I would like /v/ to play more city building games
>>

Is CS2 fixed?

getting there
>>
is it fun or just autistic like f*ctorio
>>
>>745965751
What's fun about building a city. I'd rather play Empires of the Undergrowth if I'm gonna play some insect simulator

I want to get into Song of Syx but I already failed once
>>
>>745969285
Suburban cucks seething at the very notion of cities and imitating their boomer retard parents will never not be pathetic.
>>
>>745965751
I do play Songs of Syx. Like all city building games though it's quite easy and gets boring quickly.
>>
>>745966189
Can you build anything that isn't a generic American city with suburbs and downtown or is it like the first one?
>>
Sort of waiting for a cyberpunk city builder. I thought Navalis (Cloudpunk sequel) was going to be that, but nah. It's a combination of sim genres. There have been a few other games with stuff like generation ships and colonies, but that's not the vibe I'm looking for.
>>
>>745965751
whats the best looking city sim? City Masterplan looks really good, excited about that
>>
still playing CS1
still downloading every workshop asset I find
shan't be playing CS2
>>
>>745965751
name one game that allows me to put ethnostate laws into effect and i'll play it
>>
>>745970883
songs of syx
>>
>>745970883
I play most cities in songs of syx as ethnostates with closed borders and a self sufficient, exportless economy.
>>
>>745970684
Yeah if it ever comes out it'll easily be the prettiest city builder thanks to UE5. However I don't think it'll be a deep tycoon since this is their first game. It'll likely be a pretty sandbox with demanding requirements.

Btw it's Chinese. They really like this genre and their indie scene is autismaxxed so it might even be decent if they see it through. If not well at least it'll have cool Chinese megatalls with LED shows.
>>
>>745969285
Kek, you sure got that tranny bugman seething.

>build a western modern city builder #2137
boring, i want to build something exotic for a change
>>
>>745970676
>cyberpunk city builder
Still just modded CS1 unfortunately
>>
The DLC for the first game was so bad I don't even trust the second one.
Huge mistake trying to suddenly introduce Anno-like production into a game that didn't have it. Like now there are regular industrial zones, or you can micromanage every building gathering materials and shit, it's just weird. Either make us a mayor or a king/dictator.
>>
>>745970883
Why stop at ethnostate? Why not create a slave class that you will use as a food source?
>>
Are any of the newer city builders, preferably ones that came out this year any good
>>
is there any point to getting tropico 6 if i have tropico 4. the internet seems to say no...
>>
>>745972143
European cities are designed to make you want to live there, American cities just get you from A to B
But actually I want to make cyberpunk Asian and brutalist Slavic cities
>>
>>745971583
Then you'll know you gimped your growth and run a subpar economy.

Everyone wants to get from A to B quicker, euros have convinced themselves that being crammed in like sardines is the superior way to live because its their culture to act superior to americans.
Meanwhile I live 20 minutes out of town because all the inconvenience of paying for a car is countered by the ability to drive to wherever I want whenever I want

Mandate Order
>>
>>745973765
this, Cities Skylines is utterly braindead compared to SimCity 4
>>
>>745974539
what's so shitty about them?
>>745974339
>being crammed in like sardines
i really like how amerikans just make these retarded assumptions, it's beautiful. as if cars were outlawed in europe or some shit. "dude i can drive whenever!" as if eu has some non-driving hours or some shit
>>
>>745970675
You can, there are base game things now, paid DLCs, and free official mods that add different building appearance packs. The (paid) Mediterranean Heritage pack is particularly nice, one of the only paid DLCs I really thought was worth it
>>
>>745970189
Same. I tried twice but the look and feel actively turn me off, and it's not like I don't enjoy rimworld or even the lesser known uglier ones like towns or gnomoria. Similarly, I've never gotten into DF
>>
>>745974339
>cager
You're a podbot.
>>
Who are some nice and cozy citybuilder-oriented youtubers to watch? I know Nookrium and Gamerzakh, but crave more
>>
>>745977038
It's really hard to build big cities because the game can't seem to distribute the resources properly among the warehouses.
>>
>>745977159
Looks ok. Are there mixed zones? Do you get more freedom in how you lay things out? I remember the challenge of 1 was that if you tried to make anything other than a grid or some kind of fractal road system you got traffic problems which made it hard to make anything that wasn't a flat suburban hellscape.

>Everyone wants to get from A to B quicker, euros have convinced themselves that being crammed in like sardines is the superior way to live because its their culture to act superior to americans.
I was referring to aesthetics mainly. The best looking cities in the world are in Europe. Some Asian cities have cool aesthetics but usually more in a "just like my Chinese cyberpunk cartoons" sense. Mostly you just get commie blocks/towers and different coloured glass dildos like the US. That said a city builder that let you build bleak Soviet style cities could be fun.
>>
>>745979704
I am jealous of the aesthetics for sure

That's just inefficient unless that "slave class" is literally cows.
>>
>>745965751
ive played 2 and couldnt be assed to start it a second time
>>
>>745966110
2 is basically a bunch of mods for 1 sold as a standalone game, with modular buildings of simcity 5 (while looking 100 times worse). It will never become better, just listen to its horrible radio stations with its blatantly female attempt at humor and satire

its the entire design of that game, bring you down, its not a city builder, its a le hardcore torture sim with a shit balance

>2 is basically a bunch of mods for 1 sold as a standalone game
I wish lol
>>
one of the only enjoyable city sims i've played was actually transport fever 2, because the gameplay is a simple solid loop and there is a clear progression.
the other is tropico 4 but mostly because of the general effort put in to the setting, story, humor and such, city building itself is nothing special.
others suck ass as games.
>>
>>745972638
no, its toothless as all american post obama satire. Lefties instead of being mocked for hypocrisy and annoyance became intellectuals and the staples of objective morality, while contrasted by the usual rednecks and whatever the fuck, the bad guys.
>>
>>745970883
you wont, shitposting nigger

Workers and Resources has completely spoiled other city building games for me
>>
>>745970883
Stellaris I think
>>
>>745974539
as shallow as every modern indie, absolutely 0 late game.
a better banished clone was the hohol one, ostriv, that is until manor lords came out. They are both equally unfinished but at least core mechanics are a bit deeper, might require two sessions instead of one to be done with.
>>
>>745970883
Tropico 4. Played one game with zero immigration, using boosts to population growth from edicts and my El Presidente to compensate for the lack of immigration. It was pretty chill actually.
Can't really do the same thing in 5 and 6, which is just another reason why the series peaked with 4.
>>
>>745972143
>>745974339
This is some pathetic ass cope, holy shit. Car lobbyists have raped your brain into complete servitude.
>>
>>745990529
I can instantly get in my car and go exactly where I want to. That ability costs me time and money.
