Kind of getting the urge to play a space game. How was Starfield really?
>>
shit
>>
>>745961708
they've added things to make it more like space but it's still feels smaller than fallout 4
it's a fun RPG for a couple hundred hours but eventually you realize there's no reason to go beyond the main quests and a few sidequests. Exploration is not rewarding at all
>>
It's not bad for a turn your brain off space game and it has some surprisingly solid shooting mechanics for a Bethesda game. You could always get a trial for Game Pass and check it out
>>
>>745961708
the worst aspect of it IS the space combat and flight. its literally added as a last minute thing on top of the fallout clone.
I wouldnt even call it a space game
>>
>>745961708
Good game, probably the best space game out right now.

>cant fly the ship from space onto the planet, its a cutscene
>cant fly the ships on the planet surface
>cant fly the ship from one star to another, its a cutscene

they cannot be fucking serious with this shit.

>>745961708
forget this slop, list a few space sims you have played and I'll be able to tell you any good ones you've missed.
>>
>>745963152
there's no possible gameplay in any of those things, you just want flashier cutscenes
>>

Give the Genesis Star Wars conversion another year or two
>>
Starfield sucks.
Get Freespace 2, get FSO, install Knossos. Enjoy.

>implying it's not bloated unoptimized namefag slop by some shithead pajeet who wants the credit for everyone else's work
Just download your own mods and make your own star wars modlist if you want that. This faggot sucks, and absorbed all of the other star wars modders. His modlist is incompatible with alot of stuff, changes the storylines and completely removes dlc you paid for. Fuck that faggot.

>flying on the planet surface attacking bases, ground targets and other ships wouldnt be gameplay.
oh look, a retard.

>cant fly the ship from one star to another, its a cutscene
you can now though

>push a button to launch a bomb and kill the 2 guys on the surface of a base wow that sure was epic
I don't think you played this game at all, imagine some retarded faggot saying you should be able to ride dragons in skyrim to clear dungeons when they can't even get to the entrance to find any enemies to begin with, it's that sort of literal child conception of what's fun.

Polarizing, it seems you either hate it, or find it one of the best space-themed games that's easy to lose hours in. If you don't already mind the Skyrim/Fallout 4 sort of gameplay loop then you'll like it, and if not then probably not.

Couldn't do those things in Mass Effect, either. There's No Man's Sky and Elite for people that prioritize those features (I couldn't get into them at all).
>>
>>745961708
slop, play mass effect or starcraft instead

NMS systems are a weird diorama of static planets that just looks like a level selector because that's what it essentially is. Space combat is also horrible and completely meaningless since you can just call the multiplayer hub at any time which has an anti-aggro field to stop anything from attacking you. The actual core gameplay is a shitty craftybuilder rock puncher, the story is also terrible and retroactively makes everything else worse once you know it.
Elite Dangerous does a great job with the presentation and audio and is closer to what a sci-fi space game "should" be, but it also relies a lot on cartoon physics to sell the idea rather than the actual mechanics involved in spaceflight, and planet surfaces are far worse.
I want space games that actually play around with sci-fi concepts and stories and the sheer insanity and scale of it all instead of just treating it like background trivia, Starfield is closer to that with its weird questlines like the old generation ship being outpaced by modern FTL drives and only reaching their destination planet after modern humans built a casino resort there.
Ultimately there are too many space games from devs who don't even seem to care about spaceflight and stories about space.

Mass Effect Andromeda is a better game than Starfield.

The best parts of Elite mixed with the best parts of Starfield would be great. I tried over a dozen hours of NMS since a lot of the Starfield-hating crowd seems to never stop talking about it and I tend to agree, it felt cartoonish and is nearly devoid of any story entirely. I did try Elite and want to get back into it, but got filtered early on since I kept overshooting things I'd fly towards which I'm sure was just a skill issue. While there was lore, there didn't seem to be much story behind it, either.
Quests like First Contact in Starfield are some of the strongest in the game and what I want to see more of IMO, the Juno quest being another good one with a "sci-fi" theme.

I like both unironically (shit taste I know), heavily modded Andromeda comes the closest to giving me some Star Trek Voyager vibes FWIW.
Neither game is close to being perfect at all, sure, but there's nothing that seems to perfectly scratch that "space exploration with decent sci-fi stories" itch.
