>>745974232
>How do the Swedes use it?
I mean Sweden has retards too. But the common and typical usage is just to get a 30 day buffer on your payment, so that you can actually receive your money before paying.
If you never actually get your product, or if the product is incorrect or damaged. It's much easier to "refund" if you never actually made a transfer to begin with. And then Klarna gets to deal with the mess instead of you.
And this costs nothing unless you miss the 30 day deadline, in which case you'll need to pay Klarna a fee. But provided you actually make your payments in time, Klarna provides a nice buffer on whatever you order through them.

But these loans and monthly payments and stuff is like, real garbage. But it's apparently what Klarna has become associated with ever since it became international.

You owe $1000. They know you're a deadbeat so they sell your debt to someone whose entire job is to rattle you on the phone for a payout for $10, then when they don't get you they sell it again for a dollar, so on in big bundles. Everyone knows you're a deadbeat here, and all the parties understand you probably won't pay anything, but enough people are afraid of enough of the levers debt collectors can pull that a whole industry sustains itself on this kind of business.

You can't get blood from a stone (empty bank account), so that's one way to miss a payment. And the interest free bit is new, payday loans and other similar predatory lending outfits historically charge astronomical rates, toeing as close to and even over the line of legality. Klarna et. al simply is establishing itself and growing market share to capture more capital when it turns off the free interest, textbook enshittification.

there is exactly one situation in which you should always go into debt and that's when the interest rate is 0 (or negative, but that doesn't exist) AND there is inflation
this is because when you spread out the same dollar amount over a period in which the value of the dollar decreases you are effectively paying less for the same thing
this almost never makes a difference to your bottom line though

Mainly food. As a student I lived on rice, potatos, etc. - I had a stick of salami for an occasional meat treat, and a box of candy bars, which I allowed myself one per week.
When I started earning money like an actual human being, that was the first luxury I was allowin myself: Not watching the price when grocery shopping. I just buy whatever I like. Some nice cheese? Of course. Some novelty shit just to try it, even if it's like 5 bucks for two ounces of shit? Absolutely, I don't care.

I've got an instrument collection worth about 50k euro that keeps growing, expanding the home gym with calibrated plates, upkeep for the house and kid, wife wants a new fridge, car needs rust treatment, cats need dental etc etc
Currently saving for a new fridge and a baritone custom guitar, also I need a new rack of bone-in ribs for the freezer, we're almost out.
Im just an electrician man, I don't have any debt cept the house and I can afford almost anything I want by saving a few months, shit must be real bad over in freedomville

To get the consumer hooked to eventually start using their 6/12 month plans that do have interest rates. People will justify a 20% interest rate in their mind when the monthly payment is still low.

these paycheck to paycheck friends are bizarre to me because if you lived on the absolute bare minimum for a while then you'd at least have a buffer to work with, even if its just one paychecks worth of buffer

Not for games but I sometimes use PayPal paying a month later, which means paying two months later because it then goes to my credit card. And other times I use Amazon monthly payments in three installments.
I don't see an issue with it however these things don't have any fees or interest, so it's just a free credit. If it would cost me more I wouldn't do it.

As someone who has grown up not nigger poor, but really lower middle class, who has lived on minimum wage for quite some time, and who still managed to save money, I have realized that being broke is mainly a spending problem, not an income problem.

What's Really fucked up is when banks give loans to people who they know can't pay, bundle them up to the point individual loans can't even be separated anymore and do it to such an extent they need to be bailed out by taxpayers to continue to exist because they're "too big to fail" so taxpayers bail them out and get noting in return.

I've met a few people with outstandingly shit lives who's bad finances make sense but I have no clue how the average person with apocalyptic family conditions ended up so comically fucking broke skating by from pay to pay. Is it just smokes and alcohol? Like I set all my stuff up alone without help, money is easy - you just put some aside each month for a few years and use it to roll into whatever you want to do for yourself and don't piss it away on trash. No its literally just one guy. It's not supposed to be average monthly expenses for Americans It's literally just one guy's average monthly expenses.
The guy made 6 figures yet lived with 4 roommates, hence the lower rent and strangely high donations.

>These paycheck to paycheck friends are bizarre to me because if you lived on the absolute bare minimum for a while then you'd at least have a buffer to work with, even if its just one paychecks
Assume someone pulls in ~$2500/month post taxes. Let's say they need to spend ~$2200 on monthly expenses, that still leaves $300 a month left over. With that it would take them ~8 months to save enough to cover one month's worth of expenses. In reality though you won't be saving $300 a month, they'll put some of it to going out to eat with friends, or buying Christmas presents for family, or buying a new rug or a replacement tire. Any number of minor/median expenses that aren't strictly necessary or an emergency but are worth it to them. Even if they only spend half of that $300 it bumps it up to ~15months to cover that $2200. Experts recommend that you have at least 3-6 months worth of expenses saved, it would take someone like this over half a decade to have that much saved up, even assuming they have no emergencies or major expenses.

I used to work for AT&T several years ago and the amount of people who would call demanding for the new iPhone every single year regardless of how many months they were in their contract was astounding. This is a hell that they created themselves, there's no reason whatsoever to be buying the latest phone every single year when 90% of the people would only use it to browse their usual social media or to make calls, but everyone was successfully trained by corporations into always having the latest and trendiest things to the point they became walking advertisements themselves, lack of money in their pockets be damned.

Starbucks is utter shit in terms of coffee flavor, but it somehow still is the trendiest place to go when you want to pretend you like coffee regardless of how overpriced it is, and even then most people nowadays buy whatever flavor of the month 1000mg of sugar filled trash they're currently promoting, like the returning unicorn frappe that people would buy to take photos only to throw it to the trash when done.

i came to the conclusion a while ago that all those people who complain about how hard it is to make money, juggling all their jobs, being stressed all the time are just retards deeply invested in a grind mindset of owning expensive bullshit like $70k cars, jewelry, brand new clothes and shoes every month, ordering starbucks and takeout every single fucking day. this type of vanity was probably taught to them by social media. wanting to be seen in the top status of everything. i'm doing fine on the bear minimum. my shirts are 20 years old and lasted me because they're higher quality. i'm not starving or hurting for more income. sure there's things i want but i understand the difference between want and need.
