Playing through for the first time and on that druggy dude's meltdown. But so far I'm wondering:Why did the Lob Corp games pivot from SCP management to emo character exploration? I can see that is apart of Lob Corp but I don't see anyone playing Ruina or Limbus on my friends lists or streaming sites even this year.
>>745979235Because the abnormalities aren't really that big a deal lore-wise, even in Lob Corp, and mechanically and narratively the game already taps them out pretty exhaustively.
>>745979235>Why did the Lob Corp games pivot from SCP management to emo character exploration?Because the emo character exploration is in every single game retardbro, its the entire point of the series. The SCPs are literally just set dressing for the character exploration. You could rework lobotomy corp's entire SCP premise and the narrative would be completely unaffected. Brainlets don't seem to get this which is why some deranged morons treat the abnos being less prevalent in later entries as some kind of betrayal by the devs even when Lobco outright states that L corp's singularity is one of hundreds of fucked up technologies in the city and isn't special at all.
>>745979235the abnos become irrelevant even in the lobcorp the further you progress
I enjoyed the managment game more than the dogshit Gacha lite games.I dont care about your retarded 5deep4u characters or plot. Just give me more funny and creepy creatures to take care of that can end the world if I rub their butts the wrong way.
>Just give me more funny and creepy creatures to take care of that can end the world if I rub their butts the wrong wayPlay SPORE then.
>>745980638>>I dont care about your retarded 5deep4u characters or plotIt's not for you then. Fuck off to another game.
>>745979235The abnormalities in it of themselves are emo character building anon? One sin and hundreds of good deeds? obvious a jesus analogue that you can export to a more general messiah figure. But in that same messiah figure you can explore the human need for forgiveness, redemption and salvation. All the abnormalities have a story tab that partially explains what they're meant to represent. The SCPs were always set dressing for everything else around them, even if they're very coo.
>>745979235I miss the old lob corp threads like you wouldn't believe.
>>745981275No, I don't think I will. I think I will continue to shit on your nutumblr game and you will continue to cry about it.
I’m sure you wouldn’t want Them to know about the summer of 1992. Meet me in the Male Transvestites’ Toilet, level L16/39C, station Metatron, quadrant Fire, stall Malkuth. You know what time. The usual Hour. Don’t be late.
>>745979235Each game was meant to be something different. The real question is more like 'why did Limbus pivot from being a dungeon exploration game to Ruina-lite' and the answer was likely 'not enough money/time/talent'.Ruina is far more replayable than LobCorp because it is a game about using understood rules to engage with a challenge. A huge part of Lobotomy Corporation is learning the individual rules of an abnormality and, barring an actual lobotomy, you won't have the same discovery or learning process on replays. Yes obviously Day 49 stays challenging even when you know everything, but LobCorp is not about engaging with known entities so much as it is about exploring, learning, and integrating new knowledge into larger schema.I do wish LobCorp got ported/remade with better mod support so that, like Ruina, fans could create more even when PM has moved on to newer things but everything I have heard about the backend of LobCorp suggests that it is a nightmare of shoddy coding that barely functions.I do wish some devs took inspiration from LobCorp and made 'lobotomy-like' a genre in the same way that Vampire Survivors inspired a bunch of knockoffs.
>>745983852Lobcorp would need to be remade from scratch as its source code was destroyed when korea got hit by a hurricane iirc.
>>745984105There's no way large entities would remake their media in this day and age.
>>745980170LobCorp is less about character exploration, and more of a metaphorical journey to Perfection through the Kabbalah. It's highly symbolic and isn't reliant on any specific setting (thanks to the facility's isolation from the outside world), which allows the themes of guilt and redemption against all odds to become so much more universal. Esotericism is at the heart and center of LC, and that's what makes it work. And that's precisely what the sequels abandon, they become about the society around us rather than one man's soul. They become sociological rather than metaphysical, and that's the real betrayal by the devs, and what makes the sequels so much less interesting. That, and the gameplay in the sequels being dogshit.
>>745984807This post is odd because you try to come off as a smart guy intellectually examining the core of Lobco's story while engaging in extreme headcannon and a general misunderstanding of how stories work. Firstly the esoteric nature of Lobcorp was largely headcannon anons engaged in because the original TL was unedited MTL. Anons literally had to fill in the gaps of the TL themselves to make sense of the story which led to them finding 1st google page result hebrew terms and then over exaggerating the depth of the actual narrative.Secondly the sequels could never replicate Lobcorp's story telling style unless they completely abandoned the setting to make a new one. A sequel would have suffered more than thrived if it kept the City as some vague background dressing to replicate the same fairytale like story structure of lobco.Thirdly you are coming at the sequels from the least charitable pov possible and so you completely miss the core themes of the sequels. Roland and Angela's character arcs in Ruina are no less than Ayin's in lobco you are just blinding yourself to them to keep Lobco on a pedestal in your mind.>inb4 ayinfag niggerbabble
