third person stealth games are automatically trash because the camera gives the player a game-breaking advantage the character could not have

you're a philistine if you don't think splinter cell has art direction

correct. also Manhunt is pretty good, a bit repetitive but better as a stealth game than MGS at least
the problem with stealth games I've noticed is that stealth is a benefit to the enemy, not to the player, ie the consequence of you being caught is the enemies dying rather than the player, you're doing them a favor because you can easily kill them so stealth feels like a game you're playing by yourself for no reason
in Manhunt there's a good chance you'll get your shit kicked in or at the very least have to run and hide rather than kill them all which is usually never an option

Actually my character has only one life. It just so happens I'm a time-manipulating warlock and can resurrect him into another timeline by using a spell called quickload

>the consequence of you being caught is the enemies dying rather than the player
true
if there are no consequences for getting caught other than simple gameplay variation then it's a bad stealth game

>>
>>745977591
same, but I might swap MGS and Thief depending on which one I played more recently
>>
>>745976295
Thief (for its time) > Splinter Cell (Thief but worse imo) > Dishonored (even worse with how shitty the AI is even without powers they have barely any vertical detection)

MGS was the first major '5 minutes gameplay to 30 minutes of cutscene/talking slop' so that's at the bottom but frankly isn't really a game
>>
>>745976295
I love MGS but as a stealth game it's laughable.
It's gotta be Thief > SC > dishonored >MGS.
Thief is still the superior stealth game, even though thief 2 is better.
It's hard ranking SC above dishonored because they're radically different and dishonored is more fun in my opinion, but SC is the better stealth game of the two, dishonored is more like an optional stealth action game.

I bet I could sit on top of you for hours and you'd never spot me. Who the fuck even looking up?

I've been unable to replay a single Metal Gear game, and I tried multiple times. I just get bored since the only interesting stuff is laughing at the nonsense Kojima springs on you unexpectedly.
>>
>>745978668
The best way to 'play' that movie series is the PC collection, use cheat engine to bypass any unskippable cutscenes via speedhack and just skip the story
Now and again just call the main 2-3 characters if you get stuck and they'll tell you what to do/where to go

Kojima's movies aren't really meant to be enjoy like actual games
>>
>>745978992
I don't enjoy the gameplay enough to do that.
>>
Been playing this and its actually good.

You could just restart the entire mission if you die, and waste a lot of time. Stealth games are too slow for single segments unless you memorized the entire level to an autistic degree, which by that point it's not even that fun, you're just going through a mechanically process.
I think the best middle-ground would be to create your own checkpoints and live with your mistakes, if you can. Like only quicksaving after you've done something of significance in the mission, instead of every 10 seconds at every single part, and try to survive if you're caught, like your character would realistically do. It's hard if you have OCD though.
>>
>>745976849
Even if you restart the whole game, you have foreknowledge of level design and boss patterns the character couldn't have.

>>745976776
EVEN if the levels are randomly generated your understanding of the mechanics increases every playthrough. The entire game including all in-game mechanics would have to be randomized every time.
