My dad joined the army, went to the middle east, came home and retired a captain. Now he teaches first aid instructors for Saint John Ambulance, which turned out to be the successor to the original Order of Saint John, the Knight Templar. He got a medal from the order with the cross and everything. He showed me pictures of guys still wearing the black cape and everything.So I can officially say my dad is a crusader / Paladin. It sounds like a fucked up job to assign someone. Growing up with military brats the ones that mentioned PTSD were always fat losers. I think a well balanced healthy adult man can kill and be in combat and come out fine, there's some underlying condition to develop PTSD, or if it was an extreme circumstance an experience really is fucked up enough to create post traumatic stress. So it depends.Also my dad knows about the cause of the war, but he still got to live the military life which was satisfying enough.
