simulatenously the hotel hallway's gravity is being turned upside down, while they're tumbling around in the van in "present reality". It's also what happened in the Matrix, Zion is fighting its last battle against the Machine, while the Matrix is crumbling from Smith absorbing everything and cloning himself like a virus/cancer, and the Machine / Deus Ex Machina tiself was fighting Smith (and Zion).
>>745971278.We have reached that point. Did you notice the early days of AI when the genned videos looked glitchy, just like in our dreams? And now they looked real. Our "dreams" or "imagination" has now became "real" almost instantaneously at the tip of our fingers. It's even more crazier that the Ai's could gen it better than our imagination or even dreamworld could do, because it's ikmedaite, "tangible" result. And then we go to sleep and dream and we dream of the same routine, dream yourself genning more dreams that becomes reality etc, which, again, this isn't our reality or dream to begin with, it's the fucking Monad's. So the realities are converging and we're getting to a point where we could no longer tell what's dream or reality, or rather, we don't care anymore. We would rather live in that dream, in that wonderful AI generated dream because it's more granduer and takes no effort, compared to the actual harsh life and humongous effort needed to manifest our will / destiny / "dreams" in the real world. We would rather live in the Matrix. We're being made to freely give up our own free will. That was the goal all along. We're being lulled into a new Matrix.
>>745969547Name 5 movies and games or TV shows. Let's see how many "dreamscapes" scene / arc we get.
>>745958357the night and the dream were long..
>>745970070Shut up retard
>>745958605this shit is unplayable on the steam port because Max gets stuck to the walls
>>745959287What makes it work is it isn't revealed at the end of the story, but halfway through, so rather than being a reason to say none of this mattered, it does the opposite, emphasizing the unreality that will disappear once the dream ends so you go around among these people and places for the rest of the game knowing you're hastening their end, but also knowing you have to because you can't stay here in this fantasy.

I have a dream, America! It starts out where I'm in an all-nude production of Death of a Salesman on ice, but I haven't studied and I can't remember my lines. Suddenly, it begins to rain marshmallows, but that's okay, because trees are made of graham crackers, and chocolate bars are the official currency. I believe that by working together, we can make that dream a reality!

Whenver you get knocked out in the story an alice in wonderland quote happens and theres a good explanation from the YT comments https://youtu.be/n-cDqY4-8DE>0:00 - Jason heading into the dangerous island without thinking twice>0:13 - Jason is the good guy, but probably killed more than Vaas and Hoyt themselves>0:28 - Everyone is caught up in the violence, including Jason, where a part in him has regretted coming to the island>0:56 - Jason still has half of him wanting to be in the island and the other wanting to get out, and still choosing a decision.>1:16 - Jason isn't the party crazy man we saw in the phone videos anymore, he is now a madman with a mixed confusing mind.>1:40 - The story having a confusing moral, and the player themselves has to figure it out since the story requires the player's behavior.
