Is Morrowind's combat actually fire?
>>
I'm gay
>>
if you have been around to play Morrowind, shouldnt you be in a retirement home by now?
>>
>>745967964
zoomers be like

>missing in morrowind
shit game, dnd rules suck!
>missing in baldur's gate 3
yooooooo this gameplay fire!
>>
>>745967964
no, action rpg combat in general is bad and morrowind's has no depth or strategy. it's also ruined by the game's awful itemization and balance so it only gets more boring the longer you play
>>
>>745968442
>morrowboomer conveniently ignores that one game is turn-based while morrowind is in real-time again
>>
Morrowind isn't about the combat, it's about the great...uh...
>>
>>745967964
I like it because you get stronger as you progress, like one would expect. Compared to later games, it feels a lot more natural
>morrowind early game: miss a lot, fights are long
>oblivion/skyrim early game: enemies have low HP, fights are short
>morrowind late game: land all your hits, fights are short
>oblivion/skyrim late game: enemies have tons of HP, fights are long
Level scaling is part of the problem here, but accuracy is the main contributor, ensuring that you're not good at fighting early on but become better at it later. A FOB rookie should be dancing around, desperately fighting for his life with a stolen knife, whereas a master swordsman should have his opponent down in moments. Only Morrowind accurately reflects this.

>miss
>wait 5 minutes to take another turn
>miss again

yeah this is a lot better
>>
>>745968442
>but game xyz is bad
how does that make Morroshit any better? what kind of mental illness is that?
>>
>>745968056
and fat
>>
>>745967964
No? People are just retarded and unable to comprehend that dice rolls are the main system of the game, it's a good game but it's not some ultimate be-all-end-all game.

My favorite Elder Scrolls games are Daggerfall and Morrowind, I've spent the most time on them and enjoyed them the most.
>>
>>745969307
you have other party members retardo
>>
>>745968973
you don't miss if you use the weapons you're supposed to use
morrowind is piss easy at the start if you're not a braindead retard, and it only gets easier from there

the great crypto-/pol/ memes and uhh... the... the pajeet lore that is uhh... hecking based... based on...
>>
>>745969560
Yeah, every game is easy if you know what you're doing. And that's not true anyway, even if you're playing the ultra mix-maxed redguard longsword guy to start with 55 longblade, you're still going to miss quite a bit, especially as you run out of stamina. It's not like the later TES games were any harder, late-game combat is just tedious but you've got so many options (healing spells, potions, paralyzing, poison, etc.) that you're never actually at risk of dying in those fights.
>>
>>745969931
>if you know what you're doing
"i have a lot of points in blunt so i should use blunt weapons" isn't "knowing what you're doing", it's "having a minimum of two working brain cells"
>>
>>745968845
worldbuilding, lore, exploration, immersion, atmosphere, sense of progression

you're not willing to put in the effort to read the posts you reply to so i'm not willing to put in effort in making them

Morrowind's combat and magic sucks and I'm happy to see that /v/ finally sees it.
>>
>>745970058
Underrail has all that and the combat is actually fun
>>
>>745969931
It's quite understandable, you have to have high IQ to enjoy something like Morrowind, choosing which numbers to be big and then using the weapon associated with the big number is extremely intellectually based and you can't just willy nilly decide on what to choose, much like the stamina system being esoteric and deeply complex, you must walk before fighting some worm on the ground, recovering your breath before fighting it in a crucial, epic battle.
>gets paralyzed and dies to two scribs
>>
It’s not good, but I’m extremely tired of people using retarded scenarios to make it look worse than it is
>facing high level enemies while using a weapon skill that is at 5 and using god mode to stay alive to make the illusion that it’s actual combat and not a curbstomp situation that would normally end in player death in 5 seconds
>using weapons that are supposed to use charged attacks with uncharged attacks, making your damage output something like 1/10 of what it is really supposed to be
>going around with empty fatigue bar

If you actually play the game as you’re supposed to be, it’s an acceptable combat system. Never very satisfying, but not unacceptably frustrating either.

just for you dawg
>>
>>745970354
ok so play both
>>

>1/10th
Even worse, some weapons have a damage range of 1-80. Theorerically you could need 80 spamchops to accomplish what one charged blow would do.
>>
30 minutes until Poison Song...
>>
>>745971003
Why both if you could just play underrail

End your life OP
>>
>>745967964
No it sucks but I still liked the game
>>
I like how for years on end, we're just going to constantly have a misconception about how Morrowind's hit rate works. The discussion of this game's combat will always, always be disingenuous.
>>
>>745971517
Because everything that followed and the decline of gaming in general. RPGs might come back in popularity but the first person view is too confusing for retards. It needs to display percentages and be turned based before people connect certain dots
>>
>>745971401
But enough about the TR shill threads
>>
>>745971678
Actual game discussion is fine but I can tell it must hurt you greatly to see it happen. I hope you find happiness in life someday

>game very overtly states that you have a 35% chance to hit before you miss
even my turbonormie friend who played bg3 because it was "the new skyrim" eventually figured out how to open the stat screen and learned the enemies had stats and made rolls too
he would have never figured this out in morrowind
