Been playing farthest frontier and want some comfy base building. How is anno 1800?
Is the dlc mandatory?

Fun. Very comfy. Less survival minded and more about logistics of upgrading your cities. Naval combat is a chore but YMMV.

I can't think of single one that is. Just buy what you're interested in, it's not like Paradox where you need DLCs for the game to function at the basic level.

Every single DLC is worth picking up except docklands because it kills balance.

Sunken Treasures, The Passage and Land of Lions are mandatory because they add Crown Falls, the Arctic and Embesa.
