If I remember, something similar happened with Persona 2 :Eternal punishment on the Psp. Some asshole was taking his time with it, bitching at everyone and repeatedly saying how he's gonna finish it when he feels like it and that nobody deserves his greatness. Then some rando decided to fuck it all up, ran the original PlayStation script through the psp version, translated the bonus stuff and boom, practically overnight we got a workable translated game. Apparently the first guys ass pain was of epic proportions.
But they have real life things to deal with and family business to handle thats why we're sitting on our ass for 5 years

At the start of the PS2 and PS3 gens Sony was actively telling publishers that 2d games would not sell in the west, and that they should focus on localizing games that were 3d, but of course this was probably just a tactic to make their consoles look more modern, since the PS2 was weaker compared the gamecube/xbox, and the PS3 came out the gate a full year after the xbox 360 and Sony wanted to emphasize that the hardware was worth the wait and the price over the 360.

There’s a lot of fags like this in translation circles for some reason. They intentionally hold shit hostage because it’s the only power and control they have over anything and that makes them happier than actually releasing stuff.I remember something similar with a manga a few years back. It was pretty niche so there weren’t any raws online and it wasn’t being released on any digital platforms. The only guy who was translating it was pretty much just using it as an excuse to shitpost and probably didn’t even actually know Japanese. Like 90% of the dialogue was just him making dumb jokes and inserting his political views and when people called him out on it his comeback was always “translate it yourself”, except he wouldn’t upload the raws he had and would act smug about it. And then eventually someone else managed to get the raws and started doing accurate translations and he had a complete meltdown and went full bitch mode and spent months trying to report the other translators and get their translations removed from sites so he could be the only one again.But you still have groups or solo translators who will just suddenly release a huge project out of nowhere that no one even knew they were working on, which is cool.
