>what if, get this, you can press a button to target an enemy!Wow truly innovative 10/10
what if, get this, you kill yourself before every posting again!
Monster Hunter later proved that Z-targeting was a mistake, and remains the best 3D action franchise around.
>>745967716This mechanic did not exist until Nintendo innovated it, so you have to give them their due. I dropped Skyrim specifically because it lacked this feature.
>>745970671Monster Hunter’s greatest weakness is that your hunter is a retard who can’t correct a swing even when there’s a huge windup. I don’t need lock-on, but I DO need to not have to commit to some drawn-out chain of attacks if the first one whiffs because the monster hitboxes are so awful.
>>745971082>but I DO need to not have to commit to some drawn-out chain of attacks if the first one whiffs because the monster hitboxes are so awful.subhuman like you are the reason why world ruined MH
>>745970671Monster Hunter being built as so much of an anti lock-on game that when they added lock-on in World it literally makes you play worse doesn't prove anything other than MH itself being better without it.>>745971082That's a plus, the fun of Monster Hunter is that it takes a retarded ogre to beat those monsters and getting rid of that commitment with every game is why modern MH is so ass.
>>745967716The innovation is that the character controls change and you circle the enemy when you move, instead of just running the direction of the stick.

>>745967716Have you ever seen how fucking awful 3D combat was before Ocarina? It's awkward as shit like Tomb Raider or it just tells you to go fuck yourself and assume you'll line up everything on your own even with how fucked camera control was back then. Mario was fucking lucky he heavily relied on jumping and just running up and clobbering shit with his fists in 64 and you never had to do anything that required exceptional precision outside of giving Bowser the old so long gay Bowser. Or Mystical Ninja starring Goemon for another example. That's how a lot of 3D games played in those early years. Even shit that came out contemporaneous to Ocarina of Time like Metal Gear Solid still had you hoping for the best when it wasn't giving you precise control over aiming. There's a reason this became the industry standard up to this day. It works exceptionally well for orienting yourself between two points in three dimensional space.
>>745971082Retard, that's what made monhun fun.
>>7459734283D combat in Ocarina and after Ocarina was awful too, everyone just agreed to tolerate it because it was "muh Nintendoes" No different than touchscreens before and after Apple, they're the standard now because Apple poured billions into marketing them not because they're an actually good solution
>>745972419camera lock was in mh since 2009
>>745967716You didn't beat the game
>>745973428>Have you ever seen how fucking awful 3D combat was before Ocarina?Consolebabies...
Hell yeah.
i used to do this shit with the D-pad in RPGsi think thats the irony the OP was going for
>>745973516So if some other game company came up with the concept of locking onto an enemy, it wouldn't have lasted past its first game and not exist today?
>what if, get this, you rub 2 stones together to light a fire!Wow truly innovative 10/10
>>745970423just another rollslop game
>>745973981Mega Man Legends and Virtual On had lock on before Zelda and no one treated it as a revolutionary paradigm shift when it comes to 3D combat
>>745973525Not only it wasn't an actual lock-on, that wasn't added until the 3DS games.
>>745970909Tomb Raider 1996
>>745967716>>Dur dur dur dur dur deeeeerp>Wow! Derp der dur dur/derThat's what you retards sound like when you do that.
>>745973428Strafe combat is also shit
