Yeah I bought an external hard drive
>>
>>745975631
Yes, so I can insert them into the disc drive for my emulators.
I bought two PS2 games from Goodwill.
Jeep Thrills and NCAA 07.
>>
sometimes if there's a good game for cheap at a thrift store. otherwise i pirate. most of my consoles are modded.
>>
Bought almost the entire dreamcast collection, now completely lost interest and must unload it somewhere
>>
>>745975631
Not a coomlector because I'm straight.

ROM on an everdrive/FPGA > ROMs emulating on PC > powergap > physical copies on OG hardware > buying roms from a service
>>
Yeah, I have a lot of games. If I was banned from the internet tomorrow I'd be fine.
>>
>>745975631
Those aren't retro. They're old.
>>
If I were a millionaire, I'd buy the most expensive sealed copies of old games from anyone who would sell to me, and then open them up and play them, maybe put stickers on them or write my name on them as well.
>>
>>745975631
Is that family guy game any good? I head that ps2/xbox one sucks but the 360 family guy game is kino.
>>
I buy retro games through PlayStations online store. A disc will eventually deteriorate and become unusable.

87% of games games released prior to 2010 cannot be purchased. Not that you care, fake ass motherfucker.
>>
>>745975631
Somestimes, and then I use a no-cd crack on them
>>
No. Just hardware. The ship has sailed on getting games that dont cost an arm/leg/nut.
>>
>>745979753
The 87% that sucks ass and no one wants???
>>
>>745979684
Is xbox 360 "retro" now too?

Theres no difference between retro games and modern games, they are both games.

What it really is, Is a rabid deranged hatred when /v/ sees anything physical gaming or related to ownership. They cant stand it. Its like garlic to a vampire.
>>
>>745980628
>Is xbox 360 "retro" now too?
Yes. Gamestop declared it as such.
>>
>>>/freemcboot/
>>
>>745977640
/vr/ is not an arbiter of anything, piss2 is 3rd generation modern
>>
Yeah. Id say I got into "Collecting Physical Games" in 2018 when I bought Gungrave on PS2.

Obviously I "bought games to play them" before. But if my options were $15 digital or $135 Limited Run Physical scalped on Ebay, id take the former. Not anymore. I dont do rentals.
>>
>>745980628
why the fuck would x360 be retro when it's 3 full generations removed from the retro era? you nigger retard
>>
>>745975631
Try buying games that dont suck.
>>
>>745975631
Of course, it's fun
Don't order PS1 games from eBay btw, they always fucking crack en route

Retro doesn't mean old. Shitty indie games made this year are retro. Pac Man is not retro.

>some character from some russian novel
On no he is a youtuber, owner of the Retro Games Fan Facebook group, creator of the best Retropie on the internet (despite costing $600), and former programmer of some of your favorite vidya.
>>
>shifters
Never heard of that
>van helsing movie game
Bet that’s a banger
>>
Sure let me just shell out upwards of $200 for a game that was $30-$60 when it came out. Fuck the greedy kikes that try to pull this shit. I've got a decent collection because I was around for all this shit, and as much as I'd love to replace everything that came before the PS2 that various junky relatives stole throughout my childhood, I'm not paying $100+ a game to do so. Someone's gotta make emulation retard proof to hurt these greedy faggots and force them into selling them at a reasonable price.
>>
The time to buy PS2 games was the late 2000's. Back when there were three Gamestops at the mall simultaneously and the games were borderline valueless. Spending hundreds of dollars on them now on ebay is the most soulless experience possible. Not to mention it's just a bad way to play the games, use OPL or Neutrino if you really want to play them.
>>
>>745983408
You childhood memories are overwhelmingly cheaper nowadays than they were upon release. Are your childhood memories 400 copies of Rule of Rose or something?
>>
>>745983485
I was at a gamestop today for the first time in nearly a year. I have never seen one so packed with stuff. It was nuts. I did chuckle at the retro section. Niggas charging like $140 for a GBA. Not a SP. Not modded with a backlight. Just a vanilla GBA. Crazy.
>>
>>745983625
It's usually for games I missed out on completely. Skies of Arcadia is the main one, but even more recent shit like Twilight Princess HD on the Wii U is going for like $120 or something stupid like that.
>>
>>745978335
Funny enough, there are games being made for the dreamcast still.

>>
>>745983808

Pick a lane. Unless it's Nintendo, having a healthy retro collection is perfectly doable
>>
Yes, a few. Recently bought the first drakengard for PS2.
>>
>>745981753
Now that you mention it, you may be right. Nirvana and Nickelback will never be "classic rock", no matter how many decades pass. Classic rock can only exist from the 50s-80s, no matter what. So you could argue retrogaming is the same
>>
>>745975631
No, in fact I sold a bunch of my old games a few months ago to some zoomer "retro collectors" for a nice stack of cash. Enjoy the games, kiddos... is what I would say if you zoomer fucks actually played games instead of just taking pictures of your game collections and posting them on instagram or whatever, lel.
>>
>>745981672
sorry but piss 2 isn't retro, 2000 is not retro
>>
>>745975631
Why bother? Disc rot will eventually get em anyways.
>>
>>745984123
"Classic" is different than "retro," and is based on standards, not necessarily age. Stryper will never be classic, while Iron Maiden will.
>>
>>745984125

>>
>>745978559
sorry gramps
over 20 years old = retro
>>
>>745984123
exactly. people who purposely misuse retro are like is niggers tried to call nickelback classic rock, no one does that because they know that it's categorically wrong, why can't zoomer gaymoids understand such a simple fact?
the answer is because they are fully nonwhite retarded niggers.
>>
>>745975631
Yeah, but I don't just buy any game I see, only games I actually want to play.
I think I have every horror game of note released on consoles.
>>
I own a modded Genesis mini with every game plus Sega cd and 32x. Get fucked gamestop.
>>
>>745983978
The main shit that got stolen was all portable shit, all GBC and GBA shit. Any time I look up any old game it's always being sold at a price that only a retard would pay. Like it'd be neat to play this shit on a real GBA or something again but after looking around a bunch of top rated GBA/GBC games and all that I'm realizing that a lot of that shit was just good "at the time" and going back to most of it wouldn't be worth the time to even bother emulating.
>>
>>745984428
Those games aren't even expensive bro. You can get the Mario advance games on ebay for like ten bucks each.
>>
>>745984314
Retro means something modern imitating something old. Pixelshit and low poly indies fit that description, like Undertale.
>>
>>745975631
I don't need to because I never sold mine.
>>
>>745985274
We lost this fight ages ago bro. I stopped trying to convince people once /vr/ was made.

I already have all of the ones I really want where the novelty of playing them on OG hardware is worth it to me. I hit my limit years ago.
>>
>>745984123

Most people when they think of retro they think of standard definition gaming, Gen 6 and back and mayyybe the Wii since it's entire library is 480i. I don't fully blame retards for thinking retro just means old because of the word being used.
>>
>>745975631

Just mod a PS2 and put roms on a drive in the expansion bay. It's not hard or expensive at all.
>>
I'm a neet so I just ask my parents for money to buy retro games every christmas. Once I get a job I'll definitely spend a lot on retro games.
>>
>buying unreasonably expensive shit on the verge of succumbing to disc rot instead of downloading everything from the Lair
My friend...
>>
>>745975631
lol. Kids these days. I gave my entire PS2 collection away with a CRT for 30 bucks to some kiddo a few years ago. They just collected dust.
>>
>>745986814
Disc rot will be a problem in 500 years.
>>
The only disc I ever had that rotted was an ex-Blockbuster copy of Klonoa that I bought when the store was dumping the ps1. It was probably buffed like 20 times.

I simply dont have the space for games. Flashcarts, ODEs, and other exploits are good enough. The software associated with these systems are more or less considered collectibles at this point.
>>
>>745984689
If I saw one for ten bucks out in the wild then maybe but I'm honestly not that interested anyway. They had their moment, and going back to them kinda sucks shit. Also any GBA re-releases of old games had a bad habit of putting in voice clips that made things sound fuckin' annoying.

I like your collection, curated, mostly games with high replayability. A lot better than the tacky wall to wall collection so many people dream about.
>>
Already bought them. There's still a handful of things I want but today's prices always put me off whenever I think about it
>>
I try to buy what i can when i can, but also pic related is the best $20 i've ever spent.

MX4SIO is a godsend, being able to play 99% of the PS2 library natively via the Memory Card slot flawlessly is pretty sick. Really helpful when i don't want to spend $500 on a copy of Silent Hill 2 or Rule of Rose

Ya I bought a few, mainly just some that I always wanted and can afford now. SH1, vagrant story, the parasite eves, dino crisis 2. I only shop from a local game store so it works out. Kinda insane how expensive these games are now but they were fun to play on OG hardward. Ide recommend everyone simply emulate though.

I'm not going out of my way or anything. Collection just kind of grew over the years. It'd be twice as big if my retarded teenage self wasn't broke as fuck and traded in a couple dozen PS1 and GBC/GBA games so I cold get two used games worth of store credit at gamestop.
>>
>>745981753
>Retro doesn't mean old. Shitty indie games made this year are retro. Pac Man is not retro.
You're conflating style and designation.
Old things are retro.
New things that appear old use retro style.
This is not the same thing.
PS2 is retro. Shitty indie games made this year have a retro style.
