>https://gamingbolt.com/the-duskbloods-ip-is-owned-by-fromsoftware>This was actually a notable, deliberate move by the studio>likely to avoid a repeat of the Bloodborne situation, where FromSoftware has wanted to remaster or remake the game but doesn't own the IP (Sony does).>just as Sony's ownership of the Demon's Souls IP let it greenlight a remake with Bluepoint entirely independent of FromSoftware's involvementSo "IN THEORY" Duskbloods could come to other platforms. But we don't know any contracts or timed exclusive deals going on. I'm glad that Nintendo got an exclusive and that FromSoftware is smarter now, to prevent snoy prisoners or in the case - tendie prisoners.
>resetera armchair lawyer nonsense instead of an actual statement from either company
Nintendo is the worldwide publisher. Cope.
>>745972147publishers can be changed
there's really no reason for it to come to other platformsIt's literally just fromslop to appease the nintendo audience.
>>745969713Bayonetta is owned by Sega, and when Nintendo funded the sequel it never got released to other platforms.
>>745969713Highly possible for PC>Fromsoft owns the IP>nintendo is publishing it internationally but Fromsoft is still publishing it themselves in Japan>Daemon X Machines was a switch exclusive>another game where it was published internationally by Nintendo but by marvelous themselves in Japan>It only ever got a port to PC and no other platform.
>>745972743Oh c'mon anon, you destroyed OP's narrative.
>>745969713Doesn't Nintendo have publishing rights? At best Fromsoft will get to remaster it
>>745972961>>745973090Nah cap
>>745972230Yes, but guess who needs to sign off on that? NINTENDO
>>745973090It feels like the things to look at here are the early Switch 1 exclusives and other Platinum games like W101 and Astral Chain. The Squeenix games all eventually went multiplat, both for the original game and other sequels. Same for Daemon x Machina. But for both, the pattern seems clear: the game was developed by another company with little Nintendo input, published by them on Switch, then themselves or another publisher later. As is, DxM only got a Windows release. A similar thing happened to MHRise, which had a staggered PC then PS/XB release a year and then another year after. Then we have W101 and Astral Chain. W101 was a WiiU exclusive, and Nintendo was willing to fund a Switch port, but also willing to let Platinum go multiplat on their own. Meanwhile they purchased more of the AC rights.Right now, The Duskbloods could go either way. It's set up similarly to early Switch 1 3rd Party exclusives, but it also has signs of the kind of involvement and interest that led to them keeping AC exclusivity going forward. It's not hard to imagine Nintendo seeing potential in keeping The Duskblood exclusive, especially since they've already given it more of a focus with their developer interview.
